My battery life is the same, and i abuse my shit, like music, google nave, some games, couple 30 min phone calls, web browsing, app use and download. taking about 30 pics and 10-20 min of video, some wifi, medium screen brightness, some barcode scanning at 7-11, texting allllllll day, youtube, and banking 8) I love my Droid
Okay, WTF. My Droid battery only lasts less than one hour, my screen brightness is ALL THE WAY DOWN, the timeout is one minute, and I don't even use it half the time. I'm going to slap the assholes at Verizon.
@tigertemari7 fucking same here dude idk why. when i charge it it supposally says its done after like 20 mins. but it probably isnt and that probably why
@SemiFlared Okay, so I got it fixed. Just take it to Verizon, be like 'THIS BATTERY IS A PIECE OF CRAP' and then they'll apologize a million times and give you a new battery.
I was ready to buy this phone and I really liked to see the results on this video but after read a few comments, I realized that the battery life for some users is not good as we see on the video.
I also read some forums and looked for more info on Google. Right now, I confess that I am not sure if I buy or not.
hey i just got my droid and my battery dies for everything whats the battery life thing u have? or what is it?/i want what u have....so my battery wont die does anyone know??/?let me know asap thanks
Ok, So I Got A ? Or Two. 1: How Is UR GPS Talking? I Have The Same Kind And I Dont Think It Talks To Me? Or Did U Have It Hooked Up To The Thing For The Window? Or Was That The Update From Last Night? 2: I Watched Ur Video For Yahoo Email. Is Their A Better Yahoo Msngr App For The Moto Droid Then Hi Yahoo? I Heard EBuddy Was Good, But That One Is For FB And Stuff Also... And I Just Want 1 For The Msngr? Poss, Free?
Clearly the battery usage app doesn't report usage correctly if it said that said that the screen was using 74% of the battery life and the GPS 14%. Without using the GPS you lost 10% an hour, with using it you lost 50% in one hour.
I would wait because I heard a new iPhone OS is coming out and that could be amazing. But I have the Droid and it is AWESOME. Especially with the new update adding pinch to zoom, live wallpapers voice to text etc.
Its not really a test if you just leave the screen on and play music. the battery dies because of using 3G and playing games. 3G uses most of the battery
if you think about it, noone is gonna have there brightness on nonstop..well i dont think at least....you dont need to...so thas definately gonna add a good hour id say. in the end this phones battery will get you through the day while still being able to browse web, and all the other stuff you want.
I need some help,I just got my phone and when i left my home to go to school i was already at 50% after 4 hours of being unplugged. I was barely using it as well. Any1 know why this is happening?
thank you for that. i'm looking forward to buying the european version of the droid ( called the milestone) which has the same specs except of an additional multitouch support...
this phone is a temptation but competition grows stronger every day.. however nexus one has a poor battery life reported, it would be interested to see a comparison of these two in similar test,
Excellent vid! It really clearly demonstrates how badly the GPS will suck down the battery on the Droid. I only use GPS when my Droid is plugged into my car-charger.
First time I was using the Google navigation app, and playing music (Pandora). I thought it was so cool that it would kill the volume of the music when it gave you instructions. Love the Droid. It owns!
I would like to see you do a battery test for voice calls. maybe you could call some sort of 1-800 number that would never hang up on you and just leave it there and see how long the battery lasts when you're just using it for voice calls.
it also works pretty well when you download TasKiller, just get the free version, and there is an option to put a widget on the screen where you press a button and it kills all apps running in the background... very useful obviously for when you arent using the phone... since apps running in the background contribute to the pattery draining quicker... good tool to have.
Yes, task killer is a must have, for sure. I had all kings of crap running in the background that I didn't even realize draiing my battery. Does the widget indiscriminately kill every running app? That might not be good since there may be apps that I actually want to keep running.
Droid is a GREAT word i dont even know how to explain it, idk why pple complain about the battery , the battery is more than great , it changed my mind from buyin a nokia n900 , tomrow im going to get a motorola droid and switch back to verizon from att since my contract is done :D so excited cant wait ! GREAT VIDEO !!!!!!!!!!++++++++
k so texting and driving is bad....Your making a video , talking, listening to music, and looking at the navigator. and look what happend YOU RAN A RED LIGHT
well actually i dont exactly know if its a standard screen-lock of android, but a friend of mine has a htc magic, and he had this lock-screen by default, thats why i wrote my original comment (thinking it belongs to android by default)
You should have went to the Power Management Screen while in navigating with the GPS Radio active. This would show people that they should TURN THE GPS RADIO OFF when there not using it. Also if you not using the Bluetooth Radio TURN IT OFF, you battery will last you all day.
I was deciding whether or not to get the fone based on the battery but 7 hours! Plus, the light was on forever and same with music plus gps. I'm definitly getting this fone. Good video. 5 stars
@mbarnblatt perhaps you were doing something wrong. the performance of this phone used by this man here (and kind of EXTENSIVE USE, might I add..) is at the very least impressive.

Hey dude, great video..i wanted to get some ideas of battery life a trip i am taking by plane...
Although i am using a Motorola Milestone(GSM) i wanted to know how it did with video
I have run back to back high quality movies (1.8gigs) running at full 848x480 res, with Screen brightness on full and in airplane mode...
with all these in place, i ran it for 4hrs45mins...which is roughly the time i will be in the air...
Just wanted to share my findings...enjoy!

Touch

If you mean resistive touch versus capacitive touch... it is capacitive touch.
Not pressure based. It is based on a change in capacitance when a finger touches the screen.
