@GavinoPro I would rather watch these guys performing an exhibition, than watch a bunck "tambays" in the Philippines having an actual fight, yet they have no clue how to properly throw a punch or a kick.
AND IN HISTORY LAPU-LAPU( THE FILIPINO GUY) DEFEATED MAGELLAN (THE VOYAGER WHO TRAVELED AROUND THE GLOBE TO CONQUER) USING HIS MAGIC STICK NOT A KRIS...LOL
This is pathetic. The fuck was that. Thats all they can ever do is ACT. There was never a fight. All the people cheering for what ? Sick individuals. New York is a Concrete Jungle, and Ill be the first to tell you that this shit dont fly here.
@zulfikarl becuase dude..only arnis is originated from us and arnis is juz a piece of wood that you can use for a weapon..yeah! knife fighting taught in the US armed forces, russian and french armed forces..but we can do better! ;-)
I remember the old days , we were taught Kali in elementary . Using sticks and steps. It was so fun, I wish they put that again in Curicullum. Its our heritage.
@AlphaXQ thats not eskrima that is what we call ARNIS and that originates in our beutiful country the Philippines.... Why are we showing our deadly techniques to the Americans?? no one can defeat it...
wait im confused are filipnos born and know how to fight? because a lot of them can fight without learning I'm filipino and i can fight i can throw punches and kicks but i never took any karate or kung fu
its in our blood. tell u the truth then i was a kid back in Pinas, i used to get into fights almost everyday. school or the streets. im what you would call a "basagulero" :D
pero now i changed. cant pick fights anymore. the AF doesnt condone it :(
I am sorry but I believe that statement to be inaccurate. All the names mean the same thing. They may be called differently in different areas of the Phillipines or the world but the different names don't reflect a distinct style.
The differences in style come about because the systems were handed down as family arts with each family putting its own spin on the art. This coupled with the fact that there was a high degree of remoteness because there are so many islands in the Phillipines.
Escrima came from the spanish word esgrima meaning fencing. Arnis means stick or baston. Kali's origin is a little muddy but some beleive it to come from the word Kalis which is a Kali sword.
Although they may look similar in many ways they have differences in their approach, lineage, and teaching. As I stated before this is thought to be because of the difference in region, north, central, south.
Arnis actually means harness. Arnis de mano = harness of the hands, and refers to the decorative cord worn on the sleeves of the native Pilipinos durning the Spanish occupation.
Please don't call that person stupid. Barong (sometimes spelt borung) is also the name of a leaf-shaped bolo that was used in the Southern Phillipines by muslim tribes and later by the Tagalogs and Mangyan tribes in the east.
There are many more swords that were used than just the barong. And each area had used a different sword more or less.
Thaoutlaws might have been referring to the Kampilan, which is a very long sword. There are some other swords that resemble a scimitar somewhat such as the Sansibar, which also came was about 2 feet in length.
no the point of this is not to show how cruel philipinos are but rather a part of their cultrue or which they have their own very well recognized well crafted art of martial art knife fighting.
Jparnaldo, you are sissy and an incredible idiot! Wta kind of comment is that "to show how cruel filipinos are", Is that only what you think about us? You ignorant backward mountain guy mentality! Who just tasted a little of the U.S. Are you saying Japs and Chinese are cruel too when they show their Martial Arts culture? Every country in Asia has their own "Martial Arts Culture" this is one of Philippine's Martial arts, and Philippines is in asia
this is dumb, wtf? akala ko naman kung totoong laban, woooo sinayang lng oras ko peste

The Phillippines has three distinct styles of stick/knife/sword arts.
It all depends on what part of the Phillipines they're from.
Northern Phillipines it's Arnis.
Central Phillipines it's Eskrima.
Southern Phillipines it's Kali.
