Why is it that no1 in MMA/other full contact sports fight in this manner? Because it doesn't work in real fights vs skilled opponents.
Will it work vs rowdy drunks/street punks? Definately, but bring on a thug who is really trying to kill you & this style will fold like a paper dragon.
Research the first UFCs when they were still open martial art events & watch the old Gracie challenge videos as they beat other masters.
No, I' not a BJJ guy, BUT I do use some. I follow no single style.
This was the show-event of the WT-Union between two british Linieages and the EWTO.
Sifu Pfaff shows off on purpose - those who think, that this was a demonstration of the WT-System should consider his opinion and watch for the term `advertisement´ in his dictionary.
I would like to have the skill and trust of Sifu Pfaffs Partner appreciated, but some dont - as it appears.
People r commenting on something they obviously do not understand! I have been to his seminars and I can tell this guy is doing WT but has only different teaching methods then most of WT schools. I would like everyone who says he is crap and fake to go to train with him and even challenge him...U would immediately change ur opinion. He is one of the best sifus I ever met. And he is very, very educated regarding martial arts. And he does not disrespect other martial arts like you guys r doing.
i can't stop watching this vid... haha i only hope to be half as good as him one day...
all of you who think that isnt wing tsun just dont understand what they are seeing. at the begining he his doing the wooden dummy form as an air drill. idk about some of those kicks though. i mean i see a lot of Chi-Gurk. but who knows, if he can do it then more power to him.
and if you think that those aren't centerline attacks then you REALLY dont understand WT
Check out Kevin Chan Wing Chun. What style is this idiot doing? No centre line attacks and hes there slapping and doing spin back kicks. Wow! What a fraud. I would chain punch him into reality...........
A very crap unrealistic demo yes! Why demo something that is crap wing chun? And why dress like your out of a kung fu movie? This guy is an idiot and so are you....

