Dude you did a great job on this video. Good choice of music and way to go through the whole sequence. Hooah. and for a few of you making comments about airborne and paratrooper... anyone can fall from a bird... but only a select few are AIRBORNE. not paratrooper. Airborne is an embodiment of a character, not a word...heart and actions.
Paratrooper's Those who make an Airborne jump into a combat zone, suzh as the 5 during ww2, 2 during korea, and a few in nam. not counting 2 in afghanistan. This has been lost on young recruits, to be airborne is not the same as a paratrooper, any one can be airborne, but to have a star to go with that bird is something completley different. Ive got mad respect for anyone with a CIB.
a paratrooper is any airborne qualified person with more then 11 jumps
5 you a 5 jump chump
6th you just poped your cherry
7-10 you a rookie after 11 one foe each letter in paratrooper you become one
the cib and the cab have only 1 different requirement to be infantry the fact that more and more non infantry are called in to do theri job is a seperate issue
lol they dont get it...like you said, anyone can be airborne, even POG's. The meaning behind the word 'paratrooper' resides with the airborne INFANTRYMEN! Those who have fought and continue to fight. Everyone can be an airborne soldier, not everyone can be a paratrooper!
Really. What about those Engineers you use for breaching that march, fight and win with the Infantry? The redlegs that fire the mission that saves the Infantry? What about the Cavalry that recons in advance of the assault? Get off your high horse. There are a lot that can be tasked with the same missions of the Infantry, but that Infantry can not be tasked with their missions. Don't believe me? Come do some ballistic breaching and see.
Not likely. Any soldier in trouble depends on whoever can get there. Infantry has had to have their ass pulled out of the fire as well. Why else would FA have a branch.
All of what you just said is true...i respect them because they are all combat arms mos's. 19d cav scouts are in this day in age basically qualified infantrymen, combat engineers are some bad ass dudes. The point i was trying to make is that the word 'paratrooper' was created and used during wwII
And those men in wwII who were airborne infantry and were tasked with actually fighting the enemy from behind enemy lines, and doing it damn well. That's why the word is soo important to them, because the airborne infantrymen who fought to give it such credibility deserve it. Not a cook who went to jump school...no offense to the cook. But there IS a difference in the objective each will have during war time.
Jump out Private Ryan? Nice video.
