@Desideria7 Are you qualified to judge Daniil?What's your education background and your present position?Do you really understand what's music? Your comments seem ridiculous and I am lazy to pick out every detail to answer you.Remember,before you judge other people,other people will judge you as well.
Links to all the prize winners and their performances are on: chopin2010blog-dot-com. Daniil is very special and I believe we may expect great things.
@Desideria7@Desideria7 You express my sentiments exactly on this 'darling' of the current [restricted] piano world. When commenting on his playing recently, I used reference to a certain painting by Gainsborough that equates with your 'sweety boy." He plays *notes* the way he has HEARD them by other more mature artists. Nothing 'exudes' from his fingers with a tad of originality.
@janicezany "darling"??? and "sweety boy" ??? What exactly do you mean my those notions? Besides, what is wrong in being a "sweety boy" and being a good person? Would you be able to say what percentage of a sweety boy Daniiil has while playing "Mephisto Waltz? And who exacty Daniil is imitating, as you are suggesting? Could you give any names? Would you be able to do that? I find your comment very unprofessional, I must say.
I have one comment to the morons that have commented. Post your own video of you playing better and then maybe I'll have one iota of respect for your opinions. I used to listen to the Dallas Symphony and read the local critic John Ardoinne and wonder if we went to the same concert by his comments. The difference, I have played in orchestras for years on trombone and tuba, nevermind keyboards. Those who can, do, and those who can't run their mouth.
It's a nicely played piece but it isn't a true mazurka (not very personal, not melancholic, not mysterious). I don't know why he received the award for it (probably because every winner of places from 1 to 3 received a special award, no matter what score he had in previous stages). But obviously Trifonov is a very good and talented pianist. I didn't voted, I'm writing what I think.
@hamelin69 “He has everything and more. What he does with his hands is technically incredible. It’s also his touch – he has tenderness and also the demonic element. I never heard anything like that.”
Martha Argerich interview - Financial Times, July 8, 2011
@sirdicaudore and why if Martha Argerich said all that did Trifonov only place 3rd at the Chopin Competition? Has Argerich said such things about Avdeeva? I don't think so. So why, dear Martha, did you and the jury only give 3rd prize?????
@chobeethaninov for the very simple and obvious reason she was part of a jury and the result is the addition of many votes. Is that so difficult to understand? Even when your name is M.A. you have to respect other people's opinion. She gave her personal (and very important) prize with this interview.
@sirdicaudore i truly thing that finally we have a true young artist here. the pearl like touch he has at any range makes him close to the young Horowitz. his sound is truly wonderful.
@hamelin69 Maybe all 5 would imagine that the great Italian piano maker Paolo Fazioli is just a simple peasant who can't even spell STEINWAY proper-like
he looks like he's a maniac strangling a puppy when you can only see his face. freaky.

Martha Argerich and Nelson Freire were the only ones who gave him the 1st prize. For me, that's enough. Check it out if you want:

@Desideria7
What are you talking about? He won two big majors just this summer. He is one of the giftedest young pianists of his generation. Hard worker at that.
Pure old school Chopin!

@Desideria7 Dumbest opinion ever.. but very typical for you.

You will find better sound quality from the 2010 Chopin Competition website. This performance is from Stage 2.
