<33333 thats so cuteeee Im so happy you take care of him hes lucky to have a loving and caring owner! keep up the great work and may kona live long and happy life.
We had a kitten that looked like that once, Blizzard. He was actually a snow Bengal kitten but he had serious problems, as did three of his other 8 siblings. We had to take all of them away from their mother when they were little because there was something wrong with her milk. Blizzy looked exactly like that for awhile, minus the dirt, but he and his siblings got better when we fed them goats milk and boneless chicken. Both of them are VERY cute though. Glad you could help your little fella. :D
I live in istanbul turkey with my fiancé. I found a little kitty on my doormat. He was super tiny jsut like your cat. Shiviering and wet.
The women here treat cats like monsters. So they were almost running away when I tried to take him inside. So I sat outsit on the steps for about 2 hours with him wrapped in a towel. He stopped shivering. and I wanted to keep him. He had deep brown eyes and a skinny little face. I had him for one night before the women in the house freakedout byebye taylor:(
@snowbirdy6 No. Actually alot of people in different countries love animals just as much. Sure they dont worship their cats and dogs more than their parents like people in western countries do...but animals do get care and love in other countries. Theres just as much hatred over here towards animal as any other country.
@69southpole MANY MANY people in Turkey DO treat cats very very poorly. Yes there are of course people who have cats inside their house and take very good care of them, but the area that I was in, I took Kona to the vet and he was amazed and grateful and he told me that so many animals are dieing from abuse .. from people kicking them and killing them. It really is horrible. When the vets in Turkey agree.. you know there is a problem.
@snowbirdy6 Well im sorry you had a bad experience. But all im saying is dont label an entire country or an entire race of people for what some did. Like i said, people have different cultures. Every culture respects and loves animals but not every culture pays so much attention to animals. I do agree that yes animals should not be abused and should be taken care of better...but you know in the next few generations of turkish ppl..it will improve.
@69southpole and.. i have been to at least 6 countries where I have witnessed people abusing street animals. it is horrible and I will never understand. I am by no means talking about countries like in Japan where people also love their pets very much. Street animals just take a very bad rap in many many other countries. do you understand what I am trying to say here?
@snowbirdy6 Its not like these people just decide animals are filthy and dont have souls. I do understand what your saying...but i hope you know that ALOT of countries have shelters and special programs for these animals. India has been doing so much to save the indian tiger from extinction. Even the poorest most uneducated families over there have dogs and cats in their homes that are well taken care of.
@69southpole Well, we are not talking about A LOT of countries at the moment.. I have been to well over 30 countries and what I saw is engrained in my brain forever. Turkey, Spain and Puerto Rico were by far the worst I have ever seen. Now I have been told PR has been doing a lot of improvements with their animals.. but their, the kids were kicking soccer balls at these little puppies heads..and NO ONE ever yells at them! They all just walk by like its nothing.
@69southpole . that is what the problem is.. if there is a kid or someone abusing the animal, then why doesn't anyone from that country say, hey knock it off!
@69southpole Ok enough talk 69, I LIVE here and I SEE it. Its awful how cats are treated here. Worse then any other country I have visited. So please stop trying to make waves. I've seen horrible things done to cats here, especially from children
@69southpole and she isn't wrong about that.. the people in the area where I took Kona in thought I was a nutcase because I wanted to save some filthy creature from outside. When we decided to bring him back tot he US, their comments were "well, you can just get one there when you go home".. they just don't get it.
@snowbirdy6 But are you honestly accusing all these people are like this? Just because of what some of them said/did? I dont know what shallow people these were. Like i said, other cultures are not like western cultures...they dont put their dogs and cats before other things(family, education etc etc) like we do. Every culture & Every faith respects animals..if a few idiots dont you act like all of them dont. Thats stereotyping..in that case we can call you an ignorant american.
@69southpole ha ha ha.. NO. When an entire city treats animals the same, it is not a stereotype. It just is the way it is. And no, not every culture and faith respects animals. what bubbly made up world are you living in?
Oh my goodness. He was so tiny! You'd never know that that was him, looking at videos of him now. Congratulations to you; your love and care saved him.
Wow Kona put up with that bath really well. Although if you had just saved him from the streets then he must have been to pitiful and weak to put up a fight, Lucky little Kona gets to live the good life now.
One of my cats was abandoned by her mother at only two days. She was going to be put down, but the humane society rescued her and raised her. She was even on the news for a few minutes!
bless your hearts for this wittul guy... kona has come a long way! i have a cat too! her name is candy and she is the sweetest lil kitteh evar! your cats come close though in my book!
such a precious little thing, wen i was about 5 years old, a black cat came to my house, he mite have been a month or two idk cuz i was really young. my mom had 2 dogs, and this black cat came to drink water and ate dog food, eventualy my dad was planing to take the cat to the humain sucioty (sorry 4 my spelling) but b4 he did he asked how i feel if the cat left, and i said i would b really sad, then from then on hes been my cat named sassy, he 15 years old now, hes a very good cat :)
I just found this video and read many of your comments and figured out that this was made in May 2009. I thought that you had found another kitten and named him Kona Kidy. I am so glad that you have taken such good care of him and now he is the famous Kona! I am so glad that you posted these baby Kona videos because I know that has promoted animal rescue. Thank you so much for encouraging pet adoption with your famous Kona.
