  • I never saw a Comet 1 :-(

  • jimmy man, that comet 1, 5126 and please, email me all the pl42ac footage

  • Jimmy, Man your videos kick ass. So do you live near the tracks? My Dad works for Norfolk Southern, and he heard thru the grapevine that they may bring the old N&W 611 back to life. I got to ride in the cab with him, but I could not record it cause some big wig from NS might see the video. Sucks had some GREAT Footage. Keep up the Great Work!!

  • NICE, 611 was a nice clean locomotive, I lie 1218 and 611. Thanks so much for the coment, your video are great as well. yes, I live about 10 blocks from Ridgewood's train station. Thanks again

  • jimmy amazing job, not enough pl42ac but still great job and lol i hate u, 4102!!!!

  • well, I didn't want Pl42ACs to ruin the video like they have the NJt system. hahaha hanks man

  • thanks!

  • Good job!

  • thanks

  • really amazing video. there may be only 3 solid sets, but plenty more are mixed in with the comet IIIs and IVs

  • I can never pick out which are 1s and 2s in a mixed set, but oh well, at least they're around

  • Comet Is have the skinny blue bar and no middle doors and the IIMs have the fat blue bar (similar to the Comet IVs) but with no middle door. There are no Comet IIM trailers left. According to Wikipedia (which is usually reliable) there are 45 trailers and 35 cab cars. But there's also a bulleted statement in the 'Remarks' column 'Currently being replaced'. And it says that the page was last updated 10:23 PM yesterday (9/29/08).

  • wowowowo, YOU MEAN U THINK IT"S BLUE!???? ok, the Metro North (MTA) owned and painted ones are blue, NJT cars DIDN"T HAVE BLUE!!!!!!! Everybody thinks the NJ, DOT ones where blue because of the U34s being bluw, they where back, the HO scale models are black, and no offense, but that annoys me when someone says they are blue

  • Whoa! OCD moment! Do you understand though, now the different between the different types of coaches in a crowd?

  • 7yeah, if they are MNRR comet 1s (no more of then) they have blue, if they are NJT, they're black

  • The cars you are talking about aren't Comet Is and they're still around but of course, not on the Port Jervis Line. Dumbuff's got some videos of them on the Harlem Line. They've also were repainted over the past 10 or so years. They used to be dark blue, now they're light blue.

  • oh really!

  • ive got a current roster of all comet cars in my training package somewhere, ill try and figure this all out and post it.

  • kewl

  • i gotta check on the comet IIs, they were still in use during the summer, ill ask my instructors tomorrow. i cant find my roster. btw, here at NJT, they call the comet 1bs "camaros" comet/arrow.

  • There are no cars on NJT with blue window bands.

  • thank you, from a real transit man too

  • those are from meto-north.

  • Exactly. They where Metro-North cars. They ran on NJ Transit property, but where never on the NJT Roster. All these cars have been relocated to the east side of the Hudson River as of 2002.

All other cars in the NJ Transit roster either sport a black window band or none at all.

  • thanks!

  • you mean the NJT cars arent dark dark dark dark blue? oh well, i guess jimmy wins that one.

  • HELL YEAH, told ya BITCH!

  • More Comet Is! Keep them coming. BTW, there's no high quality.

  • thanks, I will, no I'm in the hunt for Comet 1s, being that there are ONLY 3 sets left on NJT. and there is now

  • How many cars are in a set?

  • um, hard to say, the 3 sets have 4 (this one), 6, and a 5 car set, those are the full sets I've seen

  • So there's a grand total of 15 Comet Is left on NJ Transit. I'm just speculating, but they'll be gone very soon. Are the rest just in 'long-term' storage? SEPTA only got 8 sets. Did they get ALL of the Comet IBs or just some and NJT just put those in storage as well.

  • I assume so, the 1bs went to western canada or someplace

  • Many of the Comet IB's (along with some of the F40 and GP40FH's) went to AMT of Montreal. Some of the Comet I (pullmans) went to Septa, others to UTA, and some are apparently headed to Metro-Link.

Here in New Jersey, all of the Comet IB's are no longer in revenue service and sit on deadlines in the MMC. The ones that remain here in NJ, it looks like they all might take visit to the scrapper.

  • cool, at meast AMT will have some neat stuff

  • they arent in storage. you guys have all ur numbers wrong. aside from the complete sets which run on the mainline, the mixed sets run on the montclair line. we are very short of passenger cars so we are running them into the ground. theyre all in daily use.

  • There are no mixed Comet I/IB sets left on the railroad. All of the Comet IB cars have been removed from revenue service on NJT.

  • there is high quality, im watching it right now.
