  • Congrats Mayor on the 6 Plus Million Dollars from the Feds for Beach Renourishment for 2008! It's great that the COE is finally recognizing that the Channel Dredging has an impact on Tybee and is responsible for the continued erosion. It's also great that the leaders in Washington D.C., the State of Georgia and Chatham County are contributing to the funding to assist the City of Tybee, Georgia. Go Team!

  • What a loser.This is a local concern.

  • No it's not, you dumbass. One word: tourism. All kinds of people from all over visit downtown Savannah and Tybee. The distruction of Tybee will greatly affect the taxpayer's from all over the state. Property taxes will go sky high.

It's also a huge risk with evacuation, which could cause major problems.

So, you're the loser. Try to actually think before you speak. Didn't go to school, did you?

  • Mr Bad, you prolly don' be likin' propity taxes no mo' den da rest of us...well Bubba, den get behind Rep Glenn Richardson's proposal...and while you at it, give dat Fair Tax a nod

  • Be nice to see some federal money used for the USA. Probably if you took the profit money from one no-bid contractor (their employees pay no income tax???) you could fix this beach and rebuild New Orleans and coastal Mississippi. You could even use the same workers, reformed, and then they would pay their income tax.

  • Mayor B, That's right, try to save the beach while you are trying to destroy "downtown". LEAVE IT ALONE !!!

Most people LOVE it just the way it is now. That's why people like me leave Myrtle Beach and head for Tybee.

If you get your sand for the beach, I hope that your head does not get buried in it

  • This beach is not a resort town, it is the home of thousands of people who depend on the beach to protect their homes from surge damage. Please share this video with your friends and help to push the Federal government to protect Georgia's beach!

  • Great video. Tybee's beaches have eroded much more since the filming of this video, and it is true that the Federal Government has turned away from assisting Tybee Island. Congress only approved $2 million of the necessary $6 million for 2007's beach renourishment project. These projects are necessary every seven years to maintain Tybee's beaches. President Bush vetoed even that paltry spending last year. I am glad to see that this important issue is finally catching the public's attention.

  • <3 tybee i used to live there, then moved inland.

  • Wow Mr. B! I didn't realize such a serious problem was going on. It really shines light and I hope the beach is restored.

  • Thanks for trying to reach Washington in a new and innovative way. I would have hoped you could also show the recent erosion further south on Tybee , where in some places as you walk along the beach, the dune area is above the head level of an average adult! As a volunteer for the Marine Science Center, I patrol the beach at dawn searching for new nests of the loggerhead sea turtle. With no beach available, what will happen to the future generations of turtles?

  • It's too bad that the President has not proposed any renourishment projects in his 07 or 08 budget, thus Tybee, which was to be renourished in 07 has a deteriorating beach. So much for learning any lessons from Hurricane Katrina.

  • Excellent reasons and an excellent video, Mr. B and Todd. I hope something happens soon.
