You are awsome---I hear so many wannabes but Damn dude u got skill---not to fast and not to pretentious----are u a professional----if not---quit ur job and just play
Very impressive. One of the best guitar rags I've heard in a while. Absolutely flawless. Unfortunately all I have is monopoly money. Is there anyway I can by pass that little fee? it would be the nicest thing anyone has done for me. I wanna play this song!
Great Martin. Hate you're in Sweden, love to see ya perfrom. I went to a few concerts this year, Krauss and Union Station and just saw Vince Gil...man, love to see you on stage with those guys. Vince can play better than I thought.
OK Martin, great pickin'! I was hunting for some fingerstyle lessons and ran into your vids. You have a great balance of style, technique and passion. Very nice.
Man, this is some serious playing. I just don't know how do you have only 9000 views, cause you deserve a lot more. I've listened to Emmanuel and been on 2 shows, you are musical like him, if not more, but I see less show off and atraction, which means a lot to me. I'm looking foward to the rest of the rags. The "Forever young" arrangmet is pretty amazing, I think you deserve more publicity!
coming from a guy who has played with artists like rick mcrae(george strait), floyd domino(western swing) and others, great job man, talent, pure talent
Music theory - could be helpful at times when working out interesting chord alterations or progressions. (Although I´m close to musically illiterate myself :)
Your ears and brain have to do most of the work - I´m sorry (lol)
Great song, I will buy this one too. Regarding your right hand technique: Do you have contact with the body of guitar (or low strings) to maintain stability?
I use a lot of right hand palm muting so that´s a way of keeping a steady position. I rest my hand on the bridge saddle, mostly on the low strings. If I do the snapping effects, "twang", I usually palm mute that note to get what I call "the built-in compressor".
(I don´t think I use the "pinky on the top of the guitar"-technique so much as I see many others do.)
Tjena, Martin! Tänkte bara lämna ett inlägg här också. Har skrivit i gästboken på din sida. Den här "ragen" låter lite originell men du har fått till det bra! Avslutet är så underbart! Ett sant nöje att lyssna!
The tab for the open tuning thing at my website under "gear" coming up soon. I just put up a video of the song it´s from so you can see what I´m doing.
@pinofluvius I love ragtimes.....congratulations man !!

Do you have any tips for someone who wants to be able to write their own songs like that later in life?
Do you need to read music or, understand what every note and chord is just by hearing it? What is the main key?
xXAvatarofGuitarXx 3 years ago
Hmm, it´s kind of a mystery to me as well...
Experience is one key, I guess.
