  • Hey Chuck, cheer up, will ya? Lol

  • Gary Owens originally hosted this show. Thumbs up if I just wasted 5 seconds of your life.

  • I remember little flashes of watching this when I was a kid. Totally pointless. Thank God for making the computer and the internet!

And yes, he was definitely coked up :)

  • @Teapartyla Maybe you'd be interested in seeing Tookie Williams' act on The Gong Show. Or crazy ass GeneGene Dancing Machine.

  • @Teapartyla ...oh, thank goodness for the internet, where I can see all forms of faggotry and violence and mutilation. So much better for the soul. Dude, shut the Hell up.

  • $516.32!

  • THE GONG SHOW WAS A GREAT SHOW !!!!!!!!

  • ALL COKED UP!

  • theres never been a show like the gong show that put a smile on your face for 30 minutes and kept it there thank you chuck~~

  • @SonnyTheWhiteDwarf if you hate America so much why don't you leave instead of belly aching Loser! I'm not a republican and I did not vote for him. He was not the best at everything he did but he sure as hell was not the worse

  • you are disgraced by a 70s t.v. show? loser

  • his daughter died of a drug overdose

  • @SonnyTheWhiteDwarf america disgraces itself

  • @PAMAROSHOUSE There are many forms of disgrace in every nation :)

  • I wanna see Chuck in a pair of daisy dukes :)

  • @SonnyTheWhiteDwarf Are you kidding? This show was awesome! It was bad in an epic way. Loosen up dude!!It was all in good fun---

  • One of the only 70s shows worth watching. Edgy, funny... and GENE GENE THE DANCING MACHINE ROCKED!!!!!

  • This show kicked ass back in the 70's.

Got alot of laughs from it, watched it on our old black and white TV set.

  • Sam Rockwell did a good job.

  • I wanna see those clowns doing "The Tuna"

  • the jerry springer version of american idol lol i remember this show

  • The only TV game show host to come close to Chuck Barris in wackiness was Regis Philbin, and he was a distant second. Of course then the network morons told him to tone it down - idiots.

  • Chuck Barris was from beautiful downtown Bala - Cynwyd, Penna . !

  • The late Jack Clark announced this episode.

  • he claims to have been a CIA agent during all this time ! damn...is just hard to believe

  • I used to watch this show when I was a kid. I remember when Rex Reed was one of the so called judges the most. He gonged everybody. As a kid I thought the show was for real.

  • one of the most innovative things they ever did on TV.

    Ernie Kovacs was another.

Sid Caesar. Steve Allen. ... a few others: real genius.

    THE TWILIGHT ZONE.

  • I love the Gong Show.

  • little tiny jew who was always coked up, drunk and just having a great time

  • Irrefutable proof, if such were needed, that the 70's were, in fact, more fun.

  • If we could just get a time machine to bring back Barris in his prime and have him be a judge on America's Got Talent. That would be so much fun.

  • ah...summer..1978....i was 8 yrs old... I thought Chuckie was DA SHIT!!! How did i know he was high on blow when he was hosting that show...(holy shit, im a poet don't even know it)...

  • It seems that a lot of things about Chuckie baby was odd...from his weird jerky dancing to his crazy hats to his claim that he had been a CIA operative. (really)

  • "We'll be right back with more... stuff!" Classic!

  • @JGar164sure "take me out"

  • Bottom line... you knew that they were smokin' some real quality sh#t during that era.

  • "Our next guest..(clap)..hey, I LIKE our next guest...(clap)... but then...(clap)...I LIKE JOCK ITCH !!!"

  • @BenAliGtor Ha! Or: but then...I like athlete's foot.

  • @Pmtmr Fair enough and although I'm not saying Chuck Barris is an angel because he's obviously not,but I would think admitting ties to the CIA or that you were affiliated with them would get you killed by their members because their relentless.

  • Raise your hands if you think he'd make a fun judge if he was on America's Got Talent.

  • I love this show...me and dad would watch it

  • I used to skip out of school in time to watch this every day, then sneak back in after it was over - lol. i love the gong show, and chuckie is like no other! he broke the mold!

  • I imagine The Gong Show was fueled by a combination of alcohol and cocaine. But then again, it was the 70's.