How did you get him back home from Turkey??? You did such a wonderful thing rescuing him...and judging from the later videos, he is happy and healthy. KUDOS!!
AWWWW How sweet ( : Kona was so precious! Was that mange? That reminded me of when my Mom found our cat Tiger in 1990. It was February, and it was only around 12 degrees outside, my Mom found him outside where she worked and brought him in. She fed him a fish sandwich and brought him home, He became our cat right then. He lived for eighteen years. He used his litter box the very first time he got into it. Did you know Dawn dishwashing liquid kills fleas?
@Sheri451 :) Yes I have heard that! But in Turkey, they don't have Dawn.. ;) We took him to the vet though just a few days later and he was flea dusted... he only had 2 or 3 on him and I got them all off.. and no, not mange. We think it was a mix of sticky cow milk which he got all over his face and the dirt he was laying in.
This reminds me of when I found my little Lux. I was coming home from work, and spotted little ears in the grass. She was scared, flea ridden, and so skinny. I found her about an hour before the temp got up to about 90+. She was about this small, but she was such a sweetheart. I was so proud the first time she used her litter box :D
@Raeshena I know that feeling! Kona used it right away! I couldn;t believe it! I thought he would have accidents, but nope! I took his little paws and scratched them around in it and within an hour, he went in there all by himself! Though he did have a few accidents when he could not get down off of the bed.. but that was our fault, not his.. he was just so cute! And it was well over 100 degrees when we found him!
You think they won't grow much bigger when they come pint sized like that but NOOOO! My cat was that small when I first got her. She's 8 now.....and HUGE.
Oh my goodness! Kona was SO unbelievably cute! Is he your favorite because he had such a rough start and you raised him? I've always guessed Jupey was your favorite...
What a little sweetie!! So absolutely little back then. And we're you both so sweet to take him in. A toothbrush. Never even thought of that! Too cute!!!!
OMG he was so tiny and fragile, poor Kona. It made me so sad to think he was all dirty like that and left on the streets. Thank God there are people like you in the world, that care and love animals the way you do. =)
Remind me of the time we got those 6 baby kittens...We also hat 2 mothers so they drank milk, then we gave them cat food and water. Im very sad to say but only one survived.. :`( We were moving at the time and we couldny buy medicine (some had eye infections)
Awww snowbirdy, what a wonderful thing you did saving that tiny sweet helpless little baby! And look at how the Great Spirit has rewarded you! Kona is a wonderful big intelligent, funny baby who brings everyone great joy & laughter! God bless you, darling! And God bless our Kona kitteh! <3
Aww... and on your channel page you say "His favorite toys are tooth brushes" - he obviously has fond memories of them! Here someone finally taking care of him and helping get rid of all that nasty dirt and fleas must've been a huge relief for him at the time :)
Poor teeny Kona, with all the dirt and those fleas... they look giant on his tiny head. He's a very lucky guy to have had you guys find him and take him in. I'm sure he thinks of that every time you guys whip out the video camera. "Ugh, not again... but they rescued me, so I'll put up with it." ;-)
I think I just died. That's excatly how small momo was when I rescued him~!! His mommy abandoned him since he was the runt, or she didn't have enough milk to feed him. Do you plan on keeping little Kona? =D
@snowbirdy6 i'm a guy, i work on a construction yard, i play football, go drinking with my buddys and this video just made my heart melt. nice video :D
God love you,,i used to live in Jordan and it was deplorable to see so many cats and kittens in the streets, so hungry and people would just as soon as run them over and treat them like rats instead of having a heart and taking them in. I had rescued a few, but there were so many! I'm back in Canada and sadly i was unable to take my Lola with me, she passed away November 27, 2008 and i still miss her terribly, she was my soulmate and my best friend, it is so nice to see someone caring like you!
@j4wd5 we think he was the runt in possibly a pure-bred litter. There are A LOT of street cats and dogs in Bodrum and its outlying cities, but never have I seen an all white oriental kitty!~
@snowbirdy6 Ahh right - thing is, it's shocking to see that for me because it's a rarity to see an animal just roaming the streets in England. At least - it is where I live.
@j4wd5 it was very hard for us to see all the kittys and dogs running all over the street. If you went to the fish market, cats were just EVERYWHERE! Here in the US, I couldn't imagine such a thing.
@snowbirdy6 yep, just like in Jordan, so many it was unbelievable, especially in the garbage,,just looking for something to eat to survive another day,,i live in canada and i could not imagine seeing it happen here just like in the U.S. God bless our countries!
