  • i heard it's a great movie but this trailer does not make me want to watch it. should I buy it and see how it is?

  • i tought it was stupid, but when you give a simple idea and give it to Stiven Spielberg then you get a great movie, it is simple but very good!

  • I grew up with this movie. Best. Movie. Ever.

  • "You can't beat me on the Grade!!"

One of the best films Ive ever watched. Just brilliant.

  • This movie gave me nightmares,, ever since i watched that movie i've been gettin these crazy dreams and waking up in the middle shouting MAMA TRUCKS. Don't let your kids watch this shit

  • Ridiculous trailer, great movie.

  • the trailer sucked but the movie was just plain awesome, it kick ass, YEAH!!!!!

  • Great film. I love it.

  • Dennis weaver ass was scared ass hell wen he did this film r.i.p. Dennis weaver

  • I watched this movie twice as a child but never new the name of it or who made it until now!

  • gripping story, good performances

  • Apparently people making trailers in the 70s had a $5 budget and 30 minutes to finish it

  • This sure made director Spielberg ready for "Jaws" a few yrs later, no doubt about it!

  • That would scare the shit out of me!!!

  • worst movies on the face of the earth :)

  • @yellertree Huh, what? What is "worst movieS" (plural)? Are you referring to this one (singular) movie? ???

  • Spielberg at his finest...

  • Just watched it yesterday in TV. Just cool and unbelievable ending :-)

  • This movie is probably the closet adaptation to a Richard Matheson story that I've seen.

It's basically the story on film.

Which is why it's my favorite Matheson film, and also because Spielberg did an awesome job with it, and so did Weaver and Loftin

  • this movie is a metaphor of humans and inevitable dead

  • that movie is so fuckin awesome

  • @KingGeorgeX fuck you

  • This movie kicks butt!! This is totally THE coolest movie of alltime!

  • I love how the movie name 'DUEL' just appears out of nowhere and blinks time and again.

  • @noglaman More like they should, as I have, and I'm alive, but you just plain shouldn't be alive. Yeah, that's much better than what you said! hehehe

  • When he was stopped at Chuck's Cafe, why didn't he just walk out to the truck and get the license plate number and then call the cops?

  • I saw this film as a small child, and it scared the living hell out of me.

Thats exactly was Spielberg wanted to do. I don't even think I walked NEAR a semi until I was about 16.

  • fantastic film ....... thank you ........

  • i love the part near the end when the car is having real touble trying to get up the hill and he screams COME ON like a little girl i laugh so hard

  • Fantastic.

  • Dennis weaver is a funny guy. Especially when he's looking out the window blinds. Looks like he's on crack all paranoid lol. Love this movie.

  • i like these movie alot

  • Comment removed

  • Its almost looks like the truck megatron turns into in Transformers 3.......Oh crap.

  • Can someone just make a remake??!! This movie is awsome! And I wish there were more of these kind of movies; I like these a lot more. Killer drivers behind the wheel!

  • this movie used to scare the shit out of me

  • how many different angles did they want to fit in this movie lol

  • @downwithcheesecake You're an idiot.

  • @downwithcheesecake

Do you realize this is one of the most plagiarized films of all time? It's a fucking all-time classic made by Steven Spielberg and written by Richard Matheson and starting the great Dennis Weaver. It was originally a movie of the week but was soo good it actually played in theaters. what a idiot you are

  • @downwithcheesecake Have you ever heard the word suspense?

  • @downwithcheesecake fuck you

  • @downwithcheesecake O yeh your 15 that explains a lot U fan of Twilight and Justing Bieber

  • 4/30/2011

Chuck's Cafe’, the truckstop at which a frazzled Mann tries to pick out the seemingly psychotic driver, looks much the same but has been transformed into an upmarket French restaurant. Not quite what you expect to find out in the desert wilderness. It's called "Le Chene" and is located at: 12625 Sierra Highway, Agua Dulce.

  • @SeberHusky That is so random, but thank you for telling us. O_o I'm surprised it changed, actually. You'd think they'd stay the same and become a cult tourist attraction.

  • @SeberHusky That's actually pretty interesting. I checked it out on Google Street and I know I've driven right by that place on the Sierra Highway, but had no clue! Next time I'm back in the LA area I'm going to have to check out all sorts of movie locations I've discovered lately. So many I've been through or near but had no idea!

  • I first saw this on TV in England back in 1990. Until DVD's were invented, you could only find the VHS at obscure independent video stores.

This is a great movie, but today's movie buffs probably haven't even heard of it.

  • @MondoBeno and now you can only find them at REALLY OBSCURE independent video stores.

