  • The only thing I have to say other than cool is that you shouldn't puff your cheeks while playing.

  • His tone is great for the most part but the sopranino has that tone or at least most of them do. Vintage ones I have heard are better. I play Bari and Alto and the Sopranino is also in Eb so that would be fun to play and super easy to take along!

  • is that different from the soprillo?

  • @BoxCreations Soprillo is higher pitched than sopranino. Soprillo is in Bb, an octave above soprano, and sopranino is in Eb, an octave above alto. I hope my explanation made some sense. :)

  • @BoxCreations

    Yes.

Sopranino is in Eb and soprillo is Bb

  • you have bad technique, in that you always pick your fingers far higher off the keys then they should be. other then that, looking good

  • thats cool.

  • IS Selmer S80 "F" Hard Rubber Mouthpiece good enough for alto sax?

  • wow. sweet sound. sounds like a cornet almost..

  • That sounds so cool!

  • Ryan has a superb tone,;listen closely to the last 20 seconds when he is playing slower. I listen to him on a regular basis, Leebm29

  • Awesome!!!!

  • i've heard evry saxaphone but not that one

  • what's the mini alto sax called?

  • this is the sopranino, the smallest is the soprillo.

  • @nerdz4life8 it is called a sopranino sax, it is in the title...

  • dont listen to changychangu....you can play any way or style you want as long as your comfortable with it and your good...and ur good...so keep playing

  • Omg, I want one now.

  • Someone HAS to make one burved like the curved sopranos!

  • There is... Orsi.

  • how much do they cost?

  • I believe they cost anywhere from 4 to 6 thousand dollars

  • yea and in pounds you are getting them for around 2000

  • lol kewl i didnt kno they existed

  • DANG! That's some good music! Just keep your cheeks in and you'll be a MAGNIFICENT player, pal.

  • Oeff..

    I'm impressed!

    Fantastic!

  • No, it's a sopranino one

  • I have to say you did well has a very New orleans old school jazz feel

  • if youre circle breathing you have to puff a little and not its a Sopranino the Eb class and octave higher than the Soprano

  • That's a soprano.......and DON'T PUFF YOUR CHEEKS!!!!

  • That is not a soprano sax at all.

Sopranos don't sound like that and they are longer and lower than this model.

  • That's because this is a sopraNIno sax

  • No it isn't you gay!

  • DONT puff your cheeks

  • SOPRANO SAXOPHONE ¬¬

  • you should try not to puff your cheeks you'll get hole lot better sound and tone out of the

    Sopranino

  • I'm impressed!! Those are difficult to play and even harder to make sound good, great job mate!

  • that was awesome, i always wanted to learn the sax... now i feel its too late :/

  • Na dont give up, sax is fine and easy to play from start, just begin with simple songs, soft reed, you could dig it quick, give it a try!

  • But u can find an instument u dont like if u try sax. i played sax fer a year but i like tuba, my current instrument, better.

  • not better. unless you like the sound of a whale farting.

  • I like that little run at the end, sounds like the one from Raymond Scott's Powerhouse

  • haha, sweet!!! you're awesome bro

  • dang... Thats good playing...

  • This is really nice. I like the tone.

  • the buddybud, you obviously have never seen a sopranino saxophone, because there isnt THAT much of a difference between the soprano and sopranino.

  • u got a point but if u look there is a slight difference in tone and size so yeah ur right

  • More than a slight difference. The same than between an alto and a tenor. Soprano in Bb, sopranino in Eb higher, an octace higher a tenor. I tried both soprano and sopranino, I know what I am talking about...

  • I meant an octave above alto...

  • saprano is an octave higher than the Tenor and the sapranino is an octave higher than the alto.

    this guy is good.

    i love its tone.

  • You are kind.. but the guy is just ok not much good... Kwacky sound, no tenderness, just a flow of notes witout much feeling. Well that is my opinion!

  • Oh finally I kind a like it but it is the sound of the recording, I had to listen it again with more volume, the guy is really good, to bad we dont hear much...

  • i agree, he obviously doesn't care about tone. playing a lot of notes seems to be his thing

  • welcome to jazz.

And contrary to what you seem to think, his tone is not bad. listen at 1:02 and tell me that sounds bad.

  • yeah sopranino Eb the ocave higher than the alto..

  • thats a Soprano sax, not a sopranino

    Sopranino's are extremely small

  • You've obviously never played a soprano, it has nowhere near that tone, and can't get that high.

  • That's really nice.

But if you think that takes a good Embochure to play (which it takes a moderatly decent one)

Try playing the bassoon (in tune), takes tons of practice and lip muscles haha.

  • Nice !

  • man u most have to have a really good embouchure to play something like that

    good job man your awesome

  • man u most have to have a really good embouchure to play something like that

    good job man your awesome

  • Wow.... it is hard to make a sopranino sound good but you have managed to so congrats

  • that sounds amazing for such a lack of embrasure <-(im pretty sure i spelt that wrong)

  • yeah is embochure, an easy mistake to make.

  • Isn't it emb-ou-chure?oops, really an easy mistake to make:)

  • you play it like a clarinet !!! Really nice :)

    Sounds like Benny Goodman heheh

    bye

  • It doesn't matter if you puff your cheeks or not, as long as you produce a unique sound, and he OBVIOUSLY has the technical ability to play a great tune! I think he is a terrific sax player!

  • I can't believe you're all debating about his embouchure and puffing his cheeks (ever see Stan Getz play?) - he didn't ask for your opinions. I think he plays nicely...