@j4wd5 oh.. fyi.. a lot of people from England are actually (partially) to blame for all the animals in Bodrum. See what happens is that they adopt/buy/find a cat or dog while visiting Bodrum, for say a summer, then find out that England's laws are too diffiuclt to bring an animal back, and then unfortunately, the animal is dumped in the street.. :( so sad.. :(
@snowbirdy6 I don't understand how people can just dump a harmless, defenceless animal in the streets and leave it to die. I'm just glad there's people like you in the world who actually care for animals and keep them happy and healthy. :)
@diamon57 we found him in Konacik, Turkey. Kona also means wind in Hawaiian... so we put the two together and there was Kona ! :) (konacik in Turkish is actually, konak-cik, konak-house and cik-little. but the town became called konacik instead of konakcik)
@grobanite3388 nope. We came out of Turkey where all that is not required. If we had a layover in Europe on the way home, they may have taken him from us. But, since we did not, we had to just get all of his shots and paperwork and whatnot, and he came right home with us!
Omg little Kona! What a beautiful little baby, so well behaved! To think this is the start of his little life with his family! Thank you for rescuing our little star, he definitely has grown into a handsome boy we love to watch!
awww god bless you for that big haert you got

OMG he was so tiny and fragile, poor Kona. It made me so sad to think he was all dirty like that and left on the streets. Thank God there are people like you in the world, that care and love animals the way you do. =)

Remind me of the time we got those 6 baby kittens...We also hat 2 mothers so they drank milk, then we gave them cat food and water. Im very sad to say but only one survived.. :`( We were moving at the time and we couldny buy medicine (some had eye infections)

MamaMia008 1 year ago
Aww... and on your channel page you say "His favorite toys are tooth brushes" - he obviously has fond memories of them! Here someone finally taking care of him and helping get rid of all that nasty dirt and fleas must've been a huge relief for him at the time :)
someshitartist 1 year ago
Poor teeny Kona, with all the dirt and those fleas... they look giant on his tiny head. He's a very lucky guy to have had you guys find him and take him in. I'm sure he thinks of that every time you guys whip out the video camera. "Ugh, not again... but they rescued me, so I'll put up with it." ;-)

WhiteLioness100 1 year ago
What kind of person would leave a kitten out on the street like that?! Should be a prosecutable offence to do such a thing.
j4wd5 1 year ago
@j4wd5 we think he was the runt in possibly a pure-bred litter. There are A LOT of street cats and dogs in Bodrum and its outlying cities, but never have I seen an all white oriental kitty!~
snowbirdy6 1 year ago
@snowbirdy6 Ahh right - thing is, it's shocking to see that for me because it's a rarity to see an animal just roaming the streets in England. At least - it is where I live.
j4wd5 1 year ago
@j4wd5 it was very hard for us to see all the kittys and dogs running all over the street. If you went to the fish market, cats were just EVERYWHERE! Here in the US, I couldn't imagine such a thing.
snowbirdy6 1 year ago
@snowbirdy6 yep, just like in Jordan, so many it was unbelievable, especially in the garbage,,just looking for something to eat to survive another day,,i live in canada and i could not imagine seeing it happen here just like in the U.S. God bless our countries!
3itchontherise 1 year ago
@j4wd5 oh.. fyi.. a lot of people from England are actually (partially) to blame for all the animals in Bodrum. See what happens is that they adopt/buy/find a cat or dog while visiting Bodrum, for say a summer, then find out that England's laws are too diffiuclt to bring an animal back, and then unfortunately, the animal is dumped in the street.. :( so sad.. :(
snowbirdy6 1 year ago
@snowbirdy6 I don't understand how people can just dump a harmless, defenceless animal in the streets and leave it to die. I'm just glad there's people like you in the world who actually care for animals and keep them happy and healthy. :)
j4wd5 1 year ago
@snowbirdy6 omg! that's horrible! poor animal, it must get so confused and scared,,it breaks my heart and bring tears to my eyes,,
3itchontherise 1 year ago
is there any reason why you named kona kitty ,kona?
diamon57 1 year ago
@diamon57 we found him in Konacik, Turkey. Kona also means wind in Hawaiian... so we put the two together and there was Kona ! :) (konacik in Turkish is actually, konak-cik, konak-house and cik-little. but the town became called konacik instead of konakcik)
snowbirdy6 1 year ago
aww that's so cute... So he had to go through quarantine and stuff when you moved him to the US right?
grobanite3388 1 year ago
@grobanite3388 nope. We came out of Turkey where all that is not required. If we had a layover in Europe on the way home, they may have taken him from us. But, since we did not, we had to just get all of his shots and paperwork and whatnot, and he came right home with us!
snowbirdy6 1 year ago
@snowbirdy6 Oh that's good! Otherwise that would've added more stress :-|
I really love the videos you post, thanks :D