  • Wish this show was still on GSN. So much better than their new garbage.

  • This guy is/was C.I.A. Read his Bio.

  • keep them coming! Chuckie is genius! I would never miss the show. Funniest show ever created! Thx 4 posting!

  • Rumored to be an assassin for the good old US of A...

  • @gnisnot I heard it was the C.I.A.His Bio.was in a movie called Confessions of Dangerous Mind.

  • @toronto8086 US OF A (United States of America)......Pick nits much?

  • @gnisnot Excuse me did i miss something??

  • @gnisnot Are u always ignorant

  • @gnisnot Is that right??

  • @gnisnot Is that US of A for you ASSHOLE,eh.

Proud to be CANADIAN from your Alis in the North, stupid MF

  • @toronto8086 Allies, the word you are looking for is Allies...Our Governments may be friendly but that doesn't mean I have to be polite to you, please remember to fuck off when you leave.

Thank you and have a nice day.

  • @gnisnot Oh excuse me i forgot to do spell check. So Un-American of you.I couldn't see you polite to anyone, were u raised in the bush hick.

  • I liked it when Chuck unbuttoned his shirt--and occasionally took it off. hhhhhhhhot.

  • @nauort23 YES!! Exactly. SO sexy!

    Dawn

  • @10Dec1971 Yes, the man made my loins tremble at 12, before I knew what it meant. He exuded pure sex--and not on the usual frequency.

  • @nauort. He sure did! HOT HOT HOT!!

  • Well, despite the criticism of Mr. Barris being "high," I really like the set design and curtains from 0:02 to 0:42.

  • That moon looks like the one that was in Studio54

  • The old lightbulb headed dude didn't know that he had no talent or sense of humor.

  • is it me or tv since the mid 90's has become brain dead with ideas? none of that reality crap comes close to the spontinaity and creativity of the 60's,70's and 80's!! the only thing HOLLYWOOD does now! is remake everything from that era for chris sakes!! must be the end of the world!

  • They made a movie about his claim to have been in the CIA called "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind" and Sam Rockwell was exactly like him. It's a great movie!

  • This guy was the best host ever

  • Can a person get more stoned than Chuck Barris?

    I don't think so.

  • He has always emphatically denied he was ever high or stoned doing the show.

  • chuck looks very very stoned off his ass! my god!

  • Hey, Jack Clark announced on this show.

  • omg, he was so stoned!

we all thought it was just part of the act!

  • The original American Idle.

  • "cocaine is a hell of a drug"....rick james 2005.......why can't tv be more like this, FUCKING FUN........instead you have tools embarrassing themselves on reality television, hoping to god thet get 15 to 16 minutes of fame........genius and a lethal trained killer!!!

  • I know right. You never had tools on The Gong Show embarassing themselves for there 15 minutes of fame.

  • I just spit all over my monitor from laughing so hard. Times will never be like this again, not on TV not anywhere. This was such a hilarious drug filled experiment, I cant believe it made it. Awesome. Its like Fear and Loathing TV. I wonder what was going through Chuck's mind

  • Nobody, and I mean nobody, did more coke on TV than Chuckie B!!!

  • confessions of a dangerous mind!..moonlighting as a covert cia agent hitman he had 33 kills against red communist eastern europe and ussr! a real cia spy! a true american hero!

  • confessions of a dangerous mind!..moonlighting as a covert cia agent hitman he had 33 kills against red communist eastern europe and ussr! a real cia spy! a true american hero!

  • Yeah the Clap!! He was always a borderline nervous wreck up there.

  • Yes..before American Idol...before Jackass...There was the GONG SHOW!!

  • This stuff will beat out anything wacky on TV today.

  • i seen this show in reruns and it was great..

  • Chuck, you are now and always were hot "STUFF" I wish there were shows this funny and crazy today! Loved him then still love him now

  • I always loved ths show!!! Stupid but funny.

  • Washington Forge?

  • Chuckie Baby is80?????????????

  • I thought Chuck Barris was the cool as hell. I started rocking my fisherman's hats over my eyes!

  • I'll be back, With more Stuff

  • JaYe P Morgan's card says Whip Me Beat Me Eat ME

  • @tapeduk Nope no cocaine there.

  • Not cocaine, good smoke

  • the unknown comic was the shit!