  • Oh dennis, Dennis, where art thou, Dennis? We miss you.

  • Duel kind of makes me want to at least drive a Plymouth Valiant. Also, I have a guitar that I'm restoring and I'm thinking of refinishing it similar to the color of the Valiant in this movie.

  • when you watch this film you just think why the fuck doesnt he just turn around and go home?

  • @MOONST0MP Heh!

Uhh, maybe because I think that he was a looong way from his home...? AND, in case you never noticed (because you didn't seem to notice), it looked a lot like that truck owned the road a lot more than he did. Yeah, maybe that's just only a couple of reasons why hehehehe

  • its like serial killing thriller

1 man vs an enigmatic murderer except in theis case on the road

  • You know that truck is so evil and yet it's a hero to so many. They should bring the truck back in a movie but this time as the good guy. Just imagine the truck being chased by someone in something even more evil. We would all root for the truck and it would come out the winner. Woopee!

  • ...or it could be a water-tanker truck that could put-out ...and extinguish brush-fires... and even forest fires... and it could definitely help... and if we were to modify the water-delivery-tanker-truck(by using our imagination) ...then... then we would NOT need any stupid HERO Fire Fighters... and the water-tanker could even be used to fill-up the watering-drinking-holes... for the animals... and so they too can swim in some clean water... and be normal... and clean... hmmm... simple ha?

  • ...because driving a Tanker-Delivery-Truck requires EXTRA-amounts of NOGGEN... because the liquid-load... that is being delivered... splashes from side to side... and from left to right... and front to back... and the liquid inside the tanker-container... will SHIFT all by it's self... as if "it has a mind of it's own" ...and even GRAVITY will affect and move the liquid-load that is being transported and delivered... and it could even be drinkable fresh-water for the kids/teenagers... hmmm...

  • ...ohhh... so it was Steven Spielberg... the flower-power-Jew-bastard director who has contributed to accidents... and insurance claims... and added to the fear and confusion of the highly-responsible job... of driving a tanker-truck... and delivering fuel... to water to any liquids... or gases in liquid forms... hmmm(shame) ...so lets please get-the-fuck-out-of-the-way... and lets NOT cut them off... and lets NOT stop in-front of front of these true driving professional...

  • Hello Duel fans....Was the truck driver real?

  • i have this movie and i love it

  • i got that movie...and i love it

  • they did remake its called Joy Ride

  • They probably make a remake of this soon

  • Such a cool movie.

  • Dennis, you may be gone, but you're still loved by your many fans.

  • It's time to D-D-D-D-DUEL!!!! *cue Yu-Gi-Oh theme*

  • Our Professor showed this movie to us in film class. KISMET !

  • Look here Mcloud, you drop dead, you gotta 10 gallon hat on a 2 pint head. In fact, hold on Mcloud, you're a clown, you pull out your gun, your pants fall down, you're all just dumbos, Columbo's King of the Cops.

  • The truck, is that a Peterbilt?

  • @DPwatkykjy 1955 Peterbilt 281

  • read the story, then i saw the movie in class, and i thought it wass amazing

  • Speed Racer was in the truck...End of comment section

  • DUEL DUEL DUEL DUEL DUEL

  • I read the trailer here is what I got: DUEL DUEL DUEL DUEL DENNIS WEAVER DUEL DUEL DUEL DUEL DUELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A Universal Picture Copyright (C) MCMLXXII by Univeral Pictures. All Rights Reserved.
  • A classic thriller!

  • Legend is that the driver of the truck could be the Stig's evil American truck driver cousin.

  • @CanuckaLocomia Or the Stig has just hates mopars.

  • Bellissimo film di inizio carriera di spielberg,

Bel ricordo di tempi ormai andati!!

  • Bellissimo film di Spielberg ,bel ricordo della mia gioventù

  • Love it - have it on DVD - never get sick watching it - I actually read the short story it was adapted from in Playboy years ago - (see Honey - I do read it for the articles!)

  • i have it on dvd, brilliant film.

  • I don't think anyone would have trusted him to make a movie about a shark of all things if he hadn't done this first. There truly is nothing more horrific than a guy who will kill you for nothing and has the means to do it easily.

  • 70% of the people in my country have seen this fucking movie...It was on TV like 998356798734 times till 10 years ago :)))

  • fucking awesome lets kill the 3

  • Not a very good trailer, is it?

  • This movie had a certain freakiness to it. Don't know what but I'd shat myself if I ever saw a truck like this.

  • LOL why doesn't the guy just walk out of the car and go to a town or something....

  • great way to start a film career but Alfred Hitchcock is the master of suspense and Spielberg got hes skills from him.

