I'm amazed just how well Tai sing, some might called it "Lam", Saa-la wan. I have seen and listen to countless Saa-la wan, but I think Tai's is way up there if not the best. It's a testament of her talent.
Thai including Siamese and Lao people are ethnically and linguistically the same. We may come from the same origin Thus, by that assumption we are blood brother, not Vietnamese. To spread Thai from Lao or vice versa is extremely difficult just like to spread our own hair.
@nokky1987, thank you most kindly for your thoughts on this. It does indeed evoke happy memories of Thailand, and its customs and cuisine. I really like this song.
Saa baa dee Kha ,OH my sweet LORD, HOW the Thai woman are so pretty,so

@Vivianangelyn, thank you for the very interesting and lively comment. This is one of my favourite videos by anyone, and it does display the grace and beauty of Thai women. Tai will be visiting the U.S., and Canada in October, and I will see her in Toronto on 23 October. Tonight I will see Tukatan in Khorat, Thailand.
@booboorhymes, I feel the same way as you do. Tai will be touring Canada and the U.S. soon. I will see her on 23 October, the last stop of her tour, in Newmarket, Ontario.
@tonibabydoll1063, thanks Toni. I am sure that Tai must be touring the U.S. too. She would not come all the way from Thailand for one show outside of Toronto. I hope that I can go to see her. I have telephoned the people who are selling the tickets to her concert, but they have not returned my call yet. If possible, I will get a VIP ticket so that I can meet and speak to Tai. What a thrill that will be.
@Vivianangelyn, don't try to stop! Thanks. This is an excellent song and dance. I really like this one. The singer, Tai Oratai, might be coming to Toronto and the United States sometime in September.
udonthani3750 thanks for posting all of these beautiful songs, i am away from my family for school and this is a comfort zone for me when i listen to songs from my roots, thanks, keep posting...
Thnaks so much for your kind comment. You have chosen an excellent song too! You probably know that Tai has a new cd and vcd. I should have it to upload sometime next week. The cd is excellent so I am really looking forward to watching the new video album.