  • LOL...how many times a show did this man clap his hands??? I loved this show!! Was a cop at the time and would come home on lunch break to watch it...

  • Started in 1976.

  • Guys, drugs are still used in great abundance today, and it's not making anything any better. Here's a for instance: people think that the Beatles musical genius can all be attributed to drugs. The Grateful Dead have done more drugs than you can shake a stick at, and they still haven't made a Sgt. Pepper...... There was still a newness about things in the 70's, still some creativity. That's all. I do wish we could go back.

  • @pazzensutra Then again, the Grateful Dead's American Beauty LP is a masterpiece still today. They weren't a commercial group to begin ith so it's pointless to compare them to the Beatles.

  • What year was it when this show was airing?

  • Poor Chuckie.

As much as I love the guy, I always felt kind of sorry for him.

Notice how his eyes are so puffy.....almost swollen shut.

Looks like he hasn't slept in days.....

  • Chuck was Always so Coked up on this show Line after Line MAN WAS HE STONED! His middle Name is COKE!

  • Wow! 3:06, he is totally flying! "Yahooo! Welcome to the Looneybin!" And the guy spraying cream on his head, the single greatest Gong Show moment ever! Thanks for doing this!

  • Great show!...and the use of cocaine, man! i totally dig it!

  • Hey Chuck, ya got a little sumthin' on your lip there... yeah, there. A little white powder. There, you got it.

  • It's very drug addled

  • Chuck Barris, O.G. Crip at 3:35.

  • love the handclap harmony with audience

  • This old version seems to be quite the production. The new one on Comedy Central looks like crap in comparison.

  • No show will ever come close to equalling the brilliance of The Gong Show. Chuck Barris was the best. A unique talent.

  • ...and thats why music and tv was so much better in the 60s and 70s. Drugs made tv and music in that era great.

  • Chuck was a comedic genius! What Mel Brooks was for movies, Chuck was for TV. It took quite a bit of courage to host The Gong Show. Many was the time that the show would spin out of control and until Chuck hearded them all back to their cells, the lunatics would run the asylum.

The show was a 50/50 proposition with one part being Chuck and the other being the completely unpredictable nature of the acts.

  • do you think he was really a killer?

  • credits fullscreen no crunch ah the good old days

  • "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind" was a phenominal movie, but I can't believe this guy murdered people for the US...

  • Me neither, but i suppose its possible he did.

  • @Allanforbes That was a great movie and i have it on DVD,but do bear in mind that the script was all based on Chuck Barris' claims.By the way,Sam Rockwell had Chuck Barris down pat!

  • Moooooore Stuffffff!

  • For years I watched game shows that ended with the "Barris Productions" logo. To finally get a look at this ecentric genius on the Gong Show was pretty stunning! He's one of a kind.

  • agreed, but I think this show was only on for 2 years. you probably watched "re-runs" for years.

with this said, Chuck is the all time best game show host without a doubt. he was assume on this show, and he created it too.

  • @desperategirl932 It was on NBC for two years, but ran in syndication for 4.

  • wonder what the winner on friday night did with the .32 of the winnings!! haHA

  • he's either stoned on coke or pretending to be stoned on coke.

  • Oh he definitely was stoned. Sometimes drunk too.

  • chuck didn't do drugs, he is just a wild and crazy guy.

  • @freeyourmind4202 Chuck wrote in his autobiography that he was an agent for the FBI.

  • @freeyourmind4202 I read the opposite. After watching the film again i've been reading around.

Some people seem to be convinced that he disappeared at times because of drug abuse, not his version of events.

  • this show was guaranteed nonstop LAUGHTER !and I miss stuff like this on TV!

  • This clip just makes me want to do coke.

  • I wish this show would be back on the air but its not politically correct for todays sissys on modern America!

  • Chuckie was on something alright. I remember I always had to watch The Gong Show as a kid back in the 70's. I always got a big laugh pretty funny show. Woundnt mind getting the series on DVD and share all the laughs with my kids I'm sure they would enjoy the show is much as I did. Thanks for posting there clips.

  • appeared in several school plays.....

as a tree stump ! roflmao

  • cia hitman lmao shyea right, good imagination though.

