@Nikowil1 ya they were, im not sure bout the singing and dancing but letting you out when ever yes, even in the Sandlot (that was based in the 50's i believe also) the kids were like 13 or so all you had to do was say hey going out or whatever and they would let you, they didnt have to worry bout kidnappers and stuff like that back then
