  • I love this performance, but Elton's tour in Australia with The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in the fall of 1986 was Elton's worst vocal performances of all time. However, he managed to come through this tour with the laryngitis he was operated for in 1987.

1986 is still to this day one of my favorite years of Elton's touring life and I still adore him for what he's doing and the true genius him and Bernie are!

  • Oh, man I was there at this night...thanks for uploading this...a most amazing performance. I love the mix of rock and orchesta. The percussionist almost stole Eltons limelight on that night, ha ha.

  • @terpie51 I think Ray Cooper would steal just about anybody's limelight.

  • London is like a one horse town and England is like a police state! Have mercy? they just verbal you!

  • I bought this on DVD a couple of years ago.

I don't know if its still available, but its been watched a lot at my place...

Was at the Melbourne concert earlier that week. Just bloody brilliant!

  • This was the most incredible show. Loved it from start to finish.

  • I remember seeing this concert live in Melbourne, Australia. one of the best live performances i have seen. I have been to every Elton John concert here in melbourne, cant wait to see him live again...........................

  • Thanks for posting. I agree with other comments on here that it's a shame this whole concert was never released on DVD. I remember this being on TV back in 1986 and was blown away by it.

  • @patchdog62 Just did a search through Amazon.co.uk it is available there for 30 pounds on DVD.

  • @Tekkiebear

Thanks Tekkiebear. I will check it out at Amazon. I still reckon this was one of Elton's best concerts. I have part of it on VHS but the tape is so old and starting to deteriorate.

  • a lot of live shows should be released on dvd; i mean why don't they? Is it because a lot of people now a days don't appriciate good music?

  • i used to have this on vhs! thanks for posting, papa!

  • Alabama blood red ground!

    Roll Tide!

    Don't get a flu shot!

    Don't take tamiflu!

  • His best concert ever. Elton was absolutely incredible that night! This show should be released on DVD.

  • agreed

  • @MyKindOfBlueEyes It is available on DVD as an import. There are some bootlegs floating around on Ebay--well worth the $20.

  • @MyKindOfBlueEyes

it has been, i saw this concert live twice here in AUS and have had the DVD for years now

  • yeah, it's a great intro but I prefer his classic Funeral for a friend/Love lies bleeding. The ending of course with Saturday.. etc..

  • thank you for following up on that. wow. most of the time people say that they're going to do stuff but they never do.

but you on the other hand have made it all good.

    take care.

    josh
