  • We are looking for 5!

  • I have one funny story to tell you and that is how fast I was reading my first 4 Japanese Manga books when I bought them. ~ I was reading at hyper speed (page-after-page-after-page)

Within 3 hrs I was done reading all 4 of them ~ I think you can say I was in a hyper mode after getting those books.

If I'm reading something really boring, then my ass will read it slowly, and if I like it (like a good Anime Manga book) I would speed through it.

  • its just like the game brain age. which works. I do not know how i get to certain levels some times. it just clicks. And its not luck because I am stuck on level 7 i started at 4

  • I'm so gonna learn this, it's always such a nice feeling when you occasionally find yourself reading a little faster than normal - it simply feels better when you don't need to stop and fool around at snail pace everywhere and can digest lots of text at once instead. ^_^

  • 10.5 secs for me

  • Hmm, that's interesting. I "subvocalize" (as they call it) when reading sentences, words, etc.. but I don't subvocalize when reading numbers :)

  • I noticed that I was using my larynx while reading the number, would it be helpful to do one of the other exercises and say a e i o u while doing this?

  • Damn it, my internet sucks.

  • 0:27 i found em all

  • HE DIDNT FOUND THE FIVE LOL

  • @LaSalviaBodysurf you shouldnt make fun of people. You didnt even use the right word. It should be find, not found.

  • @LaSalviaBodysurf YOU DIDNT FIND 'FIND' LOL

  • lol he kept looking back at the board looking for '5' his face said WHERE IS IT

  • @70nukes It's right there in the top left corner.

  • @70nukes except the one in the up-left corner :P

  • howtospeedreads.blogspot.com / How to speed read

how to speed read - If you’re looking to technic how to speed read or improve your speed reading then you’ve come to the right place!

Learning how to speed read has never been easier with this site

  • i got 4 spare seconds lol

  • I took speed reading and now i am dyslexic.

  • @blarson12

    Einstein was a dyslexic too.

    What's your point?

  • @The3nlightened0ne DON'T SPEED READ, IT WILL FUCK YOU UP.

  • 1...............

  • I finished with 11 seconds to spare, whats up with you guys?

  • @Quackman24 Same here. Do u read a lot already? Maybe that's why...

  • 17

  • he forgot to write 10

  • @Tainojinn he did?

  • @Tainojinn wel it's Time to put on your glasses son!

  • @Tainojinn

    no he didnt.

  • @Tainojinn 10's right there in the corner, honey :)

  • i made it to 9... it was shy

  • Thank you. I am a bad reader, so I hope this lectures will help me to read and understand. I can't focus my mind in what I am reading. Thanks, Math. And the people who leave comments because helped, too.

  • I finished by the time he zoomed out...

  • This is how EYE-Q the software basically works. they flash symbols around the screen and you have to find it with your eyes.

  • number 13...so illusive

  • Play high level sudoku.

  • does it work ??

  • Very practical example thanks for sharing it....by the way cute guy as well. lol

  • I am skeptical about speed reading techniques. Not that they might not work but I don't think you can read as in depth as you would with slow reading. I definitely think there are benefits to slow reading. I think they both have their merits.

  • @namitsu1 The deal between speed reading is to enhance your reading skills. Then, when it comes to studying you can able to understand and able to remember the words in slow-reading. Benefits of speed reading is that it increases your understanding.

  • i think skimming and scanning is not for every one, not every one has the same level to memorize what is being read. specially for me, when i skim stuff in reading part, i forget what i have just read..????? guys my advise for you is try doing " headings, and match the sentence" questions first,

  • Some one should make a program that pops up a window and scrambles a set of numbers for you, that would be cool.

  • Thanks, that was great!!

  • How often should we do these exercises? Daily? Multiple times/day?

  • This is good stuff!

  • great

  • Excellent exercise

  • T0mmyAngel0, some autistic people can flash memorize (my own term), so it's not impossible. It's just not damn likely for normal people.

  • Here is an interesting Youtube video - Search for "Speed Reading vs. Mental Photography" Fascinating information on how to activate your photographic memory!

  • Mental Photography is a joke!!! Dont believe it. The reading record is held by Anna Jones 4,244 Words per minute. So how 25.000 words are possible tell me?

  • Average 10 to 15 seconds.

But I did 20 seconds the first time, only because after he zoomed out I didn't stop until he started talking lol

  • yeah now all i get 3 seconds:/ this is just as good as real time b/c i timed myself and it's every three seconds before the clock hits the next number.

it do work with ur reading and if you try fallowing it with your hands you type fater to:p

  • if you are counting up 20 numbers that are scrambled, what is the average amount in seconds that your brain should count them up?

  • well you should start counting from 13 to 30 so only 17 seconds to do this.

i did it in 17 seconds not 20:p than i worked my way,-i did it for an hour- but now.... i do in like.... 4seconds but got close to 3:/

  • well the most i got was 4 but i did it for like an hour i started like doing it 20sconds i got close to 3 seconds

  • i read science mags would love to have the feeling of just sitting there reading a book but i get boarded and my mind wonders off i find i really need to concentrate. to be honest think im going to start to read more and stop watching so much bloody tv :)

  • Thats Great, more....

