  • It is literally sous vide, because you repackage the egg into the plasticwrap without any air, but the real "sous vide" employs LOW temperatures, not a rolling boil.

  • This is the first Chow tit's video i find usefull apart from the wine related ones.

  • omg O_O nice

  • I hate how people just turn into critics :/

  • isn't this the arzak egg.

  • Sous-vide seller vakuovani.cz

  • That was clever. I like it.

  • Absolutely not sous vide at all. This video ought to be edited for misleading content. Oh well...

  • @ChefChrisDay I agree, nothing to do with sous vide

  • ish clever, plastic cling film is approved for contact with food, dunno about really warm food though.

  • This would have been sous vide if you put the bag to your mouth and sucked the air out. And the boiling water defeats the whole purpose. By the way, there is no such thing as a sous vide egg. Putting an egg in a circulator does not constitute a vacuum environment anyway. The term sous vide is getting so thrown around. Now let me get back to eating my Kellog's sous vide corn pops! LOL...

  • yes, this is a great idea and looks delicious, but is not sous vide. a sous vide egg does not involve boiling water, should take much longer than three minutes, and requires some precise control over the water temperature.

  • most industrial strength plastic wraps are heat resistant up to 280 degrees, much higher than the boiling point of water...

  • This is so awesome with a big duck egg

  • Not sous-vide!!! But a great technique

  • Sorry, but is 'Plastic Wrap' Cling film? I'm just asking because I've never seen anything like that were I live and I'd really like to try this.

  • @pritzi101 Yes, it's cling film

  • Thanks :D

  • I think i am in love with your ways!

  • oh my god... that seems even easier than waiting for soft cooked eggs in the shell. ::drool::

  • Wouldn't the boiling water melt the plastic wrap, resulting in a plastic-covered egg?

  • Oh wow, never saw that before. I should try it out some time. ^^

  • can i use a rubberband if i dont have butchers string?

  • wow

  • i dont have access to the proper cooking equipment where i recently moved so this is a great tip! cant wait to give it a try.

  • Yummy

  • This Vid FTW!!!

  • i just tried it... BEST THING EVER!

  • Won't there be chemicals in the plastic wrap?

  • @Lariiperson nope but to me isn't a tehcnique of poching eggs, to me its just taking the egg from the sheel season it and put back to the sheel and cook

  • @Lariiperson No.

  • @Lariiperson Suppoedly, it's not as bad as putting plastic wrap in the microwave.

  • @Lariiperson Nope

  • @Lariiperson Polyethylene doesn't break down until 235F

  • why use a plastic bag when I can just use a proper pan for poached eggs O_o

  • Not everyone has one.

  • A lot less mess to clean up?

  • Nice!

  • That is nice.

  • I'm so doing that tomorrow morning.

  • Holy shit! I gotta try that some time. Looks so good.

  • oh noo! all the pcb's!

    my seamen hurts

  • lol

  • yum yum melted plastic

  • doesnt the plastic melt?

  • Plastic can actually have pretty good resistance, but the trick to that is because it is in boiling water, instead of a constant hot surface like a hot metal, in that case the plastic would melt instantly. Since it's in the water where the molecules are constantly moving it doesn't give enough direct heat pressure to the plastic in order for it to melt. The integrity of the plastic changes due to the heat of course, but it won't melt into your food! :D

  • oh ok thanx : )

  • :D :D :D

  • nnnnice !!!

  • wow that is so cool

  • huh good idea

  • Must tell my nan, she loves poached eggs

  • Same.
