  • his hat sucks..jis kiddin:)

  • Great song, although i was looking for Hobo's Son

  • I used to work at a music store Kelly Joe would frequent in Portland, OR - around the time Lead Me On came out. One of the absolute nicest guys you could ever want to meet. Plus I've still got the CD of Townes' Van Zandt's Road Songs that Kelly Joe sold!

  • what a sound...!!!! love him

  • C'est à pleurer, de beauté.

  • joe, man, come to bahia to play with me. my name is just luis daltro. i´ve seen one of his concerts when i lived in berkeley, come to brazil, dude, yes, just do it. we here love your f. musik. we have great virtuosis here. muita vida r avida

  • I don't think the pickup matters, it's not that special a sound for an acoustic, he's just playin' it sweet. Most of the problem with live acoustic guitar is that some sound guys don't know how to mix 'em, there's a definite art/skill to it...

  • thanx...we really work hard at making players sound good.....i'm 20 years into it and am still learning

  • 3:45... pure music possession!... thanks for selling your soul KJ!.. ;-).. (though i could have sworn i saw you sporting a halo at 'the central' in victoria... :-)...:-)..:-)... come back?

  • What guitar is KJP using?

  • looks like some sort of a martin dred to me, maybe a d28 or d35??

  • its a 28...I've done a number of his shows (sound guy)...I know this guitbox!

  • Hello BonDonnel,

could you please also tell us which kind of pickup he is using?

    Thank you!

  • not a clue, cozmozoo...sorry. sounds like dunkus42 might be able to help you out though. best

  • It's a Sunrise.

  • It's a sunrise magnetic, I've heard/seen him use a seymour duncan magmic too, he has a very light touch and plays with his fingers, not nails adding to that roundness in tone.

  • This is sooo nice. Does anyone know which tuning he's using here? My first guess is open D with capo on fifth, but I'm not sure bout that. I really love all the alternate tunings he's using for his music.

  • you got it!! it's open D with capo on the 5th.

  • D'une enivrante quiétude!

  • Nice. Nice. Nice.

  • Used to see him every Sunday at Cafe Lena for free. I had to beg my friends to come, "Kelly Joe who??"

Now, it's once every 5 years and its $20.

Well, he still has the same effect as when I first heard him in 1994 at the Break & Ink Cafe on Hawthorne.

  • I've just downloaded "Video DownloadHelper" as an addon for Firefox and I'm grabbing all these videos before some arsehole pulls them again. These videos are great and as far as I'm concerned they are for everybody's enjoyment and should be shared, not witheld so they can be released at the right price, that has no relation to music and the enjoyment of music in my book. And yes, putting this stuff can only help KJP sell more albums.

  • @2882890

Right with you on that ~ they're just dehumanizing everything for all the wrong reasons (as if "they" ever knew anything about "right" reasons!).

  • @Bluegrassgopher Dead on my friend, we've won the moral battle, they, the legal one. I used to be 2882890!

  • @2882890 Damn right! It's thanks to these videos that I discovered KJP. I then went and bought a couple of his albums. KJP is very much under the radar and his music should be spread like butter baby!

  • wow!!..sweet...

  • Been listening to Kelly for a while now that is the CDs that I have. Have not heard this song till now. This song has an organic, earthy feel just like the rest of his music. This guy is the real deal!

  • I know it's been said before but it's cruel that a bloke with this talent should be relatively unrecognised while the world fills up with frauds. What's with that?

  • Yeah I went & saw KJ at McCabe's in Santa Monica: less than 200 (?) people. Later that weekend U2 filled the Rose Bowl. I don't get it.

  • It's my 149th time listening to this ( he he) I think, and I always find a different emotion each time. If you can count on one hand an artist that can do this to you, I'll personally do anything you want me to..... Figure of speech for the ones that can't take a joke.

  • if you like kelly, you should try the john butler trio! you my like them too!

  • paul curreri too

  • love this track, but where are the other video's gone - capman bootman, piece by piece (on the jools holland show), river rat jimmy, tommy there was loads more too. They seem to have been taken off??

  • Oh my god i love him!

  • i love this guy and his music!

  • Thank YOU for posting KJP. Finally on YT.

  • Hey Rupert. What are you guys known as collectively I've been trying to remember. That way I know how to look out for you.

  • His musical thinking, the tructure... Damn.. Love it! And the sound 2, of course

  • I saw a couple of guys in my home town exeter play an amazing set of kjp songs al worked out by ear at the turf locks. this guy is not easy to immitate. Fantastic guitarist. Come back to Exeter!

  • Hello! Rupe here- it was me who played Turf Locks! Get ye down to the firehouse tonight to see more KJP-esque stuff. Best

    Rupe

  • sweeeeeeeeet
