1:54 she just did the 'up yours' sign!! LOL!!! Amazing work BTW ...glad amputees now have amazing technology to help them. Also these hands can rotate 360 and do other amazing things...soon they will be able to become much stronger than a normal human hand for example. Means more job oppertunities for amputees because they will be able to dosome jobs that other people cant. Awesome possibilites.
Touch Bionics, are most of your customers ex-military personel who were injured in combat, or people who have lost their limbs in an accident/at birth. I'm really quite interested.
Look back about 40yrs ago at the consumer market computers and compare to the ones we have today. No apply that same grow rate towards prosthetics like this. Things are going to be amazing.
I lol'd @ 1:53 when she makes the hand put up a middle finger...
But really, this thing is pretty amazing, cynics need to realize just how far this area of technology has come in the past 15 years... Yeah its not perfect, of course not, but its an area that is growing and improving more rapidly than most other current bio-metric type technologies.
this i limb is NOT as good as its made out i had one on trial and its bad points overwhelmed its good points the ottobok speed hand is much better i will post some vids of it
@djstevie2001 r u stupid or crazy, i have an i limb pulse, and before this hand, i had an otto bock c clamp, those hands are quit pathetic, if you prefer a otto bock over an i limb pulse...
@FutureMarineOfficer1 not quite yet by the look of the device it is designed for light work, including the newer models since you posted on this video, they haven't built anything(that I have yet found prior to making this post) that could take the shock of hitting the ground or the abuse asked of being deployed.
the bionic hands in development are pretty advanced besides the thumb. i have chronic tendonitis and i cant do certain positions with my hands without huting like stretching out fingers, or bending them besides a small bit up and down my thumb is fine though. i woudl favor a bionic hand if they can get feeling and the thumbs to work and if the fingers could move faster
@Xraybobby it works excellent, i just recieved my i limb pulse about a month ago, it takes some time to master all of the functions, but it is quit easy to use.... by the post of your comment, they only offered the i limb hand, as of now they offer a 2nd version called the i limb pulse, it comes with usb bluetooth software called mybiosim and you can see the electrodes on a map, opening and closing, you can change grip patters your self with out going back to your clinician, i just love it!
Sorry to say, but that's nothing. There are now prosthetic hands/arms with many more capabilities and that are capable of pressure sensitivity and I believe touch sense.
Everything is baby steps. This is the next phase! They already looking at identifying individual nerves for separate powered finger control. Still, even this level is awsome and much more useful in everyday life!! :-D
So, here we have an invention that will be a true gift to mankind--a true bionic limb helping amputees live more normal lives, and all anyone can talk about here is whether or not she gave the finger with it, or that the soldier put his ATM card in backwards or typed his actual PIN number? Wow.........
I think it's great when this kind of stuff is focused on people who actually NEED it. I was half expecting to see some sort of exoskeleton type hand or to see a soldier who's been given a hand that can crush steel. It'll be nice if someday we can wipe out handicaps all together.
She could not wank you off in the cinema everyone would hear it.... :S hehehe
