Now wait a minute. Just because it's not modernized does not mean it's not SAFE. Perhaps they're laze about basically "remixing" the elevator but that does not mean they don't maintain it.
There is an elevator like that at the U-Haul storage facility here in Denver. You hold the button for the direction you want to go and release it to stop. If you are short, you press it briefly to move inch the car up to level off. If you overshoot, you press "Down" to inch down.
those switches you hear are the selector switches in the shaft to tell the controller where the car is....the door cam that unlocks the doors is pulled back with a chain when the elevator starts so the doors cant be opened while in motion.
j'aime bien cet asenseur(ce sont les portes en hublot qui m'interessent) !

Are they going to modernise this elevator?
Mikey84 3 years ago
I don't know. Purdue is quite lazy about modernizing elevators.
musicfreakcc 3 years ago
Oh - in that case I guess it doesn't happen until someone is killed by that elevator...
Mikey84 3 years ago
They don't need to modernize that one, there is a very large Dover across the hall.

I could hear a Dover chime at the end of the video
jack9547 3 years ago
is that a public elevator?
dieselducy 3 years ago
It was hidden - there was another visible elevator nearby, but there were no signs saying that it was staff-only.

the fixtures are from the 70s,

Wow, so many videos! Did you ever get stuck while filming once?
wulffman007 3 years ago
I have never been stuck.
musicfreakcc 3 years ago
wow that's lucky. Old time for sure but not a bad looking one. How bad is the stop?
FranceHopper 3 years ago
you would be quite slow if u were 80 years old!
dudnolad 3 years ago
Well, all of the elevators back then were much slower. They did not have the technology to make the elevator come to a gradual stop.
musicfreakcc 3 years ago
Actually, I did hear a Dover bell when the button was pushed at the very end.
CaptainElevator42189 3 years ago
I know; it was a coincidence. The very large Dover elevator, the one that can hold 9500 lbs., is right across the hall.
musicfreakcc 3 years ago
almost like the old elevator in St.gallen. but this elevator is older.

Yes, I know that these elevators are well built, since it's still running good 80 years later!

Nothing. The other buttons said "Inch Up" and "Inch Down"
