The film wasn't directed by Flaherty eventually. He was hired to work with Grierson, but eventually spent most of his filmstock shooting tests. After he had used the stock he left the job. Grierson finished the film. Flaherty, however, left behind a couple of stunningly beautiful shots. Among them those of the pottery craftsman. And a few close shots of workers that are included int his clip.

Classic picture. This was more of a stop gap job for Flaherty though. Flaherty had the poetic eye for a simple craftsman, so he didn't enjoy making this film.
