Thanks to your video, I now have the song down. I've noticed that most tabs are either incomplete, in error, or they get the fret right but miss the bends....so THANKS. I can now play it all the way through with you! It took a lot of stopping it and sometimes playing one second at a time to get it down. It is also possible I can't read tab worth a darn.

You are note for note to the recording. Wish you could do a slowed down version so I can see where your fingers are at on the fret board easier. I'm learning it form tab, but it is slow going.... I got the Hendrix version down, now want this one down as well. Plan on on playing Hendrix version with clean jazz sound followed immediately by this version. Great chops there, thanks!
JVuott13, yes and at the same time it's kinda sad that so few have seen the original Dominos together touring. Duane played with them on 2 dates. Thats was it. The story goes that Clapton offered him to stay on but DA had other plans, which of course were shorlived when he died almost a year later. His premature passing was the most likely reason why so few attribute the Layla sessions to Duane as well as the rest of the Dominos.
well i heard the two shows with duane were a disaster but all of the dominos were doing huge amounts of coke and heroin at the time. anyway, duane makes this whole album complete. the song layla would not be there without him!
Hey, really nice playing. Glad to see someone recognizing how great this version is. JFYI, those are actually Duane Allman's solos, thru-out the whole song. Eric filled in a little bit during the chord/arppegios. You can tell by the strat-like of Eric's rhythm compared to Duane's Les Paul Gold Top tone. The bends are a dead giveaway, typically Duane Allman!
great job the best cover of this ive found

I think you just brush your thum across the strings
ClocktowerGuardian 2 years ago
i figured it out,
starts on C# and goes down pretty easy from there. then the second time it hits D
zdoiron 2 years ago
you hit the A string and high E at the 17th fret slide to the 14th-12th-7th-5th-Up to 17th-14th-12th-7th
chuntoon007 2 years ago

I think this is the only Derek and the Domino's version of "Little Wing" on YouTube. Thank God it's a good one!
My favorite version, and you play it amazing. Seeing you play it, now I can see how hard it actually is. How long did it take you to learn it?
Thanks for sharing. Great strat, and the tone is beautiful as well.