You know what I love about you tube? The fact that nearly every video of any of the martial arts is footnoted by comments about how bad they are and how much better something else is. Most of them written by bad mouthed morons. If some of you guys were as good as you thik you are then we'd be atching videos of you on here...
Pfaff is the real deal. I was completely amazed to see him work/teach and have to say that for such an incredible fighter he is one of the nicest fellows I have ever come across. If you ever have the chance to work with him, do it.
i saw sifu pfaff switch from crane, thai boxing, wrestling, karate, and a few other animal styles without stopping, it was all continous. he did the same 4 movements, nook sao, with all of them. i've never seen anything like it. i still can't believe it. amazing. it just shows there is no style it is all the same. just how you do it.
i think he can do anything as far as martial arts goes. this looks video looks most like the crane stuff he did if that helps you guys figure out what style he is doing lol.
I suggest you get a bigger screen then, one that doesn't cut off the 'about this video' description to the right of the video. Then you won't have to debate things you obviously can't see.
i dont know what you are saying. your first post says what the hell is this crap. i replied its a demo. on my screen it says demo on the title and the about this video on the right.
Jsampras3, WT may look like Slappy Fights in demonstration, But there is much understood the same in this style as in Muay Thai and BJJ. If you took true competitors of these styles, they would agree on much the same. But the truth is there is a place for everything. Much of WC has been sought after for show, but many of the theory's and concepts are deeply in-bedded in other martial arts, that includes the styles you mentioned.
Wing chun isn't entirely about slap-fighting. It employs the technique known as fa-jing. Unfortunately if you over-train this technique it damages joints thus it is not used in demonstrations due to it's effectiveness and danger of inflicting damage on your opponent.
Because of the bodys make-up if you use fajing without hitting your pulling on joints in the wrong way and force itself rips on the tendons and muscles.
When looking at a Wing Tsun being practiced or demonstrated, it's easy to miss the effectiveness of it. WT is not a sport, so it cannot be demonstrated by way of awarding points. It has no acrobatics, and so often it not look as impressive as some other martial arts.
I can understand why someone may call it a "stupid martial art", as they clearly have no knowledge of the art, and are just watching someone demonstrate it.
I'm one of Sifu Pfaff's students and the only YT teacher in the US. I'm in San Antonio, Texas. I'd like to prove any BJJ guys wrong about traditional WT or YT. BJJ is a sport with rules, it fails in real combat.
How do you explain Royce Gracie in early UFC, then? Back then, UFC was close to "real combat", except it's only 1vs1, whereas in reality, you might have multiple opponents. In that case, BJJ fails, of course.
Sifu Pfaff has been doing martial arts since he was 12. He is like almost 40 now. He taught at the castle 8 hours a day 6 days a week for many years. Then he would train his stuff on top of that. He is also very good in escrima and can switch back and forth between the two with ease. Actually I have seen him switch from Wrestling to Boxing to Muay Thai to Chinese animal styles.
Many of you will say you can beat him up. But you have not.
Sifu Pfaff lives in Germany. He just left the organization. Alot of other schools want to join him. He is very busy. I think the instructor from Austria is a little confused about what to teach. That stuff is for beginning students and can be added to everything else in the normal programs. For example if it deals with knees and elbows it would go into student level 5 program.
That's one of the most hilarious videos I've ever seen. It's a fucking mockery, seriously.
As for the guy that said Mr. Pfaff would "whip" up anyone in MMA, well, why doesn't he? Practically everything he did in this video would be allowed in the major promotions.
And before someone accuses me of MMA elitism: I practise a traditional art myself.
He has LatSao programms with big boxing gloves...And the biggest problem: no sparring. Now I'm not sayin' he's not a good technician or even a good fighter, but unfortunately he also chooses to be firstly a salesman.Too bad.
Pfaff didn't left EWTO ''a few years ago'' - he started his own organization at the beginning of 2005. And you do know what's the deal with his sistem - but I do. And it's not something nice.In 6 months he showed 3 different Siu Lim Tao, he's always changing it.The last one looks like freakin' shaolin or something.I think he's inspiring from some of the ''mainland China'' Wing Chun branches.Wider movements and muscle force.
Speaking from 8 years of Muay thai and 3 years of wrestling/ brazilian jiu jitsu, I know for a fact that I would be able to pound that guy like he was a little kid. Martial arts like that are so fucking inneficient. Pretty, but thats about it. I've gone to plenty of dojo's and had my rough and ready group fight against their leaders and stuff, and its always the same... Domination. Sorry, this stuff just doesnt work.
the actual deal is in infight he would beat u even on the ground just at kicking distance u might have a chance.. n i dont think hes that good n just 2 say it i did wt,muay t,ju j,boxing, chines boxing,n savate i can kill u P
what would a demo from your rough and tumble group look like? (cuz this is a demo, and extremely exagerrated so that the audience can see. any good fighter would know that you cant judge a book by its cover.)
In Austria. And I also attended 2 seminars with H. Pfaff.Impressive speed, great sensitivity - but nothing free. The assistents are tryin' to hit in the beginnning - but not too convincing - and then they become ''flesh&bones dummies''.Too much time spent in EWTO (the no sparring-land).
The teacher himself said that all the drills from level 1-3 are just ''preparation ''.And guess what?We never go further - even guys with one year in the school, they are still doin' the 1-3 programms. And those drills you do them empty handed for 15 minutes and another 20 min. with big boxing gloves.Siu Lim Tao we do once in a week, one time - and only the first section. And when I asked the teacher about sparring, he said we have too many drills to train, there's no time for sparring.
Question for you ''SifuVT'': do u know what's the training like in Pfaff Yong Tjun?More than 20 minutes of warming up - including push-ups, stretching and some soccer-type jumps ( but they call this Leopard Step, tiger step, snake step, crane step). And then you have everytime the same 3 or four drills from Pak Sao flow - stuff that instead of helping, they give you dangerous habits - like trying to stop a hook with inside Pak Sao.
A demo like this made me join one of his schools.I wasted 6 months training on this shite - and still have to pay for the classes till december (although I'm not attenting anymore) - because you must sign a contract for an year when u join. And -yeah - I was dumb enough to sign it...
Well. It depends on the individual training and self devotion to the aystem of WT. If someone never train his forms and sit watching some videos, he can never learn.
MMA suits the ring. Wing Chun is for the street. Those UFC fighters are used to submision skills and takedowns. Real fights go in seconds, you get hit and you are dead. Wing Chun will always be the best in speed and borrowing your opponent force against him.
Blabla "wing chun is for the street". I don't know how many times I've heard that shitty argument. What makes _ing_un better than MMA firstly? It's "chi sao" or it's forms and various drills?OR IT'S FUCKING LACK OF SPARRING AND ALIVENESS maybe? And what makes you think that a profighter who trains and fight all the time, and compete against other pro fighters (with minimal rules),would have more problems than a wing chuner who does nothing but DRILLS and forms shit? Are you retarded or something?
How many pro fighters is the average martial arts guy going to encounter on the street? Wing tsun is self protection for the everyday person. You don't have to be some roided up gorilla to maske it work like in MMA
It's been proven over and over again that being a "roided up gorilla" is NOT enough to win in MMA against quality opposition.
The only opponents the "gorillas" can beat in MMA seem to actually be guys like those demonstrating in this video.
Not a single top fighter, and very few lower-class fighers, succeed in MMA using physical power alone. All of them train technique rigoriously, and most of them have prior training in other martial sports.
hmm, nothing but drills and forms? lat sao and chi sao are in many ways fighting, not drills or forms. i'm only in pg.5 and its still way more powerful and alive than any other art I've trainned in.
yeh i he must be great especially because his opponent resists so much! I also like how his opponent doesn't fake falling to the ground from blows that don't actually land, oh and also how he telegraphs every blow thats coming as well as even jumping from a fake palm uppercut...amazing
Why, what makes MMA so special in your opinion. Wing Tsun is very direct and faster than MMA techniques. Some people goes for the looks of people. They think being aggressive looking and big muscled is the whole thing. Wing Chun is borrowing force and the bigger the opponent, the more power can be used against him.
What makes MMA so special? MMA fighters are professional fighters that train every GODDAMN days, plus they undergo a serious diet and they do musculation. That's the first thing that makes these MMAers WAY better than 99.9999% of the _ing_uners.The second and most important thing is that they CROSS-TRAIN in different arts.Usually BJJ muay thai and wrestling._ing_un is already crappy, so it wouldn't be able to do shit against a pro MMA fighter.
Go find a Practioner in WingTsun a Master 5th and above and get him to hit you with Bui Tze... Then you will understand... For all those people that think it looks kak.. Well in the demo he can't go full on cos he'd kill the guy or he'd end up smashed to pieces...
He was nicknamed the CAT and he taught my instructor at Langenzell castle in Germany for 3 1/2 years full time... I was happy to achieve my Technician there! :p
i have been to one of his seminars and he moves faster then is on the clip and he yes would whip on anyone in a mma or ufc because if you really knew your stuff you would be able to see how clean he moves and from feeling first hand. he is holding back alot!!!!!!!!!!!!

