It'll work better with a single lever for both wheels because when someone is holding a door open he can't push both levers and chair will turn halfway in.
Looks really cool! I hope you soon make this available also in Europe (particularly in Spain), and at a reasonable price, as I can't afford but a common manual wheel chair..
Hi Joel i was just watching the video about the zinger & reading ur comments. I am wheelchair user& wud love the zinger. Have u tried RGK wheelchairs, they offices in england and america, Depending ur location u can find the contact details on the website. From Colm in Ireland
Brillant I want one, my massive scooter is to big for a hilly town center. I will never ever buy one of them granny type scooters and I hate being pushed.
@JoelQ502 I dontr think there is a lot of companies beter equiped than invacare to handle the job, they just need to figure out hopw to make the most money from it and do tyhe APQP for production and oh yes the aproval of the FDA, so i gues the answer is "NOT ANY TYME SOON"
@JoelQ502 ok that is sad, but I hear that ivacare still has the rigght to market it, I have the number for one of their reps ithink Ill give hima call..
@JoelQ502 THANKS, BUT i KNOW THATN INVACARE HAS AQUIRED THE LINCENCE TO MARKET THE CHAIR. MY QUESTION IS DO YOU HAVE A TIME FRRAME THAT i COULD SPECTING TO SEE THE ZIGER?
insurance has approbed me for a power weelchair, this is exactly wath I need, can someone tell me how can i get this, Ive herd that invacare is going to sell this in the states ploeace help
I want a Zinger! I have an Invacare A4 with a 20 X 18 seat. I hope I can purchase this product when it arrives on the market. Do you know yet when we will know if my chair can accommodate it? Is there a weight limit? Price quote? Thanks. I'll keep looking for updates soon.
I very much like your idea and would love such a wheelchair especially for holidays. Much better than my heavy battery operated chair although it is quite zippy but heavy.
Any thoughts for adaptions for those of us who can only use one hand.
Congratulations and best of luck with manufacturing.
THAT... is a piece of brilliant engineering. I sincerely hope that Invacare handles it properly. All too often to big corporations destroy such designs as they attempt to squeeze more profit margin. This invention is fantastic. It has the potential to benefit the lives of MANY people.
Love the look of it and like others want to know when and how to get one. I don't have an ultralight chair -- but from what I see it looks like Invacare Top End is the one to get. Thanks Royce for insisting I make the time to look at this.
Joel Ican't possibly tell you the problems we have just been trying to solve and this will do it! Please put me on the mailing list or info or whatever
Joel, any word on this product? I am beyond restless.....what is taking so long!!??? I have been following this and willing to write a check ever since the day i saw your first gas model video...that was 3 + years ago!!!!! Any updates Joel?
This is wonderful. Too bad a private company can't manufacture them and sell them. Invacare will hike the price tremendously as would any medical supply place. Speaking as a paraplegic of 25 years, the medical industry takes advantage of those in need for equipment. If you dont have insurance you are helpless. If you do have insurance often times they dont want to cover it. I would prefer to buy it outright from an independent company. Good luck! WIsh you well. I want one too.
ohh scuse me ! i can talk in english too ..i translate = i want one !! how i can buy 1 ??? im paraplegic t'il 3 years and i like ur product ! please can u help me ...i have 4 child ..and i only have 31 years old ..with that i can go much anywhere ..
I just have 2 question how many thousands will it cost, and why will health care cover it? :-) I think this is a great idea, and I know plenty of people who would like one, beats using gas powered scooter motor parts.
my joystick power wheelchair isn't jerky when I drive or turn...that guy in the promo video just sucked at driving. U guys probably don't have a sponsor company to mass market it because u aren't advertising it as a good alternative to a manual chair user. Instead u make it sound like its an alternative to ALL wheelchairs while putting down joystick powerchairs...kinda silly
Invacare/Top End has acquired the rights for the Zinger and are determining what modifications may need to done in order to begin production. I had a chance to briefly demo a prototype and thought it was awesome. Kudos to Joel and Royce for a very clever well-designed invention which can truly make the world more-accessible for manual wheelchair users.
Product managers/engineers from Invacare / Top End who gave me permission to disclose they obtained the rights for the Zinger. They exhibited it at a recent event hosted for seating clinicians from around the country. I had a 5 min. demo of a prototype on a Crossfire. It exhibited the same performance depicted in the video. It may be several months away, but Invacare/Top End would like to know what changes potential end users would want to see in the production version.
AWESOME, seems very well engeneered, with lightness a major priority. Ill want one, but HOW MUCH, HOW MUCH, HOW MUCH? for those of us without insurance, need to know. sir, you should get some major prize for this,it will change the lives of sooo many. comgradulations on your success!
This is AWESOME. I can see an enormous market for it as soon as it starts being mass-produced. It would make getting to class so much less stressful!!
What a killer concept!...You know, you really should think of making a beach going version as well. Will you be at the abilities expo in LA this year?
I hope you continue to push this through to the marketplace. What a wonderful invention! It would really have a positive impact on my mobility! Good luck and keep us posted!
Wow! What an incredible product. You are so right about the Zinger taking away the focus of the person's disabilities and instead showing how easily and quickly they can maneuver around. Great video with many good points.
Would this fit a regular manual chair with the X-brace underneath? Or is it just designed for ultra-lights? I've always hesitated getting power chair in case something breaks down on it. I'd be dead in the water. With this, I could just tool around as normal in case of a malfunction.
When made available, I would post a list of the few chairs it wont fit as well as max and min width dimensions. And, naturally, 30 day return policy. of course that depends on the company that markets it. Thanks for writing.
If you read the "more info" you will see that this is not available yet. We are actively seeking to license it to a qualified manufacturer. Will let you know as soon as it is available. Thanks for your interest. - Joel

@JoelQ502 the quote "manubers like this will tip over a conventional chair" is that means that the ziger is stable?
