  • im reading the sward of truth books for the second time. Cant believe that they r even better second time round. I dont think i will ever bore of them

  • @ziman1996 lol i know what you mean. im only on the third.

  • @zicareous He didn't really tell you that much. haha. I've finished the 7th however that was like a year ago haha. I got busy and I haven't started the 8th :P

  • dont worry m8 the tv is totaly differnt from the book

  • Wait I dint know Confesser was going to be the last one? wasnt he writting a new one. SOmething about machines

  • @Frogerfan0not

"Confessor" is the final book of the Sword of Truth series (which began with WFR); "The Omen Machine" is described as a "Richard and Kahlan" novel rather than a SoT one.

  • I have always wanted to read some of Terry's books. What is the best series to read?

I have just released my own novel, titled Demon Gates, as an ebook on amazon and smashwords. Check it out. It is book 1 of the Nexus Wars Saga, and like a lot of epic fantasy, is a coming of age / action adventure which will hopefully have readers enjoying and wanting more.

  • @Valdieron Terry Goodkind has a new book with us that will published in February 2011, The Omen Machine. It’s a new story arc continuing the adventures of Richard and Kahlan, but you do not have to have read the Sword of Truth series to follow the novel. Otherwise, you could start where it all began with Wizard’s First Rule, the first book of the Sword of Truth series.

  • Terry Goodkind is the definition of fucking kick-ass awesome

  • I would like the new "Richard and Kahlan" book (instead of another "Sword of Truth" sequel) to have Richard and Kahlan go back to their WFR roots, fighting together against more immediate, personal dangers and not necessarily "Dear spirits, we've got to rally the forces to fight the greatest menace the world has seen since last year!". That's a big reason why I'm partial to The Law Of Nines, even if it's a dressing-up of WFR.

  • sword of truth ended in such a let down. could have done a lot better job with the end of the series.terrry goodkind pulled a George lucus

  • That was interesting, thanks!!!

  • They should at least make the first book into a movie. As long as they stick to the book, not completely change it!

  • This series totally changed my outlook on life

  • This proves that Kahlan is supposed to be pronounced "Kay-lynn" as it is on LotS, and not something like "Kaw-lann", or "Kaw-lawn".

  • @baraxor you are right, this proves the correct way terry thinks Kahlan should be pronounced. he's wrong, but yes, this proves it. english doesn't work that way, but whatever. i liked most of his books, but his biggest mistake was selling out rites to disney, because it has completely ruined the notion of the characters that terry so perfectly suggested in my mind. the person who directs the laughable warrior princess series, sam houser, is the director for the sword of truth series. 'nuff said.

  • @whyhatestrangers

Actually, as was the case with "Xena", Sam Raimi is pretty much a silent partner to Rob Tapert, whose outfit in New Zealand produced both series. Unlike "Xena", Tapert seems to deal only with the actual filming of LotS and not its creative development/writing.

  • @baraxor oh.. :( I just got served :( well now i know who to be upset with at least. but still... i'm not as big of a terry fan anymore. i truly feel he sold his show to give it enough power to have TOR Books beg him to come back for more richard and kahlan novels. have you read confessor? if so what did you think?

  • @whyhatestrangers

As with most of the books after Faith Of The Fallen, I find that Confessor has some good ideas/elements, but problems with the execution. Actually, I find the part that most interests me is that which I regard as the prequel to The Law Of Nines ( I prefer LotS's Jennsen to Book Jennsen, and like to think of the former as Alex Rahl's ancestor).

  • I would pay thousands for another book in this series

  • @BigWheelaCatPeelaYea He will wright one more ;)

  • @Zolkz1Zneew I hope he does, but i doubt it. I will have to read the law of nines

  • Comment removed

  • @BigWheelaCatPeelaYea dude he has announced it.. just look at his website

  • @Zolkz1Zneew Thank you sooo much for telling me I would not have checked other wise THANK YOU AGAIN!!

  • @BigWheelaCatPeelaYea np :) I even think its a 3book contract, however its another year still b4 released

  • @BigWheelaCatPeelaYea I even think its a 3book contract, however its another year still b4 released

  • @Zolkz1Zneew I hope they have a male confessor war wizard baby or some crazy stuff like that

  • @BigWheelaCatPeelaYea nah.. more awesome if liek cara gets baby : )

  • @Zolkz1Zneew Interesting a mord sith haveing a baby I dont know if the books say if that has happend before, but a mord sith is human there baby would just be normal, theres way more conflict with richard and kahlans baby, remember shota said they would have a boy, but kahlan did loose a baby so maybe a boy maybe not

  • @BigWheelaCatPeelaYea in the book it says Cara cant have a kid, since her reward for becoming a mord sith left her with out the ability to. but the others should be able to. Darken Rahl screwed cara over.