@calistunt9. Hi, thanks for the remarks. You will soon be uploading songs yourself! I posted a comment on your channel with the address you want. The e-mail address will not post in this section. Remember when you are searching that, Sunaree Ratchasima becomes Sunaree Rachaseema, Tai Oratai is Tai Orrathai and Tukatan is Tuktan Chollada, Jintara Poonlarp is Jintara Poonlarb etc.
You make a great observation about Tai. People see her perform the lum with her smiling beauty, and they are won over to her. Tai is a real entertainment ambassador. I like that she will perform the Isaan/Lao songs, and they are accepted by Thai people and others. This is one of my all time favourite songs by anyone. Look at the dancers. Sometimes they look like they are floating on air. Magic!
Thanks again for your comment. Everything about this song seems great: the singing, the dancing, the traditional clothes. Tai Oratai is one of the best performers in the world today.
Je suis en accord cent pour cent avec vous Konglao. Ce que vous avez dit est très correct. Chaque fois; j'écoute cette chanson; j'ai l'impression qu'elle est la première fois.
This song is really superb. I never get tire listening to it. There is an other version where Tai and dancers perform on the Mekong bank. They are both excellent. Love it.
yes, I can also watch this video all day and night. She is a special singer indeed.
what is your amazing about Mor Lum or Lums is that there are a variety of Lum classifications. Each region in Laos has its own Lum running from northernmost to southernmost parts of the country. They are lum tangvay, mahaxai, Konsavanh, Barxork, Phutai, KhrupNguen, Xink, Phuan, Sepandone, Kruptum langphrabanh, Salavanh, Xieng Khaung and lueng. Is it amazing, isn't it?
Thanks. This is amazing, and I wonder why it developed this way. Could it be that in ancient times communication was so poor that each one of these regions, with their unique culture, was able to preserve it through lack on contact with other areas. There must have been some sharing of ideas and cultural give-and-take; nevertheless, it is unique that each area has kept their tradition up until the present day. It is great! Lao culture is great!!!
yes, I think it could be in the ancient times when communication was so poor. Each region has developed its own unique culture. Thanks and happy holiday.
Thanks. The most important point is that they have retained their unique culture. I am glad about that. Yes, you have a great holiday season too and Happy New Year!
yes, this Lum Saravanh is really super.
I also like it when she sings in Lao. I wonder what her next cd will be like. I hope she continues on the path that she has taken here. Thanks. Merci beaucoup na khap. Sohk dee der
I would love to see her next CD, which ought to be the greatest collection of all Lao/Issan Morlums commencing from northernmost to southernmost parts of Lao and other Issan. Their outfit should be particularly pertinent to each regional and cultural emphasis. Lao et Issan ont très magnifique culture musicale. Merci beaucoup Na Khap!
Thanks for your interesting comment. It is great that Tai can perform this music, and help to make it popular across Thailand. I do not know too much about the various Lao lum, but I am learning.
Thanks for your nice comments. I know how you feel. This was song number 10 on her last vcd before the current one, but it became a big hit, and it is easy to see why.
it is tai she very good dance so her song,I love her so much everything about her and make me think about my country too my mom my dad and also my friend, thanks for sharing this song I love so much
I am glad this song can bring memories back for you. It is never easy living away from your parents and your home in Laos. Tai is very good at reminding people of their past.
Sad to hear about the talk about Thai and Lao. Well, both came from the same origin and are called ethnic Tai. I we can forget about politics we will enjoy life much more. I am from Laos. I marry a Vietnamese born in Thailad. I used to live and worked in Thailand. I speak, read, write both Thai and Lao well. I love both peoples very much.
I am so delightful about a lot of Tai fans that feel having a complete sense of freedom to express their views. I was used to live in both banks of Mekong river which mean of having many relatives on both sides of Mekong River. In the last two or three decades, when you were listening to Mor lum or spoke a Lao-Issan language as your preferred choice, you felt being grouped as a low socioeconomic strata and destitute rural people. Now Mor lum has become more popular in much broader society.
Yes, isn't this wonderful? I even see wealthy Sino-Thais in Toronto dancing morlam on festive occasions. This would not have happened a few decades ago.
I am glad that Lao-Isaan culture is gaining more acceptance for the tradition is rich, colouruful and so interesting.
Yes, you are right absolutely. A Lao-Issan culture is gaining more acceptance due to the Lao-Issan people 's demonstrated persistent determination and tenacity.
Furthermore, people realise that traditional Lao-Isaan culture is fun, interesting and great to experience as a participant.
This is why a singer like Tai Oratai is so important as she can act as a bridge bringing the great Isaan-Lao culture to everyone.
Like you note, the Lao-Isaan people themselves have to be congratulated for their persistance and determination in overcoming the odds to get their culture fully accepted.
Yes, it has taken so many decades before the Lao-Issan Mor Lum has become fully accepted by a broader society. I still have a vivid memory when I was a young man with having resided on both banks of the Mekong River. I loved to listen to Mor Lum in Nakhon Phanom and Savannaket Provinces. Sometime, my peers passed by my home and heard what I was listening to. They somehow ridiculed me as "Kon Ban Nok", which literally means a rural guy. I just can not personally believe it. Long-lived Lao-Issan
Tai likes to sing lots of Lao traditional songs. Sarawan is a nice province of Southen Laos with distinctive cultural songs and dances. Love this song very much.
