  • what sport is this?

  • This is what's inside my head when something comes at me xP

  • This was actually pretty original.

  • I couldn't care less whether it was cgi or not. I was totally impressed. One of the best bullet time vids I've seen in a while. Nice one!

  • you should put some motion blur or some way of showing air pressure..

  • Awesome :) You should of added some silly unrealistic time distortion effects around the ball to make it seem more real lol If you know what i mean:)

  • Dude, good job:D And if you did this three years ago I would realy enoy what ur like now:D

  • woah man, tutorial please!!!!!

  • good effect but this is not bullet time!

  • it's cool as hell ;D

  • According to my calculations, t = tangent force r = rotational vector g = gravity L = linear movement then:

(t)(r)^2/g * L(r) shows that as the camera moves with the ball, the rotation would relatively appear to slow down. For example, the people on earth only see one side of the moon even though the moon is rotating on its own axis.

  • rly fake xD, u need -> motion blur

  • Nice shot (pun intended) [referencing both the hockey shot and the camera shot]

  • i thinks its awsome, i know i cant do it, but the one thing maybe u should edit a little bit more is the ball rolling on the ground, and instead of using a coutout of the ball, use the actual ball and throw it into the net

  • @1XMadcowX1 I agree. The video was really really good until the ball made it to the net. Then it really turned amateur as the ball didn't roll. If you fixed this, you'd be working on the next block buster! Well done and please fix!

  • Great job, you're a talented person there Cosmos Darwin. The ball looks incredible, I love how you used a pivot to film it, great idea. And the blur background is genius. Best YouTube effort Ive seen all day, and my job is looking for good after effects. Hey why not subscribe to my videos?

  • you can tell the ball is 3d cgi

  • @holyshizzlefilms I find this infinitely amusing, everyone keeps telling me obvious things about my video, and almost without exception, they're wrong. The ball is real; I spun it on a pivot in front of a blue screen. See my demo reel, if you're really interested.

  • @CosmosDarwin oh now i can sort of see a blue outline on the ball a little.

  • @CosmosDarwin it looks c.g becase its so sharp referred tho the background maybe blur it slighty and itsperfect! its a shame that you used a real ball but that it looks c.g.i

  • @CosmosDarwin

yeah i was gonna say, if that was cgi, that's fuckin good detailing :P

but yeah, the pivot would deffs be less time consuming

  • @holyshizzlefilms well u would obviously know this is a cgi effect, but the ball looks quite realistic

  • @holyshizzlefilms Imposed/overlayed on a background doesn't mean it's CG

  • @holyshizzlefilms FUCKIN PWNED

  • Obviously based on "the tutorial" but at least you're someone who does't just copy exactly what Andrew's doing. Well done!

  • @coolcam262 I can honestly tell you this was done of my own invention. To what tutorial are you referring ?

  • great job, keep it up:)

  • and 5 smashed cameras later...we got this

  • @GrahamCorlet- Lol, those are SLR cameras. They don't use high speed cameras on the whole rig, that would be crazy expensive. I know the effect can be done, just not with a high speed camera. No one does bullet time with high speed cameras. That's what I meant by the time-slice rig. The video you linked me is basically a time-slice rig, timed to let time progress slowly as the viewpoint orbits. That's why my sarcasm should have been obvious.

  • @GrahamCorlet - I know about that, but it can't be executed like in this video, that was part of the sarcasm. There is not a single person that can chase a fast object with a camera like that. High FPS cameras are always either stationary, or panning kinda fast (but the fast camera move looks slow on playback). For a guy to really record a ball like that, he would have to move the camera mega fast and focus super quickly. Only time slice rigs can do that.

  • nice :D

  • @GrahamCorlet - lol, I was being sarcastic.

  • Very good, how did you to this? :)

  • This is pretty impressive!!

  • lol

    ..▲

    ▲ ▲

  • Is that Mars flying? XD

    No actually it's awesome .

  • Before I read the description of this vid, it looked as if the guy hit a lacrosse ball with a hockey stick. But, I guess the hockey road ball and a lax ball just look similar. Great job on the video!

  • tut plz ?

  • Nice! which software you used to make it?

  • Co za asy...

  • PERFECT DON'T LISTEN TO THE NON-LOVERS

  • Why the hell is everyone saying this is fake? He's using a video effect dumb fucks.

  • NICE

  • Dude, like no joke, this is what got me into 3D work. For Jul. 2008 this is very original and EPIC! Keep it up and let the trolls come out of the closet on other videos.

  • That's really cool man, keep up the good work

  • Quando acertou a bola, não parou de se mecher até no Slow Motion

  • this looks so aweseome

  • FAKE AND GAY!!!!

  • Very cool!!!! This was epic :D

  • @thekk2007 shut up, troll. xD

  • @CosmosDarwin FAKE AND LESBIAN !

