  • Carbon, thats typical

  • hes lucky to get out of that one!

  • Lol I thought that guy at the beginning was sliding backwards really fast on his feet.

  • @travers114 Me too, thumbs up for you :D

  • Best crashes are where they 'fly-off' and disappear into ditches, they are hilarious!!!!and dont forget to put a roadsign, on a roadsign to warn you its there!! fantastic 10 outta 10 to all riders concerned, well done!

  • i rember that crash, since that. ive been talkingall about it and never forgot it. its so weird though, the bike splitting in two?????but ive seen some worst crashes on the Giro de ialtia last year (watch it on universal sports in june)

  • That road sign should have been better marked with a tall flag or something similar. You wouldn't see it until you were right on top of it due to other riders obscuring the view.

I partly agree with downfader2 when he writes that "these are essentially one season only use bikes." True if you have the tremendous power of elite pro riders, but even strong recreational riders are comparatively "weak" and put much less stress on the frame. For us, a carbon frame should last several seasons.

  • i would say in this case it was better that the bike took the full impact and broke... a good thing about carbon is its ability to absorb the force upon impact and break so the ride does not substain serious injury

  • this is why my bike is made out of cromo!

  • Hard Crash!!

  • I feel bad for the Specialized bike!!! :D

  • i watched this in live on television :D

    carbon bikes are weak!

  • Comment removed

  • every bike is weak in this situation...

  • Depends on the carbon used, these are essentially one season only use bikes. Made to be very lightweight and the downside is the brittle nature.

I have carbon forks that took on a car that pulled out on me - it only made a slight crack and a scuff. Different resin you see.

  • Bike broke into two...

The force of the collision must have been very large!

  • when there going like 40 mph it is ha.

  • AUCH ¡

  • ya that was a roubaix from specialized

  • Was that a Specialized frame?

  • yes ..just spend 2 bucks on some Brigth Orange cone and put it in front of the little sign... I counted about 20 roundabouts so that is not that much of a work for a race like this.

  • Hey do you have this moment at stage 15, it was on 16 km before finish in mountain when some cyclist fell down ???

  • augustany right?

  • best crash ever. so lucky to escape

  • Bock auf Backstage-Bilder? Checkt den tourblog-gerolsteiner de mit exklusiven Filmen und Informationen zur Tour de France und zu dem Sturz.

  • lol not sure what that means but sure!

  • ..something about exclusive backstage filming. I think?

  • It appears to be advertising by the Gerolsteiner team for their "tour blog".

  • this is a fold by the directors of the tour.

There should have been a warning, there was a pole in the middle of the track.

  • i defently agree. Now a $10,000 bike is toasted!

  • poor