  • it took me some time to find 5 too loll

  • i cant remember the last time i read a book

  • AGHH! YOUR GOOD :D Thanks haha ;) I

  • It is an exercise. Try to do it in 5 seconds flat. that would be harder.

  • i never knew this was a skill cause i guess i naturally have it i put everything in order and had to wait for him to say thats enough

  • I got to 17... Shit.

  • LOL@ asq95a

anyways have this guys exercises been working for anyone?

  • speed reading is so awesome

  • wow i finished when you said. that should i have been enough time. i wasnt even done. i was at like 3. not really but still we are just young viewers that want to learn things and not be pressured by kids with unhealthy snacks gawddd

  • it's called a pause button, use it.

  • @danthemango didnt need to..

  • have you ever heard of something called the "pause buttom"?

  • lol

  • dude, you cracked me up. LMAO.

Never get too exited when learning lol.

  • Seriously? I just got to 20 when he said that's enough Lol, and I'm slow at reading.

  • me to its sad

  • theres a difference between reding diagonally horizontally backwrds forwards than left to right, top to bottom style because u know what to expect... see what i did... i made 4 pages... 1-10 1-20 1-30 and 1-40 in different patterns to help me train my eyes which actually helps alot for my memory and my eyes... if u think it doesnt work than it wont work because your mind is set that it wont work so it wont...

  • i noticed it works for the memory also, i think its because as you keep practicing you remember the locations of the numbers also

  • the bad thing about speed reading is when you blink you miss half a sentance!

  • What you said makes sense to me, but are you really sure that's 100% truth?

  • he dont find nr 5 ;)

  • The video has to be the biggest piece of steaming dump i have ever seen. My justification? ...fuck. I'm all outa ideas....

  • how does it helps read faster?

  • 1-20

  • nah man I found 20 1, can you see it lol

  • There's a 21 in there actually. First find nr. 2 then search for 17 and you'll see it.

  • Cool, i hope to get A+'s from now on with these helpful tips.

  • Another help tip! Thanks a bunch.

  • I just stared at the center at counted using periperal vision heh

But couldn't help saying the numbers in my head to keep track, slowed me down some

  • this is one my favorite games when I was a kid. it's more fun if you play with a friend and fight each other to circle the next number in series

  • Let me note that you make a excellent teacher..God bless you..

  • bible basher!

  • it was easy well thats what i thought.............

  • yh. 18 too. :)

  • got to 18

  • Thanks for this video, it really helps. god bless

  • i made it to 12 by the time he said that should've been enough time.. am i retarded?

  • LOL. funny comment. Im not bragging or anything but I was done and I was still waiting for him to say that should have been enough time.

  • i think you just need more practice

  • ha me too.. i heard him breathin getting ready to say times up and i just started blurting out numbers.. i hate how good he is

  • Yes, because you didn't pause the video.

  • Yes, because you didn't pause the video.

  • no. lolz!

  • @cram1nblaze lol

  • @cram1nblaze lol

  • @cram1nblaze Yes.

  • @cram1nblaze Definite possibility

  • @cram1nblaze Yes, yes you are

  • pretty good but a tip, raise the sound. My sound is already in full volume and its only on the normal level.

  • ehh that wasn't enough time for me >.> i guess I got a lot of practicing to do...

  • Kris is so sexy!!

  • Kris, from your last video you mentioned not vocalizing sounds as you read. When you scan these numbers should you use the same technique? I find myself vocalizing 'one', 'two', etc. which seems to work against what you've said. Thanks.

  • dis video is wel gud!!

  • hey thanks a lot for these videos. i will definitely start practicing. my math teacher is known for just gliding his finger down a page and completely comprehending everything... now i see how he can do that!

  • kris is hot

  • are u crazy?

  • rofl

  • LOL!

  • How many times a week/month do u have 2 "find the numbers"/do this exercise???

Whats the difference when u write down 40 numbers instead of 20 for example....will u get much better than before?

  • I think I got an Idea how to randomize this fairly well :

take a paper , cut it to 20-30 pieces and write on both sides , then just toss it around a small area and do it, the key by the way is associative memory from previous scans

  • Question: I can write a program to generate images of numbers, but should I use a brand new set of numbers each time I do the exercise, or should I use each set several times? Thanks.

  • do each bunch 2-3 times

  • Thanks a bunch for these lessons. This one in particular was really helpful. Instead of paper and pen, I simply used my paint program and made my number "scatters" there. I made 3 different one and practiced on them about 5 minutes each. By the time I got to my third set, I noticed that I was able to find the numbers faster.

  • Thank you. I will try

  • Hey thanks a lot for this video man, I've recently become thirsy for information and as such have purchased a lot of books. I feel like it takes too long to read a little bit sometimes. And this definitely seems like it will help

  • Some speed reading courses involve using a metronome as a guide for your eyes to scan to, do those work?

  • A metronome is a pace keeper, it simply pushes you to keep reading onward and not get caught on long words or lose concentration.

  • Thank-you, I have a hard time reading and understanding cetain vocabularies but practice makes perfect!
