Sorry but wow, what a waist, I like JP but quiet poor version, it is like he's lacking of melody, it is really weired to speed up things suddenly and it sounded like guitar exercices in some moments...check out Lincoln Brewster's version it is the best imo!
I think that JP is the emblem of our years' guitar playing. It doesn't mean that he's the best one (even though he's amazing), but his technical skills, his high-speed accuracy, his improvising and composing solos style, the absolute mastery of the sound and the versatility are the skills that every guitar player of our time is supposed to try to reach.
I cant find words for his emotional expression from his soul to his fingers. Sure he can play fast but the extra touch in the tone is something that John has that i have never ever (except for Hendrix) heard from a guitarist

You can easily find the original lyrics and story behind Amazing Grace via Google. Many of us came to this vid wanting to see Petrucci's rendition (which is beautiful to me, a Christian) of one of our favorite hymns, many of us are responding to the video and other comments from our beliefs, and many of us along with our faith in Christ are being needlessly insulted.

if believing in god makes people happy why would you try to bring them down? personally i believe in god but i don't push it on people, you always hear people saying that other people push religion on them but in my experience i see more atheists pushing the whole "no God" thing than any group of evangelists. point is, God makes people happy, if your an atheist keep it to your self as a courtesy to your fellow human beings.

@shelton701 couldn't have said it better myself man. I do see more atheists pushing their "religion" (or lack there-of) on other people way more than the religious people i know ever do. As you put it, God makes people happy and the bibles teaches you to be a good, moral person. I am not religious by any means (in the sense that I go to church every sunday) but I do believe in God, and if I didn't have parents who brought me up on those religious moral principles, who knows where I'd be today.

They can believe all they want, that does not affect me. However I can still have a strong opinion about it, and I do. Perhaps if you view the church as just a meeting place for like minded ppl, churches are fine. But it's a symbol for something that I'm not a fan of.

The bible says he was always there, and since everything human has a beginning and an end, thats hard for us to imagine. I think that having faith in a religion makes life easier, and that's why there are so many religions. But if you don't believe, then that's your choice.

If you are under 30, that's understandable, a pimpled frustrated little boy needs to listen to some vomit vocals to feel like a man (by the way, do you search for the lyrics on the internet to understand what they are saying?). Also, he needs to hear some fast riffs and some double bass drumming to bang his head on the walls. But if you are over 30, man, you've got a BIG problem.

How can you separate the MESSAGE of a song from THE INSTRUMENTAL PART, just because you don't believe in something others believe? If you want to take it just as a work of art, it's your business and your own choice... but this song was written to praise God and you just cannot say that there is no place for religion in it.

Accepting Jesus Christ is what it took for ex-slave trader John Newton to cease in his revolting practices and later pen the words of Amazing Grace. Accepting Jesus Christ is what it took for the apostle Paul (formerly Saul) to stop killing Christians and become the 2nd-most prolific writer of the New Testament and to even be willing to die for the faith. Why such drastic turn-arounds? Because Christ is legit.

This is what we do by denying and trying to defying Him thru sin. Our record of sin renders us guilty before a perfectly just Judge who must punish sin. An eternity of not settling that account means an eternity of guilt. What He has offered is our replacement to take our sentence upon Himself by offering Himself as a sacrifice for us.

@Petruccibear I remember, before coming to faith in Jesus, I placed a tremendous amount of weight on the argument from authority that basically said that Christianity cannot be true because only dumb people believe it. In holding to such an argument, I realized that I didn't WANT Christianity to be true. I hope that you will be capable of holding back the urge to insult as I used to, and actually be intellectually honest enough to really consider challenges to your present faith.
