The post WW II breakup of Germany consisted of temporary zones of US, British, and Russian. under the Potsdam Agreement. Berlin was in the Russian zone but was divided into zones as well. The Russians wanted it all but the defiant West protected West Berlin and the Soviets essentially walled it in with strict passage by autobahn or rail.

The Berlin Wall divided communist East Berlin from free West Berlin.. It was quite an even when it was torn down as it represented the beginning of the end of the communist bloc.

I agree with you in your explanation, but the video above shows it different...the video shows that West Berlin was inside the wall, it only got me more confused...i always thought that East Berlin was the one surrounded by the wall....

Well, why its confusing is that Berlin was inside East Germany. West Germany was pretty far away, yet West Berlin was part of West Germany. West Berlin was an 'island' surrounded by East Germany so thats why it was the one surrounded by a wall.