  • you probaly shouldnt puff your cheeks out , but i play an alto so i dont know ...sound like elevator music sorta...

  • You should never puff the cheeks.

  • True because if u puff ur cheeks, they will get strain. Thus you won't be able to play for a long time.

  • Tell it to Dizzy...:)

  • He is not puffing his cheeks! He has a perfect embouchure, and like all expirienced players his cheeks are streched by practising.

    Good job done.

  • Well actually he IS puffing his cheeks. At the beginning of the video when he starts playing his cheeks clearly go outward, not downward as streching would imply. Also, when he stops to get air you can see his cheeks fall ball to their normal place then puff outwards again when he resumes.

  • is that a sopranino or a soprano?

  • sopranino, the soprano may be high pitched, but the sopranino is about half as long (the strait ones anyway) and you can tell the difference...

  • cool, it's really sweet though and you're a really good player :D

  • very very nice job ceep it up! : )

  • extremely impressive

  • Impressive! Been playing for 17 years now, and 6 professionally and have never played the sopranino. Great quality and control....Keep it up cat.

  • haha it sounds like what the weather channel would play

  • thats off the shiz!

  • Very good tone and control of the sopranino...nuts, actually.

  • great playing by the way i loved it i play soprano lol you hhave a dixie music sound its what you were probably aiming for though if not i love it

  • you can tell its sopranino also by the sound of it. its higher and has a unique sound as all saxes and other instruments do

  • Now thats professionalis, wish we could trade 4's some time. good tone and technique as well.

  • Kwl playing! I want to get a sopranino soon!

  • Its not sopranino its a soprano saxophone

  • no, thats a sopranino. Same shape and everything, but I actually play soprano sax, and thats definately smaller and way higher pitched.

  • people that think thats a soprano sax, or clarinet are obviously lack thereof when it comes 2 knowin n.e thing bout musical instruments.

  • Lack thereof

I don't think you used that right.

  • it has a different sound trust me i have a soprano sax and not the same sound hard to describe unless you listen to both a lot or just own one of the two lol

  • looks like a clarinet

  • that's the tiniest soprano saxophone i've ever seen.......and the nicest sounding. cool

  • its a sopranino. its a 4th higher than a soprano

  • if its smaller does'nt that give you a clue that something has changed you can tell you dont have an interest in music wow sincerely, an ass.........

  • HI very cool this sopranino sound. Could U please tell me which taiwanese brand it is?

    Thnks.

    regards

    Lino

  • I LIKE THE LAST TUNE

  • Hi Charlie, funny i found you her:P HEim

  • ..all we need is a cobra and a basket and we're set! lol, nice playin man

  • DIFFICULT

  • Love the riff at 0:11. Great job ! Heck if you can play a Yanagisawa you can play a Yani stencil =) If I ever see a nino for under $1000 I'd buy it.

  • Is that a MASON PRO sopranino similar to the one on Ebay ?

  • hmmm well i was just wonderin if there is more than one kinda of saprino b.c there was another guy playing what he was calling a sapranino, but it just looke like a really small alto it wasn't straight??

  • Sopranos, sopraninos, and soprillos (listed from biggest to smallest) are all of the highest pitched saxophones. Sopranos and sopraninos can sometimes be curved but are rare. There are many engineering difficulties in making tiny straight saxophones curved. They sound pretty much the same and so is the pitch.

  • oh ok thnx

  • Looks like you need to work on your upper register. :-P

  • Fabulous intonation, by Ryan.. I see that licorice-stick on Ebay

    sells sopranino saxophones on Ebay

  • It's really good!!! I play alto...

  • it's ok... but i much prefer the tone of a soprano.

    and it IS a sopranino.

  • if you look up falso baiano and watch di menor the guy on the right play soprano sax

(Zack Pitt-Smith(my band teacher)) you'll notice this sax that Ryan Burrage is playing is a sopranino sax

  • its too short to be a soprano....plus in the lower registers...it sounds nothing like a soprano

  • sounds quite good fun. I fancy one...

  • my advice to all in search of sopranino, DON'T DO IT!

I bought one, went to the factory, and it sounded great. got it home, and it was never used for anything more than a life. safe your money, or buy a soprano instead, least somebody will pay to hear you play that thing.

  • That is a fabulous rendition, 5 stars! To the person that is looking for a sopranino I have an excellent one for $795, intonation 'spot on' Check me out on Ebay licorice-stick

  • Great playing! I want a nino too =|

  • nice

  • thats a soprano - not a sopranino

  • its a sopranino dude...get ur ear in the right pitch

  • What do you mean? This is a treacherous little horn to play in in tune (and it IS a sopranino) and he does a fine job. From this short vid this guy sure sounds like he knows what he's doing.

  • I agree with you.. it is a suprano.. he's just not playing in the lower notes...

  • retard.

  • how much did that thing cost? cuz my soprano cost almost 3k.

  • brilliant. first time iv heard a sopranino.

  • Is your dad Ronnie Burrage?

  • as far as i know i am in no relation to him. However, it is a rare irish name so who knows.

  • you sound like cannonball adderly

  • you sound like adderly

i mean that as a compliment not a restriction

    =)

very expressive song/solo i like it

  • You've got talent signor :D

Do you play clarinet as well?

  • wats the difference betweem and soprano and a sopranino...anyways advance music..good stuff!

  • The Bb Soprano Saxophone is an octive above the B flat Tenor Saxophone and the Eb Sopranino Saxophone is an octave above the Eb Alto Saxophone the Sopranino is smaller and plays higher pitches than the soprano sax
