I attended a Red Wing-Rocky game at McNichols Arena (across the street from Mile High Stadium). The old uni was much sharper than the Avelanche uniform-it actually incorporated the Colorado state flag.
This is when hockey fights were real... you got in a fight because you were pissed..NOT because you talked about it with the guy before the game started. The NHL today blows because of that. It's WWE shit now!
Some real names from the past, I remember Yvon Vautour coming up with the Islanders, but he didn't last there long. Ron Delorme was a tough guy who wasn't a very good fighter, as I remember. He usually lost his scraps, but he didn't back down & I always liked him. At the end, in the game vs. Boston, we see COL scoring on Gilles Gilbert. We don't see who was playing for the Rockies. If it was Hardy Astrom, you had Gilbert vs. Astrom, Don Cherry's two least favorite goalies in the same game.

The clip with the fight between the Hartford Whaler in green against Lucien Debluois in Colorado white was during Cherry's tenure in Colorado. Another indicator is during the same fight you can see #4 Mike McEwen of Colorado holding back another Hartford player. Cherry hated McEwen the most of all the players he ever coached. McEwen was a headcase and would blow Cherry off all the time. Hardy Astrom was the worst goalie Cherry ever had.
I remember an incident that year when Cherry tried to throttle McEwen on the bench & it made headlines & lead to Cherry eventually getting fired. When McEwen was traded to the Isles, I was surprised that the Isles, known as a tough team, wanted HIM, because I always thought of him as kind of soft having seen him with the Rangers before he went to COL, and because of what Cherry said about him. But he won 3 cups on Long Island & was a key part of the team, which surprised me for years.
@skiierincolo I was living in Colorado Springs at this time... best time in my life. Don't know what Colorado is like now but back then it was really a great place to live. I miss it.
@skiierincolo Yeah, except if you guys in Denver wouldn't have gotten good hockey if you didnt buy the Nordiques..They had a terrific team in 1995-96 although I have to say, Im glad CO got the Nords instead of some gay southern city or somethin...
@skiierincolo My dad coached Hyland Hills and Monarch High School....One thing I have to say is that you Coloradoans REALLY care about your hockey, and I like that..

I always liked the Rockies' uniforms; and defenseman Trevor Johansen, whose name in mentioned a couple of times during the play-by-play, was a friend of my cousin's!

Delorme always did well against middle weights (his size) but struggled against bigger fighters such as Terry O'Reilly, Dave Semenko.
