I had forgotten of Minnis's original until the bar scene in Jackie Brown--stuck out like a fantastic sore thumb--had to wait for credits to see who the familar artist was---
I keep thinking of the nameless guy on the subway station about 10 weeks ago. There is something magic about feeling a connection with a stranger. I just don't know what. All i know is, this is love pulling inside a gravitation...
Trina Broussard sing this version of inside my love! Her 's is more of a tempo sound and of a soul feeling. Now the original Minnie Ripperton was more of a romantic version you can here the intimacy in her voice.Minnie was meaning she want her husband inside of her, being as one! Chante Moore version was almost like Minnie's version but her's was more of a duplicate of Minnie's version.Don't get me wrong I like all of them, but Minnie's you can feel the intensity in her voice she was for REAL!
I have Trina's version, and Chante's version. I like them both. But as a child of the '70's, I'm only gonna say this once-they will NEVER compare to the original. PERIOD.
This is good, but Minnie and Chante hit the notes the way that they are suppose to be sung. Trina is powerful and a great singer, however to compare her version with Minnie or Chante is not fair to Trina. In addition just imagine if Minnie had the technological benefits of the modern day women who attempted to reproduce this song. We really would not be having this debate. Cheers.
@bleumedley Absolutely. Heard many attempt this - Chante Moore, etc, and they're good, but Trina absolutely rocked this. No one else has come even remotely close to this version.
Not to disparage the original, timeless and majestic Minnie Ripperton version in any way but if I'm being honest, in some ways this version has improved on the original as far as phrasing, note pitch, power and silky smoothness.
Trina is just a powerful house vocalist. Do you hear how she's KILLING it at the end?! :-)
@morpheusxnyc yes, I did hear how she killed this at the end; and I'm wondering why it didn't blow up like it should have. She sang this with an emotional charge that knocked my cotton socks off.
@morpheusxnyc This is great but I have to give props to Chante' because her cover brought out the essence of Minnie's tune. However, I will not take away from the artistry be comparing any of them!
@ceddagr8 I agree...Chante' Kept it ORIGINAL...Trina added FLARE to it...buh there's nuhtin' is better than the CLASSIC itself...ahahaha! I jus love music itself and these 2 women(Chante' & Trina) to express themselves and paint a whole other picture is what grabs me...and i'm only 23!
@bleumedley This version is nice ,but she failed to hit the high notes like "Chante Moore" so this version isn't on the original status as "Chante's" is. The high notes highlight "Minnie Ripperton,"
@toocalm1 I guess interpretation of this song is up to the listener as to how he or she feels about it. I like Chante and her version, but this version gives me another feel for it that.. I dig..... I like when artist copy the original as is, but its on those rare occasions (such as this) when artist make an original their own and make it sound nice (as you said), it's all good for me.. Minnie would be proud of them both for highlighting her song, artistry and career..
lol how is this version better than the original when Trina doesn't even attempt the hard parts of the song? The hard parts of the chorus are replaced in this version with effects.
This version is better thn Minnie's but for the life of me I re-watched Love Jones and couldn't figure out or find out where this song was sang or played in one of the Sanctuary poerty nites! This Version is the BOMB!! Hats off 2 Ya Trina
This rendition is off the chain!!!
