  • If it's any thing that this place(not the explosion) is an Easter egg in fallout new Vegas or more of a location

  • An old guy, the owner, stayed to be sure his people got out. He died. The first explosion likely got him, the second for sure. He died bravely, quickly, and if you gotta go, spectacularly.

  • @krashly71 He wasn't the owner and he was disabled with polio. Someone should have carried him off.

  • godamn its like a small nuke

  • no its not a tourist attraction. its a real explosion. one person actually died in this explosion.

  • I never saw a shockwave like that...uuuuhhh...

  • did anyone see the flying thing between second 46 and second 47 half way up the screen on the right?i have no freezeframe or zoom please look closely

    trebor001x

  • I clicked on the Pause at 0:47... there's no "flying thing." Most likely a lens flare or video rec error.

Oh and that explosion was epic. Good thing it was out in the desert or a lot more ppl would've been hurt!

  • PEPCON with an N. you got it right one time, but the other 3 are wrong

  • at least Nevada was already a worthless shithole.

  • this wasnt because of careless smoking it was workers who were welding and a stray spark hit some nearby cloths and sent everyone into a panic....read the review journal from vegas

  • i live not even a mile away

  • i've seen this yesterday on Discovery Channel...But what was a reason of that?

  • A guy threw a cigarette into a bin of highly explosive waste ammonium perchlorate. Which is what they use to make among other things, fireworks.

  • gosh... smoking kills...

  • For anyone who actually gives a damn about technicalities, ammonium perchlorate's mass is around 80% Oxygen (forgot exact percentage) making it a potent oxidifier (dont know if thats the real word). its used in rocket fuel, too

  • Incorretc. Ammonium perchlorate is not explosive and is not even considered flammable on its own. It only serves as an accelerant. The cause of this disaster was found to either be a welder's spark or a stray cigarette dropped into a waste bin with *contained* AP, but also needed the other dust and debris in the bin as fuel. The fire quickly spread due to a reaction between the AP and the drums they were stored in. The explosions were caused by a leak in the gas line which ran beneath the plant.

  • On May 4, 1988, Pacific Engineering and Production Company (PEPCOM), 8 miles southwest of Henderson, NV, registered a 3.5 on the Richter scale when 9 million pounds explodes and damages 7,000+ home, some more than 2 miles away. Unbelievably, of all the employees madly fleeing from PEPCOM through the desert, only 2 people are unable to escape death; 1 man who stayed to hit the evacuation siren and called 9-1-1 thereby saving hundreds of lives.

  • A hero. Thank God for people like him.