  • @badturkali Well though that's rather true, Spielberg also made the late, great Hitchcock a little jealous and envious, most especially with the "Vertigo Shot" in Jaws.

The very cool and innovative Vertigo Shot was INVENTED by Hitchcock, but was PERFECTED only by Spielberg all those years later in 1975. Very unexpected and surprising, and completely and wholly true! hehehehe

  • there is an episode of Incredible Hulk called, "Never Give a Trucker an Even Break" which is almost scene for scene exactly like this movie. Great episode, awesome movie!

  • Duel Duel Duel DUEL DUELDUELDUELDUELDUELDUELDUELDUEL

  • GREAT MOVIE

  • When he's in the restaurant he orders just swiss cheese on rye bread, then when he gets his sandwich he asks the waitress as she's leaving that he want's ketchup. who eats just a plain sandwich with just cheese and ketchup? LOL!

  • @junkyturd Hehe probably a man with no appetite whatsoever left LOL hehehe

  • How's that truck going so fast?

  • @MrThegodfather2010

The car had an underpowered engine. They only reach about 100 mph in the movie.

  • Che figata di film....troppi ricordi

  • ww w . staking- tips.co . cc

  • If I had to pick one movie to be in it would be this one. However, I would be adjacent from the action looking on haha!

  • Im born 1994

I think this is one of the Best Films in this World

    (1-10)

    10*

  • buy silver, protect your wealth

  • this is one of my favorite films! it is awesome!

  • So the Movie JAWS is supposed to be an underwater version of Duel?

  • Oh man, that was so corny... Its a kick ass movie though

  • I remember watching this with my daddy when I was a little girl, I was fascinated with it. We watched it over the Christmas holiday and I was just as fixated. He is a trucker too and he said when movie came out, truckers were mad because they said the movie put them in a bad light. Funniest part of movie, when the old lady says "JIM!" What a movie!

  • They should remake this movie, but with Dennis driving a Prius.

  • @braincrisp1 The trucker probably picks priuses out of the grill of the truck every day.

  • @braincrisp1 why bother? they will fuck it anyway like all other remakes !

  • @braincrisp1 And the truck can be Optimus Prime lol

  • That is funny!

  • @braincrisp1 No they fucking shouldn't im tired of remakes there's 1001 books they could make a film of.

    This original is still good

  • @Geemonster69 Yea, if they re-made Duel it'd be ruined with useless sub-plots and other stuff, destroying the simplicity of the original.

If anyone really wants a re-make, watch Joyride.

  • @braincrisp1 - a Prius huh?

    They're one helluva machine...

  • '60s and '70s movie trailers tend to be cheesy (IMO) but this is awesome!

  • @mathyou9 Yeah, but even so they're still generally way better than today's trailers that pretty much all look the same, being even more formulaic and cliched then the films they advertise! Much worse than that is that they just love to tell you waaay too much, spoiling the very movie that they're supposed to selling!

Jeez! Today's Hollywood is such awesome FAIL! Give me "cheesy", "corny" trailers over outright spoiling trailers any and every time! That spoiling shit is 100% unacceptable! hehe

  • they should remake but from the trucker's point of view

  • @NickBFilms, yeah

  • @NickBFilms lol

  • @NickBFilms I could actually like to see that.

  • Steven Spielberg is the reason i wanna be a director

  • i hope no because today he would call the cops with his iphone 4 and carey loftin would be arrested for lack of maintenance...

  • ive got a feeln this will be remade

  • Funny thing is in one of my pictures when I was around 9 yrs old, had me next to the floor model tv i grew up with! And this movie was on the tv screen. I think the picture was taken either in 79 or 80.

  • I used to watch this movie all the time when i was a kid. Today i saw a picture of a american truck and got to think about this one, was like 12-13 years i saw this movie. I love that truck!

  • Dude.

I saw like the last 20 min of this on TV last night.

    Crazy movie.

Anyone know where I can see the full version?

  • @DDFJ1230 I know you posted this comment about a week ago - but if you didn't find the movie yet - you can watch it full on youtube :)

Just search Duel movie part 1.. and you will see it.

    Fantastic movie. Suspenseful!

  • Dennis weaver made this movie! Good looking and highly energetic! Perfect for the part and a lot like Lee Majors of the same era. Men like these are long gone and we'll probably never see the likes of them again. Looks, talent and just plain stable and grounded - a rare commodity. I great movie and cult classic!

  • Great psychodrama!.. Duel rules...

  • This was Speilburg's first movie, right? =D

  • First time I saw this I didn't know what I was watching but I liked it and watched it to the end. I seem to fall asleep before one of todays movies finishes.

