  • Well, it worked. The next two start attempts we perfect. I 'll just give it a few more days to be sure and I'll be taking my wife's Scenic down for a fix. Special thanx to my mechanic, Terry, for allowing me to show him your vid and watch proceedings. I guess he was relieved at finding a solution to the problem just as much as me! Thanx Adam for your vid and explanation. :-)

  • @Muso57 I'm glad your vehicle is now running again, if i can help you with anything else let me know, my car has now 125k miles on it and i have gained some valuable knowledge/experience over my time of ownership. Thanks again - adamh108ta.

  • Thanx very much for this, Adam. I have exactly the same start up problems as described here and will have my mechanic have a look at it tomorrow. :-)

  • I have TDC sensor failure eg clatter or knocking sound when warm but intermittent so I took it off to clean but its a hole in the middle so how would i clean it?

  • @jblsound13 there is a tiny magnet (metal piece) at the bottom of the sensor. Use some fine grit sandpaper and sand it lightly then clean it with a cloth and some oil. Now completely dry the part off and make sure it is oil free and you are ready to re-fit the part. Hope this helps. Adam

  • thanks fella! All better now!

  • Watched it, did it and car now sorted. Thanks for a great video.

  • I have a Laguna 2 1.8 Petrol. It cranks but fails to fire/start. It will start ok if towed/jumped. Is this likely to be the TDC sensor?

  • @checksumerror101 Yes i would clean tdc sensor and take it from there. Hope this helps. Adam

  • I would like to whole hearted thankyou for sharing this video! My car was not starting after few runs! So, I just followed the instruction provided in this video to remove the TDC sensor and clean it. And when I fitted this back, I dont see this problem again! Thanks again!

  • @archeng123 sorry don't know much about that, i've heard the immobilisers are pretty good on these renaults though and are hard to bypass. Adam

  • Yup, saved me a few quid and, importantly, I now have confidence the scenic will start when I need it to. Thanks for the advice, AdamH108TA

  • Great video, iv'e got the same problem on my clio 03, i took the air filter off to give more room to undo the bolts, i have managed to remove one but can't seem to get the other one off, there is very little space and i don't want to round of the bolts. any advice would be appreciated.
