  • 1:04 Gail! Thats not a hockey puck!

  • nope, i don't think it's just letting in more water. the water seems to really pour out all over ... could it be the gasket? i'll try putting in a new one. how does one know the size/part # for a replacement?

  • @tinbiscuite Did you try flipping over the little 'donut' up above the screen? You could have put that in upside down and it would have this affect. You can pick up a gasket on our site under the Rancilio parts - Kat

  • thank you. i guess you mean tamp less or grind coarser?

    thanks for your patience.

  • @tinbiscuite Yeah, I'd just experiment with it a bit ... but, also, if your shots are tasting fine then I'm not sure if I'd worry (personally). If you notice a difference there, then play with your grind and tamp again. It's likely you might need to tweak it :) - Kat

  • so, i took out the screw and screen and disc. cleaned them with Cafiza then brushed off the remaining coffee and re inserted. now my water is coming out stronger but there is a puddle on top of the grinds after pulling a dbl shot. i've got the grind at the same setting pre clean. not sure if i have the parts in correctly. is there a video of yours that shows how to re assemble? have i done something wrong? if you'd like i can, if i figure out how to upload pictures will do.

  • @tinbiscuite Sounds like it's OK, but just that since you have cleaned built up oil it is allowing more water through. There could be more moisture on the top because of more water flow -- you could adjust your grind or tamp if it's affecting your shot, but shouldn't really be an issue. - Kat

  • soak it in 'kafeeza?'?

  • @jayscott49 Cafiza

  • thanx for the tips ladies , i dont know where you get the time to do all this ,, thanx so much, i wish you had a shop in brisbane australia!

  • @iansuncoast I wish we did, too! :D - Kat

  • She might have the look - but you have the voice baby! :)

  • @Tor1Amos Ha -- disembodied voices rule! :D - Kat

  • Kat: Thank you. Looking forward to that. I have done some trial and error and it very much seems like your video shows it wrong. But we will see.

If Gail refuse, perhaps you can do it? Would be nice to see what you look like :)

  • @Tor1Amos Well I will have her watch and then we can go from there. And she's the starlet, so...no seeing my face on that screen any time soon ;) - Kat

  • Agree with Henkera on this one. The shower HAS to be placed on the flat side of the brass disc. I have tried both combinations, and with the flat side placed upward you struggle to get the portafilter in place, AND the coffie becomes funny.

What I havent figured out is where the funny shaped washer is going to sit. Is it placed over the brass plate or underneath?

A video on this would be must welcomed.

  • @Tor1Amos I'll put it on the to-do list and see if Gail wants to do it. - Kat

  • @Tor1Amos I think its very logical how it all should fit together. Maby i'll make a video when ill get back to Örebro where my Silvia is. Could take a couple of months though.

  • I too have an older Silvia. Can't find anywhere anyone showing how to put the grouphead BACK TOGETHER. I'm not sure I'm doing it right. Any help? Thanks, and I LOVE your vids! They've helped me lots! :)

  • @famfan5 I'll put it on our list to do an instructional video in the future. - Kat

  • Didn't she put the screen back on the wrong side of the brass?

  • @Henkera Nope. - Kat

  • @SeattleCoffeeGear On my machine (v2) the shower screen is placed on the flat side of the brass disc. About 1:15 into you'r video it shows how you place the screen on the side that has tracks. Those tracks seems to fit perfectly against the group head. I cant see it any other way but pleas enlighten me if im missing something.

  • @Henkera

Yeah, I believe she did. I have a v3 and cleaned it up last night and decided to watch this today. At first I thought I did it wrong based on the video. However, before the brass fitting fell, it does show the flat (no groove) side facing down. Good catch!!!!

p.s. to all, I love my v3 Silvia. The best thing that I've ever bought!

  • @monmonping Yeah, i thought i was becoming more or less insane for being the only one to notice it.

  • Thanks ladies! Around how often should I be doing this if I am backflushing about every two weeks?

  • @vttran3 I'd say pop it out every 3 - 6 months, see how it looks. - Kat