  • @SpyderEKZ ah it has been years since I read the first few books, I own them all so Ill have to reread them all by the time im done if I take my time the new book will be out . What book was that in do you remember?

It has to be the first one right?

  • @BigWheelaCatPeelaYea pretty sure its the first book during his captivity, but it could easily be Blood of the Fold. My money is on Wizard's First Rule

  • @BigWheelaCatPeelaYea I even think its a 3book contract, however its another year still b4 released

  • @Zolkz1Zneew lol I was just going to reply to u and say its a 3 book deal im so happy you and terry just made my day I cant wait untill 2011!

  • @Zolkz1Zneew (it will atleast be about Richard and Kahlan, but might not be named like '' Sword of truth - Blablabla '')

  • The TV show rapes this great story Terry should be shot for letting them rape his great work.

  • Exactly! And now this crappy law of nines.....

  • @FuzzAmatic5000 It says based on in the title and how would it ruin the books? They stand alone as does the series.

  • I have not read the books yet. . .However i just got into the show last week, watched all the episodes, and I've really enjoyed and loved it. I love all the cast and the characters. To me it's interesting, surprising, exciting, and uplifting. I'd like to read the books.

  • @Rajdreamer Nothing at all like the series lol

  • The show doesn't resemble the actual book series very much. The main similarity is that the character names are the same. Even the laws of the world are changed greatly.

  • yesterday i finished "Confessor". Amazing series! I learnt a lot. Thank you Terry :)

  • I have not read any of the books. I have seen all the episodes in the series up to date and I love them. So anticipating. I agree that season 2 is better than season 1. I am trying to find the first box set brand new for a low price..... Hardcover would be nice, but I definitely will settle for paperback.

  • ... has anyone else notised that every time the books go by in the backround... they skip one XDDDD (dept of bones) its marked in the books, comeing after Naked Empire. but i just looked up... and its like it duse not even exist.....

  • @yaoimee DoB was about 1/20 the length of the rest of the novels. It was just a short story written as a prequel and gets called book 9, but as far as the novels go, you can read all the others without taking DoB into account at all and not miss too much. All you really learn from it is a deeper understanding of Zedd's character and the boundaries.

  • No. Just the names of the charakters are the same, but the story of the book is different.

  • Yeah I was pretty disappointed in the series. I didn't expect it to be as good as the books by any means, but the series is just garbage compared to the books.

  • The books are clearly better, but I will say that the second season of legend of the seeker has been better. There have been some low moments, but the actress who plays Cara is wonderful and the writers seem to understand what to do with her. The series is worth watching for the Cara moments imo. Verna was also well cast and Khalan has her moments as well. Again, the books are on another level, but she show has been entertaining this season once you let go of your knowledge of the books.

  • Well I do agree that Cara is really great for the role! The best cast and played character i think. I never saw Verna the way they have her in the show tho. My main irritation is the story line is just getting farther and farther away from the book. I dunno it's just weird lol. But yes, the books are fantastic and I actually named my daughter Kahlan from the books :-)

  • I always thought Kahlan was a beautiful name :) What frustrates me most about the show is that they make changes that are worse than the book! I have no problem with the writers going in a different direction IF it makes sense. Some of the choices they've made have been lazy and cliched. They seem unwilling to let complicated plots develop and must always have everything tie up in a nice little bow within 1 hour. Give the viewers more credit.

  • I imagined Verna differently as well, but for some reason I really like this actress. I'm in love with Cara :) I'd like Kahlan to be a little more assured and to BE the Mother Confessor. Hate what they've done with Nicci and Denna. Slightly disappointed in Shota. Wish they included Nathan! Undecided about Ann. And Richard is too cute to not like :)

I just want good stories and interesting, well developed characters. The books had both in spades. Hopefully the show will follow through.

  • Ya I really hope it picks up. Stories with longer plots that have a big overall picture have the most satisfaction. It is kind of strange that they put each episode in it's own little wrapping and have it all work out at the end. But yes, I do agree that it would be awesome if they brought Nathan into it. I've always like Nathan. And I hope it goes far enough to explain the old war and some of the magic and how it ties into Richard more.

  • You did!?

  • lol, I sure did. Her name is Kahlan Paige.....kept the spelling and all :-)

  • is the book the same as the tv series?

  • Lord no. The books are VERY good. I have only seen a a couple episodes, but it is very disapointing

  • i would def choose sword if truth... much better

  • watched the pilot and thought it was all wrong, books were fantastic, have read the series 3 time but tv show was total let down. (gutted)

  • You have to get past the pilot. The pilot is a bit shaky, but the show gets better and better, and some of the acting is simply amazing!

  • Agreed sir!

  • I love both the wheel of time and the sword of truth. I would not be able to choose between the two series...