Siracuza 5 years ago
Well. It depends on the individual training and self devotion to the aystem of WT. If someone never train his forms and sit watching some videos, he can never learn.
SifuVT 5 years ago
Yeah, some people just don't get it...try something basic like TKD (by the way, contracts do suck)

It's a demo... If it was a fight demo it would be a BLUR and pointless for the un trained EYE to watch.....

MMA suits the ring. Wing Chun is for the street. Those UFC fighters are used to submision skills and takedowns. Real fights go in seconds, you get hit and you are dead. Wing Chun will always be the best in speed and borrowing your opponent force against him.
SifuVT 5 years ago

You don't have to be some roided up gorilla to maske it work like in MMA
chainpuncher 5 years ago

Dead forms, scripted patterns. This is beautiful in the same way ballet is beautiful, but it is not fighting.

impresive, ..hmm, i wonder where he got those robes, i want some...

yeh i he must be great especially because his opponent resists so much! I also like how his opponent doesn't fake falling to the ground from blows that don't actually land, oh and also how he telegraphs every blow thats coming as well as even jumping from a fake palm uppercut...amazing

give me a break!what's he supposed to do, kill him???IT'S A DEMO!
chainpuncher 5 years ago
.....I love CMA and all, but you guys are dellusional if you think he will beat anyone in MMA/UFC, and I don't even like MMA that much.
cloud0123 5 years ago
Why, what makes MMA so special in your opinion. Wing Tsun is very direct and faster than MMA techniques. Some people goes for the looks of people. They think being aggressive looking and big muscled is the whole thing. Wing Chun is borrowing force and the bigger the opponent, the more power can be used against him.
SifuVT 5 years ago
What makes MMA so special? MMA fighters are professional fighters that train every GODDAMN days, plus they undergo a serious diet and they do musculation. That's the first thing that makes these MMAers WAY better than 99.9999% of the _ing_uners.The second and most important thing is that they CROSS-TRAIN in different arts.Usually BJJ muay thai and wrestling._ing_un is already crappy, so it wouldn't be able to do shit against a pro MMA fighter.
Sokaku 5 years ago
Go find a Practioner in WingTsun a Master 5th and above and get him to hit you with Bui Tze... Then you will understand... For all those people that think it looks kak.. Well in the demo he can't go full on cos he'd kill the guy or he'd end up smashed to pieces...
