In 1970, I had a shot at #3223, the first GTO. Price $7000. I was driving a Bizzarrini GT Strada, A0324 at that time, which cost the same amount. The GTO owner said someone had made a deposit on the car. I told him to send the deposit back, as I was prepared to pay 7K that same day. He refused and the rest is history. GTOs and GT Stradas all the work of Giotto Bizzarrini. A Bizz today is ~450-500K, a GTO...24-26million. Oh well..............
Originally coloured China Red it was repainted in 1992 for a Mr Dyer, who wanted it that colour.
It was originally sold to a Miss Reynolds (A Tobacco heiress), who at the time was engaged to Luigi Chinette Jr. Whose Father, Luigi Chinette was the head of sales of Ferraris in the USA.
Mr Dyer used to drive it regually to Las Vegas and would leave it parked in side streets while he gambled, he also taught his son to drive in it
The car was then purchased by a Mr Wang in the UK in late 1992.
