I was the Ass't Projection Designer on Dracula, and I used to stand at the back of the house during previews with Chuck Wagner (4:03). Chuck was very knowledgable about the history of Broadway and its theatres, and he would tell me stories each night before the curtain rose. He was the nicest guy, to chat with a nervous 22-year-old kid just out of college on his first Broadway show. Of course Chuck knew exactly where to hide things in that space, and Tom's story illustrates how generous he is.
