Ronnie played guitar back in those days. He certainly doesn't play "too many" notes these days with his hands in the air posing..and neither does Keith actually...they could sure use Taylor now.
@fld1201 yes he does. Which shows in the huge decline in their sound. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing. No one is a bigger Stones fan than me, and I love ronnie. Black And Blue is a great album, and they put out a lot of good stuff with Ronnie. But nothing compares to the Mick Taylor era. Not only albums, the 75-76 tours show clearly how much influence and how important MT was just after he left. Their live sound and quality went to shit, compared to what it was.
@steveconn "endless masturbating solos"? From what I've seen, generally, neither Mick T. or Keith played particularly long solos. That said, I'll have to agree with you, the feel of the music remained the same with Ronnie.
@EggCrabPaper It's just Taylor is constantly cramming as many notes as possible all the time. A solo throughout the song that just sounds like busywork.
YO chriss999 i can not believe lrss than 1500 people have checked this out Thanks for puttin out there for old Stones Lovaaaas like me to see & hear. PA sucked. The Floyd had their moments of despair at Knebworth too.

Ollie Brown provided percussion on this tour. Note almost came to a grinding halt at the second lead break; band pulled it back together nicely.

Anyone know who the guy on drums (behind Charlie Watts) is?
redwan03able 1 year ago
@redwan03able Ollie Brown. He was with the Stones about the same time as Billy Preston in the mid-seventies.

@TheRabidPosum Not really, it just lacked his endless masturbating solos. The groove, grit and power remained the same.
