there are many upon many different types of bass's.

probably the most famous ones are the percision style bass, and the jazz style bass, originally produced by a company called fender.

but other companies have taken the concept and adapted it for their own products.

the main difference between a percision and a jazz bass are the pickups, and the shape.

percision gives a more raunchy sound

and jazz gives a smoother sound.

I don't care if it was the last, but it was f'in fantastic. He did bring the solo in a half a measure early in an ingenious way that worked for a monster talent such as his. I have always admired and copped his prowess to the best of my ability. A bassist could do much worse than measure up to half a John.

This was actually from 1999. It's part of a DVD called "The Vegas Job". Which was one of the biggest scans in internet history. Wasn't their fault though. But, you are right, this isn't his last performance.
