@MsKristineBroski not really... they do die very young though. I free ranged 8 cornish and they all did fine for about a year then it was just like 1 after another started dropping like they expired or a disease wiped em out, couldn't have been disease because i had them with 40 buff orpingtons and not one of them died. We shouldn't play god with our food....
@MsKristineBroski - no real farmers chickens are raised that way. factory farm chickens often can't walk when they have hardly eaten at all, due to sick conditions, and genes getting weaker the longer factory farming produces hatch-eggs as it does.
no need to kill males...in the saner past they had these creatures called roosters. it was great cause it meant the chickens would just reproduce all on their own naturally.
we are interested to set up modern hatchery farms we want to know what is the cost of the equipments and how much area is required pls kindly mail to azadrahman84@yahoo.in
@rahmanazad361 - just have a field & put a fence(chickenwire etc)up around it & make sure it's dug down deepish to avoid foxy's eating your chickies. & have a natural coop. &rare breeds
@rahmanazad361 - or get 'usual' chickens, layers with the F1-type-of-eggs, but then you need to keep buying them every year or season. not good how they are produced but not their fault
Thats the cutes thing I have every seen.

@DarkBurster I guess you might talk about weeks. Broilers unfortunately live a very short life of 6 - 7 weeks.

@DarkBurster haha. If even, the chickens we eat grow within a few months, if we don't eat them their legs break because they get so fat.