  • the acting sucks?! Have you seen Bridget Regan's acting in the series?! It's amazing, and she's an awesome Kahlan!!

  • i agree....she's the stand out in the cast.

  • hahah

wow... expose yourself to better actors

  • umm like who? Johnny Depp? He's awesome too, BTW. Seriously, I've been exposed to pleny of acting, and she's great!

  • way to try and be clever...pointing out one of the most paid and well known actors in the current film industry in order to show off your knowledge of actors....

everyone knows who johnny depp is lol... and that doesn't say anything for or against regan's acting...

i'm just not a fan of the show though....

  • Wow, okay. umm I actually pointed out Johnny Depp because he's a brilliant actor and I know it. Just saying that I've been exposed to some great actors and that in my opinion, Bridget Regan ranks among them. You're allowed to have your own opinion, but there's no need to insult mine.

  • I'm a very "late bloomer" when it comes to Terry's works... I only recently discovered Wizard's First Rule (I live in South Africa). I couldn't put it down (subsequently I've had NO sleep today)... I'm busy ordering the rest of the series right now - Can't wait to get them! One of the best-written stories I've read in a very long time!

  • I like the Wheel of time better

  • i wouldnt doubt robert jordans work one bit but between the wheel of time and sword of truth series there is no comparison, they are 2 great series

  • WoT got left incomplete after being dragged out way to long. It was great, but rather than rounding things into a conclusion, he kept writing it into more and more extraneous storylines and further from a conclusion. He already died. yay, lead people along for what 14 books all over a thousand pages and cut everyone off?

  • Mr. Goodkind, you should have NEVER allowed those people to do those TV series. They are a shame. Have nothing to do with your books, your characters, or anything. A shame.

  • I totally agree with you... I can't even imagine that Mr. Goodkind gave his approval for this. Where the magic of the books ? The casting is awfull, the acting sucks... I stick to my books!

  • You guys do know that Terry Goodkind takes part in the making of the series, right? He didn't just give his approval, he's a part of making it. I know that it's all horrible and different and everything, but you have to take it as something totally separate... like a creative extension of the books.

  • @kayfajay Actually, if you look on Terry Goodkind's website you will see that Disney ripped him off and shut him out of the decision making as soon as he signed over the rights to the books. He made a statement that he would no longer have anything to do with the show because of how the changed his work.

  • @kayfajay On Thursday, July 23rd, Terry attended the 2009 Comic-Con in San Diego.

When asked, "How involved are you with the television series?" Terry humbly replied; "I'm not involved at all. I'm writing new books, working on new stories, and developing new ideas. Disney purchased the SWORD OF TRUTH series property, it's theirs to develop into a television program that is entertaining and enjoyable and that's what they do best. What I do best is write stories."

  • @XxxWolfsoulxxX i'm glad someone pointed that out. in my opinion, the tv series is alright if you're a newb to the novels. but i'm still mad at terry for letting this happen. "what i do best is write stories." well i wish he were better at decision making, cuz now disney OWNS the tv series and all the rights and no one else can negotiate with terry. i think any one of his true fans would have done a much better job at making the tv series. what the novels really need is proper films. hoping....

  • @whyhatestrangers Exactly, It makes me want to become a movie director just so I can show everyone how the book was meant to be seen. lol. He is coming out with a new Richard and Kahlan book in 2011. And it will not be considered a part of the sword of truth series, so Disney has no right to it at all. I can't wait! :)

  • @XxxWolfsoulxxX agreed. the first time i read through the first three books i thought it would make a great movie. it's just not fair. the hobit got it's chance. the sword of truth deserves its own chance. the characters need to be represented truthfully and the storyline needs to be followed as best as possible and it's an automatic good movie. i say we all kidnap goodkind and demand he makes a proper film. and we, his fans, will of course be directors and make sure it doesn't suck.

  • @XxxWolfsoulxxX i just wonder how many of the original characters will be in the new book. i think the new book should be richard going into disney headquarters and doing the dance of death with the jerks who screwed up the series. i blame them, but terry still should never have sold the rights to disney. he says "im a writer not a movie maker." but he should have known better. those characters were HIS, he should have taken better care of them.

  • give the man some credit for making the books, u may not be a fan of the show but u are a fan of the books, and most of the time the movie(s)/show(s) are not exactly the same as the books, peter jackson may not be the director of the show but sam raimi is, i was never really into the movies he directed but i believe he chose the perfect cast for this show

  • absolutely. Complete butchering. It should be a crime; they have completely ruined the series, i mean zedd even has a beard. and with denna, she doesn't collect weapons... this is a total abomination. /rant

  • the books are awsome :D

  • i am very dissapointed by the tv series. I love the books SOOOOOO much and the tv series completely changed most of the things i was looking forward to. The books will always be my favourites!! YAY Terry Goodkind!