  • I just watched this film today when I got it on dvd, my first time it was aswell and I loved it. Spielberg hits the suspense genre well but Hitchcock will always be the master.

  • I heard talking about this movie from my grandfather....I thought "old, boring film". After I've seen it and,......God, if this is a damn good film!!!!!!! And it's Spielberg's too

  • love this movie

  • I watched this movie as kid in the 90's. Still one of my favorites. I was fortunate to live in So-cal too, so one day I drove and found the Cafe and the tunnel out on soledad canyon road. and yes, I'll admit I was checking my mirrors allot....

  • People need to show massive amounts of respect for trucks. They spend hours upon hours on the road every day bringing us our much needed trinkets from China after they've been deploted to a specific water port. Now if you piss off trucks you basically have a death wish every time you venture out on to the highway. You won't even be able to think straight because you'll be hungry and no food available, barely any gas left in your engine, no more soda, etc. Buyer beware.

  • @KiloByte69 YOU SAID IT MAN!!

  • suspenseful movie tyhat came out in 71---some super suspenseful scenes with danger all the way to the end! weaver plays a really good role here

  • duel was one mean movie back in 71 and still is a mean movie-----suspense ful as all get out!

  • @hammr25, one of the dumbest comments of all time

  • That's a trailer? wow that was bad. The movie is probably good, but there was no snake or spider in the short story. Also there was no children or train crossing scene in the book.

  • @ruffrydin10 Yeah, you're right. This was the trailer from the theatrical release. The movie was first shot as a made for TV movie, which was very accurate to the book. Those scenes were added for the theatrical version.

  • @ruffrydin10 They had to go back and add more scenes to the movie to make it longer so that it could play in theatres. So they got a similar truck (the old one was destroyed in the final scene in the original movie), and they filmed some new senes, including the school bus scenes, and the train crossing scenes.

  • I'm of the younger generation and I loved this movie when my dad made me watch it.

  • This is pissen me off...i want to buy the movie but i cant find it anywhere

  • @BranMac97 I just checked Amazon, they got it for $10! Go go go! ;)

  • @BranMac97 I bought it for $3.00 new in a video discount bucket, it's still around..

  • @BranMac97 Walmart online

  • @BranMac97 i can find it in chennai gemini

  • @BranMac97 Go to google, write: "DUEL" by Steven Spielberg (1971'Classic)

click on the first one, and there it is. Bad quality, but it's there - and for free!

  • @BranMac97 You could also (If you get netflix + the $2 dvd fee) get it off of netflix, but its dvd only

  • @BranMac97 the pirate bay.org

  • @BranMac97 Your not alone on that

  • This is a killer movie...

Then spielberg goes on to make the best movie of his career "JAWS"..

Fuck your CGI Movies these are the best by a mile..\m/

  • this movie is soo good

  • awesome film!!! seen it loads of times. got it on dvd but whenever i catch it on tele i always end up watching it to the end

  • "You can't beat me on the grade"

  • ONE OF THE GREATEST MOVIE THERE WILL EVER BE

IF YOUVE NOT SEEN THIS BUY IT NOW

  • this movie rules! it makes a scarry tone!

  • i love this Movie!

  • The truck was up for auction on Ebay a couple of weeks ago.

  • @Auggie56 Was it?

or you are just joking right?

  • @jiveroxiv Nope, he's right. It's been for sale multiple times over the last few years.

  • @Auggie56 How much did it go for?

  • loved this epic movie

  • What an EFFECTIVE thriller by a young Spielberg.

The truck is the greates non human character in history.

  • This movie makes you think twice about passing trucks!

  • I have to say when I first saw this movie, my thoughts were, O~M~G.... W~o~W. What an interesting thriller to view in the middle of night. I didn't know this movie was made for TV only given some of the scenes..., W~O~W!!! The funny thing for me off things was... I couldn't imagine officer McCloud as being the same person as this guy that Dennis Weaver portrayed both characters for.

  • Ok! you kids wanna play a game called Road Kill? X)

  • I saw it in the 80s, all I can say is one hell of a movie is all I can say, edge of your seat action, and I just got interested because of the trains and the truck, but after watchin' the w hole thing, man, I was hooked!

  • I seen this movie in 74 when I was 9, scared the livin shit out of me.....then I seen Maximum Overdrive later on, started liking trucks and made AC/DC my new favorite band, go figure.

  • Comment removed

  • fucking epic horn, yep and the cafe scene is probably one of the best scenes in movie history!

  • in the scene where he is being pushed toward the tracks he could have turned left but that would have made it boring haha I love this movie
