Interesting tidbit: The boss of the America stage is supposed to be Willy's (from Double Dragon 1) younger brother out for revenge. In fact, the guys you fight are the Neo-Shadow Warriors.
@Gridseeker true. one of the big flaws was that the game was notorious for suckering people out of their money with the shop system instead of adopting a monetary system similar to River City Ransom. But the arcade game paled in comparison with the shoddy port to the Game Boy which had cheap AI and poor hit detection.
@figment1988 The third game is PALED in contrast with its two predecessors! As far I understand, Technos, instead of develop the game by itself, employed a third company to develop it and here`s the result, an insult for the series! At least they realized how much they screwed, they learned from the mistake and decided to do the port for the NES by themselves; yeah, DD III for the NES has it flaws but its WAY BETTER than the crappy version of arcade.
@Gridseeker true, East Corporation developed this game, and they're sometimes infamous for being an underground company which worked on some titles including another franchise insult which was Taito's Operation Wolf 3 (which is fully loaded with engrish and terrorists with bad tendencies to wear ridiculously bright colors).

Why don't they just make a coin-op jukebox with the game's songs? It would earn its fair share of quarters, probably more so that the game.
