When the Spanish decided to make Luzon their stronghold, the Borneo Sultanate decided that it was better to make a tactical withdrawal. The Sulu Sultanate did continue to fight against the Spanish in the Bisayas for hundreds of years to tray and get rid of the Spanish invaders. The philippines before where not as united as before the sultanate of sulu doesn't reign the country due to the fact that there are several kingdoms on each major Island. for luzon Kingdom of Maynilad/ tondo/ namayan in visayas-Confederation of Madyaas and so on. Luzon fought back but why do you think spain preferred Luzon than Mindanao? coz it has a stratigic location for trade/commerce and for defense.

muslims dont act accordingly to terror groups...usually they just send letters of denial but no action taken as if they support these groups...look at pakistan, what did they do to the taliban in the tribal regions? after years of denial by their government, now they cant control them...what did the pakistani government do, they gave a ceasefire...what would that print to muslims good or bad arround the world? it will always be taken as muslims supporting muslims may they be terrorists or not...

Abu Sayyaf is no freedom fighter. They are terrorists who try to earn money and fame through inhuman activities. If they are truly freedom fighters, they would preserve their honor and would not solely engage in violence to achieve independence. Why not seek help from the OIC and UN instead of kidnapping innocent people?

ABU SAYYAF are even supported by MNLF and MILF directly or indirectly...although these two groups will and always will deny this...but in reallity they are supporters of the group and sometimes exchange combatants and refplenish ABU SAYYAF whenever some of them dies during a military confrontation...
the most feasible thing the philippine government can do in mindanao is a SRI LANKAN style full military operation until one of them exhausts all their military arsenal on their disposal...