  • try reading some good fantasy like A song of ice and fire and then reread this christian moral trash.

  • ok, i'm an atheist, i have nothing against christians, or any religion. The whole point of the Sword of Truth is that you rule your own destiny. Richard believes completely in the existance of free will...i'm not sure where christianity comes into this. And a book can be good and have good morals too

  • The problem is that the books are not good, I do admit that the first book was a OK read but after that it becomes boring to read and very very very preatchy.

  • Mh I always thought that depends on personal taste. I for example really liked the Sword of Truth series but loathed A song of ice and fire. I thought it was boring and in contrast what this author can do not well told. But that's personal taste.

  • that's next on my list

after the wheel of time and to be honest

as far as comparing it to SOT

    it sucks

  • i felt that the ending didn't live up to the entire series.that end was so lame.ten books i read for that ending, two worlds crap.oh boy.

  • i didnt want the series to end i love it so much.../cry

  • Great books...been reading them since they first came out...many many years of waiting for it to end. Hope the shows can live up to the story.

  • loved all the books. they really are like how real life is. you can see the 'villian' and 'hero' in everything.

loved all the characters. richard, kahlan, zedd, darken rahl, jagang, nathan, ann, verna, nicci...shall i go on. they are all wonderful, and they all have their very own personality. couldn't put the books down, read them all in about a month.

i would tell whoever i know to read these books. they are really great.

very glad it was reccommended to me. =]

  • by the way, not to be rude to the person who posted the video...its not called THE confessor...its just Confessor

  • You're right, we'll change it. Thanks for pointing it out. It was a mistake on our part.

  • wow i'm so happy that i now know how to promouce her name

  • ya me to

  • amazin book love it

  • can't wait till this fall when its made into a tv show

  • SAY WHAT??? is this true? what channel? I just started the series a year ago and am now on faith of the fallen...A movie or tv show would be sweet!

  • i think abc. the first season is going to be 22 episodes 1 hour long each on the first book.

  • Craig horner has been casted as richard. 22 episodes so far. kahlan is casted too. cant remember her name. Regan is her last name i believe. it will be on ABC

  • wow, thats much sooner than I thought.

awesome. who's the cast do you know?

to bad I was not casted as the MOTHER

    CONFESSOR,

  • NOVEMBER 1ST!!! is when the series starts!!!

  • these books would make increadible movies ima supprised noone has tried yet.

  • I love these books, personally my favourite series, I'm actually currently rereading them. I didn't so much like chainfire and confessor, but all in all, a great series.

  • i loved SOT series ,but his last books were horrible. He should have taken more time to write them.I still remember how bewitched i was,how many dreams these books gave. After the pilars of creation the story just died.

  • I like there series despite the rather overbearing preachy nature of the author, but I was disappointed with confessor, I thought the climax was unfulfilling and abrupt... but all in all it was an enjoyable experience.

  • guys! I found alot more series that are also REALLY good! (over a 2 month time period)The In-Human series, it's a great fantasy trilogy, the three books are: The eyes of God, The Devil's Armor and... The Sword of angels. Also The Last of the Reshai series.

  • The books from terry Goodkind are great and erveryone shoud read them!

  • the only reason some one should ever read his books , is to be able to truly appreciate good books , but otherwise its complete waste of time

  • I read it, and it was fullfilling exactly what he said.. Seeing the values I have come to fullfillment in a story..

I found that more then Reason enough.

  • huh , stop taking crack when typing , i got no clue what the hell you are trying to write .

  • Ahem "I read it, and it was fullfilling exactly what Terry Goodkind was saying. Seeing the values I have, coming to fullfillment in this story." I Found that reason enough. ;P

  • People...try to get that this man is selling a political philosophy through his fantasy. Just understand that.

  • Yep, And I have to say, I agree with it.

  • Damn...Im too young to get that. Can you explain to me what it is? Im only in the 4th book.

  • i love the books!! on the 2 book and readed the first on 2 days, its so good!! :)

  • Even though I'm only 12, Iv'e read the Sword of Truth Series it was an excellent series! I was so depressed with I finished "Confessor"

    Thank you Terry Goodkind!

  • Same here RageRater, I finished it like a few weeks ago, I'm 12. It was AWESOME.

  • yep figures, only some one with intelligence of 12 or below could appreciate this his books .

  • this is the most phenomenal series i have ever read. i began reading them when i was 12 (over 8 years ago) and i know it will forever be my fave series. i havent read confessor yet cause i dont want it to end...

  • God bless you, Terry Goodkind! You write such wonderful and moving books. I believe you're greater than any Author I've ever read from. Your morals are very true to life. I enjoy his books. I wish I could meet him, he'd be an interesting person, I'm sure.

  • me either

  • cant waaaiiiiit
