I rode the ride twice and on both occassions I got the podraces and Princess Leia. The differences were the beginning, from Darth Vader to following the Millenium Falcon, and the ending which during my first ride was the Death Star at Geonosis and Coruscant the second time.

Why complain about the pod race? Does everything about TPM have to be bad to you?? What's next? Qui-Gon Jinn? Darth Maul (heaven forbid)? Was there a list in 1999 of expectations that included X-Wings and the Millenium Falcon? We were going back 30 years in the timeline of the universe of George Lucas, not Santa Claus!! This ride shows a combination- scratch that, a multitude of combinations- of aspects from not two trilogies, but one saga!

@MrUSMC4lif Here's how it works: You get an opening (choice of 2), and then depart to a planet (choice of 3). After being on the planet for a while, you receive a transmission (choice of 3). After that, you depart to the last planet (again, choice of 3). Calculating it out leads to the 54 combinations

While there are multiple combinations, you can experience all the openings, planets, and transmissions in just a few rides (just not in the same order)

If there is even a slight change in the ride that IS a variation. Note it the word 'unique' is not in there. If you ride it with one scene in one ride and the next ride get a different scene, thats a variation vs riding TLM where you get the EXACT same scenes everytime. Is it not?

You mean obviously computer graphics with ZERO grounding? The original film, despite its jumpy edits, was filmed at 60 frames per second with hand made sets and models that if complimented with some CGI would look even better. The plan at the outset was to gradually add new delicately designed destinations over the years, but somewhere along the pipeline the idea got jammed. Now we are stuck with a hastily rendered pile of steaming Bantha turds. ILM used the movie renders, cheap.

@Telpeurion Doesnt take away from the fact it was dated as hell! Sorry you dont like the CGI, I had no problems with it and the 3D makes it look that much more realistic. If you want the original, you can watch it here on youtube until your heart content. I and others will gladly be catching the new ride and new experiences! Seriously, I understand you dont like it, so you have a choice not to ride it. One less person in front of me ;).

You misunderstand me, I am not saying WDI should have stuck with the original, but that they ought to have stuck to the same level of detail and presentation as in other projects. Going the complete CGI route has doomed Star Tours to the way of Reboot the Ride. Computer graphics get dated fast.

Now if you are talking about using the new scenes with models vs CGI, sure I cant disagree all that much. But its still a stunning ride. No its a FANTASTIC ride and the beauty of it is they can always update the sequences with more destinations. My friend went on it today and she couldnt stop talking about it! This is what the park needed and happy with the update!
