@unopeneddoor yeah i know he was happy because he was finally dying and he even said that he has so much to look forward to. So yeah he was happy at the end cause he was getting rid of the pain for once since no one understood him when he was alive.
This song used to make me cry every time I listened to it (It touched the depths of my Soul). Then, back in Feb., I had a profound experience. It was the No-Self experience. After the experience, everything changed. My life will never be the same. Even the song has no emotional effect any longer (although I still like it). If you’re interested in having this experience, go to:
One of the most moving scenes I've ever seen in a movie is where Donnie's mom, Mary McDonnell cannot understand her him but offers her unbounded empathy (at 2:58, in this video), and strokes his face. Stunning.
My friend had a heart attack today... All the way through the sadness and depression, all I could hear and think of was this song... I'm 15, and so was he...
Philosophy of the Human Activites that Cascade through a form thought. to "think", an ability given to the human mind along with sense. to colaborate into the world we destroy. only through pain can u know what hurts the most. The earth knows this pain. i know this pain physically , mentaly and spiritualy. eveything has a purpose......we just has to find it "we came from Dust"
No matter how many times i listen to this song i end up crying, which i rarely do..i'm not emotional like most people but when i listen to this i think about all the things that happened to me that i should've cried for but didn't and end up with my heart in my throat....this song is amazing and beautiful
@dorris15895578 I hate to disagree but I think most of the actors in this movie were famous by the time they were in this movie. Maybe you might be thinking that Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal, Jeno Malone were newcomers. Almost all of everyone else were already famous.
it's so strange that this film takes place i the 80's. You would think it's present day. I wonder why the filmmakers chose that time period if they weren't going to make it significantly different from modern times ( back in 2002 for the film) Anyway, I've never been able to say I have a favorite song I've always been the multi-favorite song type of person but I really think I might have found it. who knows how many times ive listened to this song.....
@cartergirl3of3 I think it has something to do with the fact that you see a time from a fuller prospective if you are past that time we can study and understand the world when we arnt currently living it. I am more apt to watch a movie that is supposed to be based further back in time even from the production date like if a movie was made in 2001 about the 30s id be more prone to watch it
@dorris15895578 Well, me too. I have Changeling, Girl, Interrupted and The Story of Joan of Arc among my DVD selection. 1930, 1960, 15??....u get my point

furthermore i dont know if u realize but gretchen said donnie darko was a superhero name its kinda of ironic because donnie required alot of strength to driv the axe into the bronze statue and when he finds jims house the sprinklers turn on meaning that because donnie was in the positon he was in in this movie it gave him superpowers every characters role was to push him towards returning the artifact
fwi donnie was crazy he was schizophranic thats what makes it intrsting if this was all just in his head or not.
The way i get it frank was a guide for donnie as were the water things coming from their chests trying to get him to bring the artifact back to the primary universe
for those who don't get this movie it was much more than just saving Gretchen like returning the artifact (plane engine) to the primary universe look it up go to the ellite .net it pretty interesting

An absolute masterpiece from Tears for Fears to this man who made the best ever part of this, it is haunting, troubling and still very calming. I can not get enough of this song.

@tuned1221 its not like a song thats supposed to make you cry... dreams of dying dont mean suicide, just looking foward to seeing what death is like. idk maybe its about suicide but i cant help but find a deeper meaning than that lol. i take it as a smart kid whos drifting through life, overwhelmed by the world around him. yadigg? xD

A storm is coming, Frank says / A storm that will swallow the children / And I will deliver them from the kingdom of pain / I will deliver the children back the their doorsteps / And send the monsters back to the underground / I'll send them back to a place where no-one else can see them / Except for me / Because I am Donnie Darko.

On the 10th of Jaunary 2011 a worldwide boycott of youtube will take place.
Which means for one whole day no-one will visit youtube. This is to show the
owners of youtube, that they are turning a great video sharing site, into
a corporate money-making tool. We want vevo and other companies out.
Do your part, copy and paste this onto other videos, and please give this comment a thumbs
up
