Yeah Cheap.. 6000-8000 HP 0-300MPH in 5-6 sec. The fiberglass body is supposed to come off.. its just for aerodynamics. And the frame except for the driver cockpit is also supposed to come apart.. at 300MPH you have to dissapate the energy of the crash.
If you are referring to the fiber glass body/shell? That's not there for ANY kind of protection. It's strictly for aerodynamics and is made to come apart easily, same in every country that has these races, genius.
@xDOVERx haha your funny... debris injures has killed a lot of F1 and Indy drivers... when your exposed, and cars can lose wheels... it only takes on bad luck day to end it...
ASlley does it on her own volition though bjack. She is very good. John has been in more violent crashes than this before. This is minor compared to some I have in the the last 35 years..Oh, and Ashley force is hot as hell too, lol.Watching NHRA has always been really fun.Never boring too see this, esp compared to a bunch of retard hillbillies going in circles for 3 hours at a really slow 190mph. Fucking pussy shit.I love the short and sweet 10X the hp dragster than once again pussy nascar.
i was there it was crazy. i get bored of watching drag racing for a while so i was just sitting there texting and i decided to watch that race and i looked up right when they took off and bayum! then me and my dad came home late at night watching the rerun on espn.
john force is the best nhra driver nad would have to be the most popular and down to earth kind of racer. he is ;ucky that he didnt get killed in this crash.
wow thats some crash...talk about having guts.....to get back in one of these beasts and watch your daughter climb in one as well...man that is pressure
That shit is crazy, John's car split in half and the damm front half of the car WITH THE ENGINE is rollin' down the track!! Dayamm!! I was hearing that NHRA was designing these cars to break apart like that but I think NHRA should design them cars to STAY IN ONE PIECE, only thang coming apart should be the fiberglass body!
@VayLoc310 Breaking apart is good. It reduces the momentum of the individual parts. Plus the drivers are LITERALLY behind the engine. There is no firewall to protect them. If you hit the wall at 290+ and the engine hits you, you're gone. The breakaway system helps prevent that by pushing the engine downwards and away in an impact.
It looks like the timing cone punched a hole in the fiberglass body shattering it and a jagged piece of fiberglass sliced into the tire.
It looks like something similar to what happened with the space shuttle when a piece of foam hit the wing. Kenny must have been terrified when he saw the front tire chassis rolling past him. The grinding sound it makes is chilling as it gets close to the camera. John is going to have a long recovery to heal from this horrific wreck.
Kenny hitting the cones and John's crash were unconnected. John had a tire come apart on the OPPOSITE side of the car from Kenny. At those speeds, there is no possible way the block could have gotten to that side of the car. In other super slo-mo replays, the block clearly passes behind John's car. The only thing Kenny hitting the blocks did, was give John the win.
trentc32 you have got alot of nerve for your comment, 1st off it wasnt kenny's fault it was just a bad racing accident, 2nd the timing cone did get hit, but it didnt hit john's car enough to cause john's car to blow its tire, it was the tire itself that was the cause of the crash, and the tire blew seconds after it passed the cones and the finish line
Yeah, Treemaster7 sounds right, it looks like Kenny Bernstein was havin' problems period cuz his car was veering into the center divider toward John's lane, and whatever Kenny's car ran over flew into John's car causing the tire on John's car to shred and the blown tire shredded the body, not blaming Kenny, but his car was experiencing problems anyway.
They played a angle of the race from the far end of the track once .. just once.
When it comes to racing at the Texas Motorplex if you want complete coverage do not buy a ticket you are better off at home.
I had to make phone calls to know what took place concerning this accident... and they knew more than the spectators at the track... does that seem appropriate?
I was at the race on 9-23-07 and just arrived home. At the track they played (1) video about 3 hours after the accident and did not replay it. Texas Motorplex should be ashamed by not running the replay sooner and often at the track. EVERYONE at the track was upset by the lack of information provided by the Texas Motorplex after the incident. They lost alot of future ticket sales including mine by censoring this mishap to paying customers at the track.
the censorship is for the safety and privacy of the drivers and their families. they cannot run the video over and over incase of serious injury or even death. how would you feel watching a man die in a crash over and over again if he was your father? perhaps not being given the information that Mr. Force was overall ok, was irresponsible of the track, but replaying that video all day long would have caused even more worry to other drivers who were likely already quite shaken by the accident.
Over and over... are you kidding? They played a angle of the race from the far end of the track once .. just once. When it comes to racing at the Texas Motorplex if you want complete coverage do not buy a ticket you are better off at home.
I had to make phone calls to know what took place concerning this accident... and they knew more than the spectators at the track... does that seem appropriate?
I didnt say full height barriers... Im sure they could design a smaller/shorter version of the SAFER barriers to adapt to NHRA. Just something tall enough to keep the cars from crossing into the other lane should control be lost.
All of us in the tightly-knit drag racing community would like to express get well wishes to John. We all hope that John's legs, ankle and fingers heal well-- it's very encouraging to hear that the doctors believe John will be able to make a full recovery. We wish only the best for John Force and his family--- Get better John Force--- you know that you're in our thoughts and prayers.

I'm certain and PRETTY SURE the chassis broke in half - MY INITIAL thoughts were, like Mike Dunn said, a piece from the reflectors got under a tire and damaged the body (I though THAT before I heard Dunn)
John Force is the MAN!!!!

I think future modification of timing cone may reduce debris when hit.
Maybe it would be best to put concrete barrier between lanes.
billylauderdale 4 years ago
I dont know about "concrete" barriers, but possibly the new SAFER barriers would be a better option.
bulldg24 4 years ago
Barriers b/t lanes would never work... People in other classes have to be able to look over and see where the other driver is at compared to him...
