Whoever said the Tsar Bomba nuke is a fire cracker today is wrong. The Tsar Bomba was a 50 megaton nuke, the most powerful ever dropped. Most nukes these days aren't even 5 megatons. Oh and Russia has more nukes then the U.S but when the START treaty starts both countries are meant to have the same. And yes the soviet union put nukes in Cuba but U.S put nukes in Europe.

The russians are not about beauty or style, they use cold, hard logic and strap every possible weapon and armor system onto their vehicles. For them its all about overwhelming brute force and swift action over technological superiority and accuracy. given that this is an alternative timeline, russia, EU and usa all have varying degree's of power. In real life the usa would probably still hold considerable sway for the next 20 years or so. A game set mid century would be really interesting given that china will be the number one economic power. Factoring in the great recession and russia weak economy (minus endwar events), would also be neat. If MAD was off the table then I think russia would be in trouble. china 2nd biggest military budget.

Russia is currently, by statistics, the 2nd strongest military in the world. United States currently the strongest. Due to the economic abilities of the United States, it continues to stay on top. The economy of Russia is bad, however getting better over time. I believe in video games it is amazing to pit them against eachother. In real life however, I believe these two nations should become allies. I believe that this would be an amazingly powerful alliance.

I could be wrong, but I heard it was America that had #1 Air force and Navy, while Russia had number 1 ground force. The statistics I've read showed Russia having many more ground units, but less air forces. However, MOST of the statistics I viewed were online so not very reliable sources. The offline sources were a bit outdated. Still, I was sure that America still prided itself on it's air technology over any other part of the military. The "Eagle" of America, if you will.

The reason Russia always ends up being Americans number 1 enemy in most video games is simple really. See, I speak some Russian, I love your language, your country is beautiful, and your people are people of all kinds. The reason is because America has not been able to find an enemy as powerful as the Soviet Union was. Due to this fact, it's more difficult for the average American to imagine another country as a worthy opponent. Russia has always, and still is,one of the most powerful countries.

We hit civllian targets because think of how many atomic bombs we'd have to drop to kill the estimated 200,000 civillians (most likely thousands more) to get the message through their head that we weren't playing around.

There was already sustained incendiary attacks against Japanese cities. Warning of more bombing wasn't going to help. They knew what they were up against. Their internal codes didn't permit surrender. It just wasn't an option, until all their hope was crushed.

It was a ploy to get them to surrender to us, rather than russia. Cold war might have been different if we didn't have Japan's ports and airstrips to base our stuff out of.
