@0528gman a lot of people keep racoons as pets. if you take them to the vet regularly they're just as clean as a cat or a dog.

Raccoons are crazy. We used to keep a Malamute/German Shepherd mix outside on the deck overnight with a food dish. She's very food aggressive (more than most dogs already are). One night some raccoon marched right on the deck to take her food, with the dog sitting right there. Of course a fight erupted, and after a struggle the raccoon ran off. It's not a small dog, I'm amazed how bold that raccoon was.

racoons are badass for thier size. I saw my friends dog corner a coon one night and the coon killed the dog. The dog was a springer spaniel (4 times the size of a coon) he would bird hunt with so it had a bit of outdoor experience. As soon as the dog got it cornered it latched onto it's neck a riped the dog's throat out. I felt bad for the dog and my friend....but horray for the racoon. It proved it had what it takes to live in the wild.

@miller144stuff A raccoon can practically spin all the way around in it's own skin. If a dog went for the neck, chances are it wouldn't hit anything vital, just a mouth full of loose skin and fur, and that raccoon could still turn around and bite and claw. I would take a raccoon over most dogs any day.

@vampirehockey4LIFE i repeat- i would take a raccon over MOST dogs any day. Some dogs are obviously just way too massive. But raccoons are lethal. People don't give them enough credit. They have razor sharp claws and teeth, are full of disease, and have skin thats super baggy so that they can turn and attack even if something bites down on them. Raccons can hurt, and are absolutely able to kill kids also.

Yup...........I dont know about a coon bringing down two pits but it would lay some pain on both of them and walk away to do it again. I saw a 100lb+ rott get its nose chewed on once...................it just shook it's head as hard as it could............just couldnt shake that coon though. Thats one dog that will never even look at a racoon again.