  • @CosmosDarwin dude we all do know this is fake and shitty. No rayfaggotjohnson quotes.

  • @thekk2007Bullet-Time Effects Test..... EFFECTS....... GET IT?

  • @thekk2007 fake and gay? make a video better than this then you talk, until you do that, shut your mouth

  • @Supernatura4Life trolled (trollface)

  • @thekk2007 - No dud, this is actually real. I saw it on a documentary on the discovery channel about this guy that is rely good with cameras and can speed up the camera on the spot to record live bullet time shots. This is the real deal. Srsly, google it, I am not shitting you.

  • @danielodors if its real, then how could you explain the guy is moving though it was in slow mo. and explain the net. :)

  • @thekk2007 are you for real?

  • @thekk2007 obviouly its fake dumb ass gust because its fake doesent make it gay fucktard..... :)

  • @YeahItsPiero trolled

    trollface.jpg

  • @thekk2007 real and straight

  • Well done man.

  • OMG! THE BEST VIDEO ON YOUTUBE!!! :O

  • weird... even if it is a slow-mo animation, the guy in the background keeps moving like it's not..

  • @TheKljovoReloaded yeah coz his camra sucks and cant go slo mo!

  • @TheKljovoReloaded for all we know, maybe he where just moving really fast... :)

  • @TheKljovoReloaded maybe he panned istaed of doing the picture shots....he moved with the ball

  • well, i could never do anything like that, so awesome job!

  • Nice, but . . . . When the ball went into slowmo the person still moved in normal time. Otherwise sweet as

  • great !!! 100000000000000000/5

  • Wow... Very creativ!!! Awesome

  • can someone help me make this effect because i have a physics project to do over a month and i really want to recreate this effect but with a shot put, so if anyone can help me please me.

  • freaking awesome!!!!!!!!! is there any tutorial for this or is it just using videocopilot bullet time effect

  • awesome 5/5!

  • not bad. not bad at all, actually!

The ball was a little too perfect and the background was a little screwed up, but other than that, perfect effect!

    5/5

  • background wasent screwd up. it was ment that the camera focus on the ball and if a camera does taht, then the background get like that

  • i meant how the ball blended with the background. If you notice, the ball has weird edges. You can also tell it's a panoramic scene.

  • hey,

The ball does have kind of weird edges, there's a slight blue tint, even. I've learned a lot since I did this clip two years ago. About the background, though, it's not a digital pan over a panoramic scene, I really did pivot the camera on a tripod. Hence the rough start/stop on the turn.

  • Hmm... that's weird.

Might've just been the focus thing playing with my eyes.

No matter what, it's tight. I wanna see this in 1080p.

  • aha

  • Please, please make a tutorial!

  • I can appreciate the clip so much more now that I know how the work that was done.

  • Very obvious on how you made it, It was good though.

  • How did he make it?

Also, i think the only thing i noticed was the background is still normal speed when blurred out, but still a couple billion times better than what i could do.

  • Ball is obviously just one of those 3D images that spins. he just keyed everything into place. Added some blur and there you go, not very hard to do.

  • It made it over a year ago, so I have to agree at this point that its quite straight forward to see how I made it. The ball isn't a 3D model, though, I just filmed it spinning on a fixed axis. See my demo reel for insight.

  • Did you use a camera tracking software? If so, what software?

  • No, the entire clip was assembled in Premiere. I didn't even have After Effects at the time - though I do now.

  • @CosmosDarwin hey tried to find your demorrrell on this subject didnt see it in there :)

Ps. would you mind ecplaining, how you and what ROTSCOPING IS, caus eyou seem to use it in quite alot of movies :D

  • @Shhadow74 arent simple soultions always the best?

  • ooo you so smart!

  • EXCELENTE TRABAJO

  • A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!!

    5 STARS!!!

  • so sick

  • nice work

  • awsomely cool

  • great job!

  • omg Great!

  • Did you use a tutorial...I've noticed one just like this one...

    Thanks, Peter

  • No, I came up with the method on my own - you get a brief demonstration of how it went together in my demo reel.

    Thx for the comment :)

  • Thanks...

  • that's a really good vfx!!! it looks very real!

one little thing: the light on the ball has to change the angle when the camera is panning.

but all in all it looks very professional!!

  • why, the sun can't move that fast lol

  • Comment removed

  • the sound effect should only be played when the ball comes close. it starts before it even gets hit!

  • curve the hockey ball....

  • Cool!

  • Dude, no way. That ball looks so real. You're too skilled at that. :P

  • very nice, did you use video co pilot's tutorial?

  • No, I didnt know Andrew Kramer had one... I'll be sure to check it out. By the way I just noticed you're the guy with the sick choreography LS fight... I'm a big fan. :)

  • Wow it looks very clean and sharp. Great job 5/5

  • What a sweet shot.
