Is it normal for the whole lathe to move during the cut it seems excessive. I under stand its not in a direction to affect runout but it still does not seem to be centered.
Gosh, how on earth did I survive just by wopping the 'warped' discs (they don't warp, it's uneven pad material transfer) onto a lathe and skimming them? Been doing that for the last 30 years, I'll be doing it for the next 30. Just buy new discs when you've reached minimum thickness.
@Khazar01 Hi, No, because the idea of a ProCut is to match the rotors to the run out of the Hub and/or the geometry of the car, this is the reason most OE manufacturers do it on the production line. Apparently there are 15000 of these lathes in use, just in the USA.
@EBCBrakesUK Thanks for your quick answer, but since I'm not from the US and as far as I know, nobody here uses ProCut (or similar) i have to look for an alternate solution, or buy new brake discs.
Everyone worries so much about "runout" If you look at the specs for thickness variation, you will see the specs for Thickness variation are MUCH smaller and more apt to cause brake pulsation. With a floating caliper, a small amount of lateral runout would not be noticed.
your 1st runout reading was high because you didn't tighten the rotor to the hub. not sain its a bad idea to turn the rotor when changing pads. have a good one
hello, i think i now have a bent wheel hub, since changing the wheel bearing. Could be the hub not fitted right to the bearing, making the brake disk wobble. How can I correct it by myself?? I am in albania no such pro-cut here. could it be done by hammering the side
i fitted new oem discs all round and yellowstuff pads on my e46 m3 a few days ago and the fronts are squealing like fk and seriously getting on my nerves now, can you give me any advice on that please
I wonder if you have a bad wheel bearing would it give a bad cut

Question: Can this type of runout be fixed by removing the disc and putting it on a normal lathe ?

Very informative. Thanks for the video.

I always buys new disc, remachining the disc makes it thinner, therefore you will end up buying new disc which is almost twice the cost

why don't you just buy a new set?
ArT2Oo0 2 years ago
Because if you have hub run out, your new set will be about as much use as tits on a bull.
