I got these in March and I am already well ahead of schedule for corrections. While they do hurt quite a bit when they are moving, they aren't that bad and certainly could be worse.

What this video is about is that the easier way for orthodontists to straighten crowded teeth IN AN ALREADY NARROW jaw/palate is pulling some teeth out in an attempt to make space for the other teeth. As a result you will have a narrower smile than the one you should have if they could stretch your jaw/palate to accommodate all your teeth. This is specially true for adults, since they have little to none remaning bone growing potential.
@youngt29 Yes we do in America. I have the Damon Braces... and I've heard that they are faster. My treatment is supposed to take two years. But the Orthodontist said usually they come off 3-4 months before what he had anticipated.

The decision whether extract or not to extract does not depends ont the type of appliance. I work with the several types of appliances for fifteen years. I`ve made my biggest expansions 15- 10 years ago. Now I know, that if I want to create beautiful smile, and the stable results , I have to make the smile proportional to the face. I already extracted two teeth. Another two more to go until I get my braces. No worries, I was nervous about the extraction too. But it isn't painful, really. Tetanus jab hurts more than the jab he gives you even though the needle looks HUUUGE AND SCARY. The only thing that's annoying me now is that there's gaps between my teeth. Yes, to make more room. When someones mouth is overcrowded (causing teeth to be crooked) sometimes teeth need to be extracted to make room. I am going to be having all 4 of my Wisdom teeth removed prior to getting my Invisalign braces.
When you have a brace you should wear a retainer afterwards, because your teeth can move back to how they were before. A retainer isn't as bad as it sounds, normally you wear them nightly for a year, then every other night for a year and so on.
i get mine 9 months ago i have three more months to go ..... i have already notice improvements after 2 months ... and now its much better..its takes only a year and you will have a nice smile already.....

I got something like this, they're called clarity braces. they're like the ceramic version of smart clip, so they're self ligating. Yeah so thay're mostly like this. It's true that theres a lot less time involved in the procedure (18 months instead of 3-4 years) but I wouldn't say that it's at all painless.
Its cool when they put them in, you hear the brackets clicking in your mouth. I got mine done yesterday, and there a little tender. But My cousin has had the older ones on for a year, and he says he's teeth are always tendrish. Whereas my orthodontist said it will stop being tender in just a few days. Definitely, recommend damon. Theres no tightening! just a change of wire ;) which doesnt hurt at all :P
mine were $5400, and worth every penny. first two orthodontists said 8 teeth need to come out! 4 wisdom and 4 regular ones to make room, but with Damon - no extractions! they come off around Christmas this year!
My parent's never would get them for me either when I was a teenager. It kind of hit me when I was 26 that I had the money and I've always wanted them so I just finally went ahead and did it. Maybe someday you'll still be able to get them if you really want them that bad.

i think i had those damon things, mine had gates and rubber crap, but the rubber was at the end, the braces were painful when they were first put on and tightened, I had mine on for about 2 years and my teeth weren't terrible at all, i think i had damon, i am not sure
it doesn't hurt right away like 2 hours later it hurst like hell but u could take a painkiller 1-2 dayz later u dont feel anything its not that bad but when they put them on the glue taste horrible and sour lolz
One last thing. My prelimenary set were old style "O-ring" braces. My new set were the newer ones.
THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE IN PAIN. LET ME TELL YOU. Not many people have had the "pleasure" of having both sets. IT. CHANGES. NOTHING. They hurt exactly the same.
And don't call braces anything but braces. "mid-face improvement" is a ridiculous term.
Pfft. I had braces when I was in primary school. Six months and my teeth were straight as well. It's the retainer that really kills it. Now i've got high quality braces (yes, again, the first set were never designed to fix everything, and my teeth went back to the way they were before), coming off next month and the wearing of the retainer will be minimal. Best of all, no teeth pulling needed!
I'm freakin' scared to get mine off. I don't have Damon brackets, but ceramic ones. I just want my teeth to be perfect and I hope the look okay when it's all done... I get them off in the fall. Scared!
I got these braces and the picture at 1:13 is more or less what my teeth look like, i hate them, ive had the brace on like... 2 months and there's a BIG improvement. The pain is nothing. You look at your teeth a forget about the pain. Worth it :)

Other times the arch can be widened and the back teeth brought forward to close any spaces

I never really wanted them when I was a teenager. I thought they looked horrible and i didnt really care about my teeth, now im 21 and im saving for braces.. lol Should of gotten them when I was younger but oh well..

i know what you mean my mom said that to. But i know if you go to foreign countries like Panama or Colombia you would only have to pay like 500 dollers panama usues American money.

i think i had those damon things, mine had gates and rubber crap, but the rubber was at the end, the braces were painful when they were first put on and tightened, I had mine on for about 2 years and my teeth weren't terrible at all, i think i had damon, i am not sure

it doesn't hurt right away like 2 hours later it hurst like hell but u could take a painkiller 1-2 dayz later u dont feel anything its not that bad but when they put them on the glue taste horrible and sour lolz

One last thing. My prelimenary set were old style "O-ring" braces. My new set were the newer ones.
THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE IN PAIN. LET ME TELL YOU. Not many people have had the "pleasure" of having both sets. IT. CHANGES. NOTHING. They hurt exactly the same.
And don't call braces anything but braces. "mid-face improvement" is a ridiculous term.

Pfft. I had braces when I was in primary school. Six months and my teeth were straight as well. It's the retainer that really kills it. Now i've got high quality braces (yes, again, the first set were never designed to fix everything, and my teeth went back to the way they were before), coming off next month and the wearing of the retainer will be minimal. Best of all, no teeth pulling needed!

I got these braces and the picture at 1:13 is more or less what my teeth look like, i hate them, ive had the brace on like... 2 months and there's a BIG improvement. The pain is nothing. You look at your teeth a forget about the pain. Worth it :)
