People you know this is not normal 2 strong earthquake in California in 2010 7.2 than 5.4 i hope us in the bay area won't get hit with the killer one p
I like their attitudes about quakes. In the house I grew up in, in San Francisco, an earthquake felt just like a heavy truck going down the street. The only way we could tell the difference was if the shake lasted more than 3 or 4 seconds, and it the front doorjamb came loose from the wall again. A few hits with the heel of my hand and we were right as rain again. I never tried to run during the quake; just wait until it was over, then maybe walk calmly...or just go back to what I was doing.

right away i always know its an earthquake and the first thought in my mind is run outside the house so nothing could fall on me or the devil will regret it

Run you fuckin idiot. Incase things start to fall but you are just one of those type of people that would get kill. And that girl....im sure she pissed her pants.
I was on an airplane that just took off from LAX at 11:41 AM. I was going to DFW on American Airlines. It's funny, I just barely missed the quake by a minute. We all didn't find out that there was a quake until 3 hours later.
No offense meant by his at all, but I'd rather take a large earthquake every 25 years or so then 2-3 Hurricanes per year (coupled with constant Tropical Weather). I agree with Ana, I didn't even feel this one (course, I was on a train...) I still remember the Northridge Quake scaring me as a kid in Bed (in San Diego!), and went through a 4.8 quake last year; It wasn't a big deal, neither was this.
You make perfect sense. But see, my family and I are from Haiti, an island in the Caribbean. When we first moved to the U.S. in 1984 (I was 3) we moved to California (there was a lot of field work due to a fruit fly outbreak). But my parents were used to Hurricanes, it's a fact of life in the Carib. But for the ground to shake, under the feet of very religious people... it didn't compute too well.
Hmmm? What 1987 Quake in San Francisco would you be referring to? You're lucky you left in 1987 because I was in Santa Cruz at 5:04pm on October 17, 1989 when the 6.9mg Loma Prieta earthquake hit. Let me tell you, if you had experienced that quake you would NEVER forget the EXACT TIME, DATE and EXACTLY where you were when it struck. So, which quake in 1987 caused you to move to Florida?
Dude, was 7 years old so it was in 87 or 88. My birthday is in December so it most likely was in 88, I started 2nd grade in Florida in the fall of 88.
I and my brothers and sisters really didn't feel anything but our parents did, and there was a lot of comotion but for a young kid, you really can't tell.
It's The Opposite For Me. It Gives Better Milk Shake!.............Ooops, Oh You Don't Not Know That Joke. That's Because You're Smoking That Ganja! I Guess The Hurricanes Will Wake You Up Or Does It Arouse You?! Just F___ing With You..... Nine9eniN
I remember that earthquake I was in Santa Cruz and let me tell you it was the strongest earthquake I have ever felt. I will never forget what I was doing when it struck.
I grew up in California and lived most of my adult life there and we use to rate the quakes by the old Disney ride ticket method..never got to feel a E ticket ride but in the 80's SF got one, the after shock in Central Calif, was maybe a B.
"Should I panic"? LOL. I thought the same thoughts during a tornado once. "That's an interesdting view out my window, should I go downstairs"? "Oh! Right"!
The Russian seismologist gave it a 2.6 (artistic expression, nyet), the Canadian gave it a 6.1 and the Hungarians boycotted the event. (Sorry, Olympic fever).
Have you seen the Noam Chomsky video on YouTube where he addresses 9/11 conspiracies? Anyway, I don't recall him saying that but if he did like to see the context in which it was said. One of the worst things to do is run out of a building during an EQ. Get under a sturdy desk or table and hold on to it. Avoid exterior walls.

People died. Freeways collapsed. Parking garages collapsed. Folks walked out of their 3rd story apartment front doors...on the ground floor...