  • Jesus, how much coke was Barris snorting in those days? Then again, almost everyone in TV was in those days, but still...

  • barris never touched a drug in his life

he had a very addicted behavior

    he was excessive compulsive

he chewed up to 35 packs a gum a day

    nothin exceeded like excess

so with him had he touched a drug he'd be a junkie and surly o.d- he's alive and well today so surly he was straight as he has stated publicly

  • So he claims, I saw the same interview. Im dubious of the 35 packs of gum remark; it comes to a new piece of gum every 3 and half minutes, 24 hours a day. (if it was a 24 pack of gum double the figure) This is the guy who says he was a CIA assassin, who killed over 2 dozen people. Plus, look at him...he's out of his mind.

  • the gum thing was a harmless exageration, the cia is a joke and he is an author foolin peeps like you........he's straight......he still touches his heAD To this day a nervous twitch not a coke head wake up and smell the coffee go watch sam rockwell in lawn dogs or something box of moonlight was great also

  • Thank you for posting this! I was born in 1968 and watched every episode... my God this show was FREAKIN' FUNNY... the Seventies = funniest decade ever.

  • ditto man i was born in 68' also i came in here and watched all the old re-run's and remembered them instantly. The good old seventies being a kid growin up was definately kool and pretty burnt

  • Sorry u feel that way Nasty, but you have to admit that every reality show today owes it success to Chuckie and the Gong Show.

Why do u think fans of American Idol, love to watch the singers make fools of themselves. Chuckie did first, and he didn't need Paula of Randy.

  • @stingray2001 I agree with that statement.Maybe not 100%,but The Gong Show has definitely inspired a lot of today's producers and writers.

  • Im with Stingray if you were not old enough to dance in front of the tv like i did 6,7,8 years old you just dont get it!!

  • well im a good 10 years younger than you, im not saying its bad, its just not my taste

  • Some people call Chuck Barris a nut, and others call him a genius. I say that he's both. Best game show host that I've ever seen. I miss ole Chuckie and the Gong Show. What with all the game shows and reality shows filling the air these days because of the writers strike, I wish that they would bring back...

  • Thanks Stan, If you like that you might do an online search for stage6 and do a video search for The Chickie Show or search for user JusticeVideo

  • YOU prove why i am a goofball giggle goon GROUPIE of chuckie chuckie chuckie :):):) YOUr complilation here of kookindred kid spirit rocks :):):) YOU make me howl with gleee...ahooooooooo ahoooooooooo ahooooooooo thank U U U, johNUTTY :):):)

  • the Django Reinhart entrance!

  • we love this show. how did you get this clip?

  • GSN

  • greatest show ever. criminal that it was cancelled after two seasons. chuck was obviously drunk too, i think most people just don't get good parody. it was above people's heads.

  • The fun of the 70s!

This show was creative, wheres the creativity nowadays?

  • its out here on you tube, there are some really creative people out here who dont have any constraints,...problem is sifting through the endless crap out here to find it....

  • NBC cancelling the Gong Show was a blessing in disguise. 4:00 in the afternoon? What a stupid time slot! Chuckie in a tuxedo? Syndication was the proper place for it!

  • $516.32 is worth how much now? This show ruled.YAAAY CHUCKIE BABY

  • This Cat was cool ! I never missed a show of his.

  • Is it true the Chuck Barris worked for the CIA?

  • only chuck and the cia will really ever know...

  • @riserobot Several CIA agents deny any such affiliation with Chuck Barris.

  • yeah,the Cocaine Import Agency ..

  • My favorite was the unknown comic.

  • and the green fairies

  • chuck barris hit man and show man it is a amaizing life story!

  • This show was such a riot. Thank you YouTube for bringing these great memories back to us.

  • WE WANT CHARLIE!!

  • He was coked to the gills, you can tell.

  • Tells Basset hounds their mother was a shoe

  • BTW, whatever happened to the feathered-back hair on the likes of Siv Aberg? I hope that comes back in style again someday.

  • American Idol eat your heart out. This is what America wants. Bring back Chuckie Baby!!!

  • Next year, I propose American Idol to adopt the Gong Show format! If the singer sucks - GONG!!! By the way, where did Chucky Baby came up with those intros to the acts! I liked them... but then again I like prune juice.