yes right now isaan very nice not pour like before before they don,t have cell phone or telephone but now they do have everything, you go back to your country you not go remember everywhere so difrenrant ,for me I have no probllems I talk thai I talk lao and I know how to right thai and lao,
Good for you! I am glad you can write and speak both Thai and Lao. Not many people can write Lao in Thailand.
I can speak Thai a little bit, and speak some words in Lao. I can write Thai fairly well, but I cannot write Lao at all. I can read Thai, but sometimes I make mistakes. 55555
Everywhere in the world is better than before. Isaan used to be very, very poor. I agree it is better for the people now. Isaan people are intelligent and very nice. You too ToniDoll!
I very like this song ,tai she wonderfull, she dance she sing she got all that, and thanks, for me I have no problems with lao and thai .because I am 50/50 lao thai, I have no comment about that, lao thai both my family, spacailly isaan they have agood heart, you going to isaan you go the see a diffrerant,I l love isaan ,very nice people,by the way I love so much sarawan, thank you for you upload this song for me you very sweet,
Yes, I like this song very much too. It is one of my favourites.
I know in the past some Bangkok people look down on Lao and Thai people. For the most part, I think Isaan people are happy to be able to live and work with both Lao and Thai people. It is better to be friends. Like you say, Lao and Thai are your family. This is good.
I love Isaan too, and always like to visit there.
i hope one day Esan will rise up and join Lao or become they own nation..and here another fact the thai ppls stole the phra keo from LAO THAT WHY THAI HAVING ALL THIS PROBLEM...RIOT AND STUFF...
The Phra Kaeo was originally at Wat Phra Sing in Chiang Mai. When the Lao king was invited to rule Lanna (the northern Thai kingdom), he took the Buddha image back to Luang Phrabang with him. The northern Thais were not happy about that.
I do not think that you will ever see Isaan become part of Laos or an independent nation. Geopolitics dictates vs. this. However, there might be a chance for more Lao-Isaan contact if AESEAN becomes more like the European Union. Lao problem: landlocked.
Thai peoples harass Esan ppls calling them Buk Lao E lao..let me ask you simple Question why are Esan part of thai so poor compare to other part of thai because the damn thai goverment does not care about Esan ppls
Maybe things will get better in Isaan if Taksin comes back and he seemed to take an interest in improving the life of the people there. Isaan has always been seen as a backwater by the govt. but Isaan is vital to Thailand. The people are intelligent, skilled, adaptable and able to do so many things other than be taxi-drivers, servants, lottery sellers and bar girls.
Yes let me guess you are Isan right? If you go back and look at the old map before the French rule most of Esan were part of Laos kingdom .Yes that dont surprise that most of them does not know how to write Lao just like me i almost forget how to write Lao too i am in USA because they are under Thai rule now when the childrens go to school they teach thai and learn thai of course they will forget LAO WRITTING but atleast they still speak
No, I am Canadian but a historian who teaches the history of Southeast Asia. In particular, I am interested in the history of Thailand, Burma, Laos and Cambodia. When I went to the National Museum in Viang Chan, I was disappointed that it was all about Kaysone and had nothing to say about Suvanna Phouma. It is natural for the Thai govt. to want its people to read & write Thai, but the Lao community must try to keep their language alive, like the northern Thais at Chiang Mai.
Yes, that is true. Most of the people living in Isaan were brought there in the 18th and 19th centuries by the Siamese. Up until the 1950s, the Thai government reported the people in Isaan as Lao. Isaan people speak Lao, there culture is Lao, the food they eat is Lao, the only difference is that most of them no longer can write Lao. I have noticed, lately, that many of the people in Isaan say they are Isaan Thai and not Lao. But, I agree with you. Well, politically, they are Thai.
she's good. If she's laos or thai/. she look so lao. see no country perdormed salawah better than lao. hey i am khmer but wish one day laos will be peace as well as my country.
Thanks for the comment. I really love this video. The singing, the dress, the dancing. It is almost as if Tai and the dancers are floating in the air at times.
I can imagine that you must miss Laos a lot.
I have been to Viang Chan to see the Wat Mahathat Chedi Luang. I was impressed.
I did not like the museum devoted to Kaysone as much since there was no mention of Souvanna Phouma and Soupvonavong.
Soooo sweet, lov

I can speak Thai a little bit, and speak some words in Lao. I can write Thai fairly well, but I cannot write Lao at all. I can read Thai, but sometimes I make mistakes. 55555
Everywhere in the world is better than before. Isaan used to be very, very poor. I agree it is better for the people now. Isaan people are intelligent and very nice. You too ToniDoll!

Thank you for your insightful comments.

i hope one day Esan will rise up and join Lao or become they own nation..and here another fact the thai ppls stole the phra keo from LAO THAT WHY THAI HAVING ALL THIS PROBLEM...RIOT AND STUFF...

It is natural for the Thai govt. to want its people to read & write Thai, but the Lao community must try to keep their language alive, like the northern Thais at Chiang Mai.

udonthani esan is lao dont 4get that is not thai there all laos my peoples

I believe she is from the Ubon area. Many Lao were brought there from the Viang Chan area by the Thais over a hundred years ago.
I would like to see salawah performed in Laos.
You should be proud of your country, Cambodia, because the Khmers built a very brilliant civilization.
The Pol Pot era was a real disaster for the country and the people.
Everyone should want Laos and Cambodia to progress in the future. There is lots of new development going on; the potential for better times is there

I hope to go to Luang Phrabang this summer.
