@hollywoodstreetkings Spector was well aware of Ike Turner's controlling attitude in the studio, and resultantly drew up an unusual contract: the River Deep – Mountain High album and single would be credited to "Ike & Tina Turner", but Ike was paid $20,000 to stay away from the studio, and only Tina Turner's vocals would be used on record. I did not hear ike turner voice yet once sing this song.
@romemeka I am familiar with the Phil Spector Tina Turner collab, and I also was the last person to interview phil spector before he was locked up....and I was a longtime collaborator with Ike in the last few years he was alive (google Jacky Jasper)...but where are you getting your information from?
@romemeka Ike owned all Tina's professional musical endevors, Phil was just insuring that he could work with tina without any outside influence. Doesn't mean that he didnt like Ike or find him talented. He just wanted to be undisturbed during his process. Since Ike owned Tina (musically) he had to pay him... Ike was a PIMP, that's how it works
I feel you are just looking and referring to what you saw in that movie which was a GROSS dramatization of reality.
R.I.P. Ike "Woman Beater" Turner.
