i've been listening to a lot of 'girl in a coma' and i find that their lead singer, nina diaz has a lot of the same vocal phrasing that jolie employs.i bet she's a big fan.anybody agree?
I heard this song on the radio this morning for the first time, came in at the end of it and thought "Is she singing in English? What language is that?" But the melody and the electric guitar, and her voice itself, gave me goose pimples. Hearing it now, I can get the lyrics, and I think her voice is really soulful. The 'accent' is odd, but I think it gives her music a lot of character. I love a voice that has a distinctive character.
I agree her voice is very strange but I think I could get used to it. Not a fan of the southern drawl that much in music but she does have a nice singing voice and I like the lyrics/poetry
She's from Texas and she sings folk with a mix of other things, so maybe she just sings this way because it's unique, so for all you twits thinking she has speech impairment, learn to google.
There's a lot about her voice that I like, but ultimately, there's something too distracting about it - the way she's pronouncing things, it's like a strange accent is trying to creep through or something o.0
@yobhsiFehT i'm so sorry you feel this way - i am just the opposite, those chews and drawls are like opiates to me and i would be so so bummed if she ever untied that beautiful ribbon of a voice. be well and i hope you find what makes you happy. -frank-
What is that accent, exactly? I thought I watched an interview w/ her, and it's wasn't anything especially unusual, but I may be thinking of someone else.
beautiful .

Apparently it isn't Marc Ribot playing on this track, but Grey Gersten, so who the hell is this in the video?

I was hooked on this song first time I heard it. And that guitar sound by Marc Ribot is just stellar.

Texas. She sounds just like my family from Texas. You could be right I’m judging her accent based on her singing. I could be wrong.
